SSOUNEWSDIEOTTBNG – GET DOWN TO BUSINESS

Good Morning Everyone!     🏡 There’s No BUSINESS Like LOW BUSINESS! 🏡

🎶We went to the GRAND CANYON…And we stood at the expanse…And we watched the rocks change colors….And we watched the shadows dance. And we probably didn’t say anything as the sunset turned to night…We let the spirits do the talking with cascades of faded light…🎶

🏡 Whenever a SEASON changed from one to the other, it wasn’t just an OUTFIT she worried about; because listening to the media’s DRIVEL, hardly BENIGN, ALWAYS made her think that the Fashion Industry probably wasn’t the most HUMANE of careers…it was more like…YOU-mane-NOT! 🏡

What a morning! Here on Staten Island, NY, we’ve dropped 40°. It’s cold and we have a coastal flood warning in effect. The rains are coming, we’ll be STORMY. The morning news is STORMY…It’s just one of those days…But, the show must go on. So, how about our words? Did they have you CLIMBing the walls? Did they ROCK the boat? Did they leave you feeling STONE cold? Whatever you’re thinking, let’s just get to the BOTTOM of this puzzle…Our words today were perfect Sunday fare. Challenging. Maybe even tougher than the solution itself. Looking at the cartoon this morning, the answer came immediately. The word “open” in the dialogue and “Hotel” in the question just seemed to FORM the answer for me. But we had to get our words. And are they BUTTES! My TICS as the ROCKIEST? SEASON and DRIVEL. Drivel because it’s not the most common word, and Season because I believe the eye seems to go to the double S...and get Stuck…and ESS wrong! Ok, our cartoon. Phantom Ranch is a historic oasis nestled at the BOTTOM of GRAND CANYON. It is on the north side of the Colorado River tucked in beside Bright Angel Creek. This is what I found on-line, so I’m sharing it with you all. There’s a lot of info out there, so if it’s of interest to you, take a LOOK. For those of you who have visited GRAND CANYON , you know how breathtakingly beautiful it is. The cartoon, albeit accurately depicted, doesn’t do it much justice. But what can we expect? I’m sure Jeff went to the DEPTHS of his artistic ability with it, but let’s face it Folks, it’s an UPHILL CLIMB! It’s a WONDER he even gave us this much! We see the CANYON, and two female guides discussing the opening of the Hotel, which is seen at the BOTTOM. They’re dressed in uniFORM, and just as all new BUSINESS owners are, they appear to be excited about the GRAND opening. Our question asks what they were ready to do...GET DOWN TO BUSINESS…And there we have it! PLAIN and simple! Solved! Ok, eye candy…What can I say, Folks…nothing’s JUMPing out at me…And I’m really reaching DOWN into every NOOK and CREVICE of my addled mind too…Let’s just skip it for today…I may have hit ROCK BOTTOM!  Have a great day, Everyone! And if you’ve never been, consider visiting the GRAND CANYON. It’s absolutely GORGEous! 🏡🙋🏻

FYI: Today in Major League Baseball, we honor Jackie Robinson, in celebration of his historic career. All MLB players today wear his number, 42, on their jerseys in commemoration. With the weather being what it is, we may not all get to see our favorite teams play today, but just the same, it’s a great day in Baseball! RIP Jackie. We’re better for having known you! ⚾️🙋🏻

Good Morning, Everyone!         🐱 TABBY….OR NOT TABBY…🐱

🎶 I hear the cottonwoods whisperin’ above…TABBY, TABBY, TABBY’S in love..
The old hootie owl hootie-hoo’s to the dove…TABBY, TABBY, TABBY’S in love…🎶

🐱 We’ve all seen those commercials, where the sounds of can openers…
Can make a cat a RUNNER, be it Frisky, Jules, or Spurs.
There’s nothing POISEd about them, they skid as they are SWEPT
Across the floor while heading to the place their bowl is kept…
A can needs to be DUGOUT before the cat is fed…
(Of course I know I’m using it wrong…I’m baseball born and bred…)!
The cat has this big smile, and the woman, look at her…!
She’s just as happy feeding him his favorite meal…”SUP -“PURR” 🐱

Oh, Jeff…not again! Oh, the humanity! Oh, the inhumanity! Today’s words…I think DUGOUT may not sit well with some, and between that and RUNNER? You may be SCRATCHING your head…Our puzzle. Today’s TAIL, is one FUR the CAT Lovers out there…But what gives? Is David trying to lay down the CLAW with Jeff? We’ve just had a CAT puzzle on Monday the 2nd, and now another one here on CATurday the 14th? Is he KITTEN? Why the rePETition? For those of you who may not know, David’s a CAT person, Jeff PURRfers dogs. And yet HAIR we are again. PAW Jeff…We see a kitchen. We see a woman. We see a humongous CAT. And what a PUSS! Grinning like he already ate that PURRverbial canary! PURRfectly content…Talk about a FAT CAT…This is one FURmidable feline! Our question asks…What was the CAT’S favorite meal?…“SUP-PURR“! Good one, David! AMEWsing! Ok, eye candy…Really not much to see besides the Great CATSby here..with his TAIL swishing back and forth. So I’ll just go with the empty CAT food can in the woman’s hand. You can actually see the little tab top. Great deTAIL, Jeff! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone… CATch you later…🐱🙋🏻

WHOYD  –  HOWDY

MURRO –  RUMOR

LGOOBN – OBLONG

FRATID  – ADRIFT

CARTOON ANSWER :  NEWS TRAVELED QUICKLY FROM PARROT TO PARROT

AS A RESULT OF – – –

HDRUMOBOIFT =  “BIRD” OF MOUTH

Good Morning, Everyone!               🐦 SQUAWK of The Town 🐦

🎶 Bye, bye, BIRDIE…I’m gonna miss you so….Bye, bye, BIRDIE Why’d ya have to go? (Bye, bye)Bye, bye, BIRDIE..It’s awful hard to bear…Bye, bye, BIRDIE, guess I’ll always care…Guess I’ll always ca-a-a-a-are …Guess I’ll always care! 🎶

🐦 Three parrots in a tree we see, and all of them can talk,
They fly around from place to place and always they do squawk.
They say HOWDY, they say Goodbye, sometimes they’ll say So long
Despite a RUMOR you may hear their beaks are not OBLONG
We see them all ADRIFT in trees, communicating loud,
They always flock together, with them it’s one big crowd.
They’re said to speak, and mimic, they can’t live well in drought…
They like to wet their beaks a lot…they’re each a “BIRD” OF MOUTH!🐦

Well, HOWDY! Not only are today’s words all old favorites, but we’ve seen RUMOR as recently as March 24th! And HOWDY was one of our gifts on Christmas Day! We saw OBLONG on May 14th, and ADRIFT on June 13th. So, did a little BIRDIE whisper in our ear with a hint or two this time around?…Or did we find ourselves up a TREE?…The anagrams are all new, and I think a little easier this time around. But if I was forced to go out on a LIMB, IDK…They were all pretty TWEET to me…What about you, Folks? What word RUFFLED your FEATHERS today? Let me know…Ok, our cartoon. Let’s take a BEAK…Today Jeff’s FLOWN us away to a warmer climate. Let’s say South America. We’re up in a TREE, listening to the conversation of three PARROTS. As we know, PARROTS can “talk“. What they do, is MIMIC the sounds that they hear. Science tells us that it has something to do with the wiring in their brains. BIRD brains..Hmm. Where have I heard that before? Sounds very familiar. But I digress…The three we see here, are letting one another know that it’s time to FLY the coop…or flee the TREE as it were. Being very social birds, they live in groups, called FLOCKS. So if ones going, they’re all going. And since they’re all together, you know, BIRDS of a FEATHER…news travels fast. So, how do they get the WORD out…”BIRDOF MOUTH! Well BEAK-a-boo…Dave’s got you! Now we’re SQUAWKING! Good one, Dave! Ok, eye candy…What can I say? There’s not much to choose from here…This cartoon’s really for the BIRDS…I like the black BEAK on the PARROT farthest back, but I’m not HOOKED on it. I’m going to go with the PARROT already in FLIGHT…He must be that early BIRD we’ve always heard about. Or perhaps he got a TWEET? Is he on TWITTER?  Should we FOLLOW him? CLAWS why is he FLYING off alone…? Hmm. A POLYGON for sure! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone. And remember..There will always be questions in life…a PARROTdox here, a PARROTdox there…Just don’t let them get you DOWN. 🐦🙋🏻

GITSH = SIGHT

GRUHS = SHRUG

DIRTEA = TIRADE

TULEID = DILUTE

CARTOON ANSWER:

HE BELTED HOME RUN AFTER HOME RUN ONCE HE – – –

SIHSHRTIDITE = HIT HIS STRIDE

Good morning everyone, and happy Thursday! We’re in the homestretch of puzzles for the week with yesterday’s game being the most difficult so far. The majority of folks that stopped by were looking for help with FLEGNU as well as the surprise answer, LEFT AND “WRITE”. If you fell victim to Jeff and David’s nasty curveball yesterday, it’s time to stand up, brush yourself off, and head back out to the plate to take a swing at today’s offering.

Leading off today’s game was SIGHT. It was pretty obvious as was the next word which was SHRUG. The 5-letter words took more time to write out than to solve so I was feeling like nothing could slow me down. My go get ’em attitude quickly subsided as soon as I ran into the next anagram which was TIRADE. A nasty slider. Impossible for me to hit. David jumbled this word so perfectly that I actually skipped over it and moved on to DILUTE. Now that was an easy one to figure out after using my technique of trying the anagram backwards. And there I was right back where I left off only a few seconds before, and more frustrated than ever! After what seemed like an eternity of just staring at it, I broke down and pulled out my notepad. It took a few minutes to figure out and I was just happy to be done with it.

Everyone’s favorite part of the Jumble is the cartoon and I was especially pleased to see that this morning’s panel featured a baseball theme. We may have had to wait a couple of weeks into the season to get it, but it’s better late than never. The setting was a baseball field where a couple of coaches are cheering on a player as he heads for home. The look on the players face shows us that he’s not under any pressure to get there as he leisurely gallops towards the plate. By reading the sentence and dialogue we learn that the player has just hit a home run and he’s savoring every second of this glorious moment. There wasn’t much fine detail in today’s drawing except for maybe the shadowy crowd cheering in the stands. I’m happy that Jeff showed restraint by not forcing any in because the drawing was perfect just the way it was.

The solution to the surprise answer wasn’t overly difficult to solve with HIS being the first word that I found. It was neatly placed together in the beginning of the anagram for an instant solve. I would have switched the position of SHRUG and SIGHT to make the layout more challenging, but perhaps our wordsmith thought TIRADE was enough trouble for today. HIT was found next with STRIDE taking just a few moments to figure out and finish this one off.

On a final note, you only have a few days left to enter April’s giveaway. Head over to the front page of my blog for your chance to win an “I ❤️ Jumble” coffee mug and a $20 iTunes gift card. You can use the gift card to get rid of those pesky ads in the Just Jumble app and still have a few bucks to spare. Have a terrific Thursday, and I’ll see you tomorrow!

GDAAE = ADAGE

WNIET = TWINE

TRIUAL = RITUAL

FLEGNU = ENGULF

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE AUTHOR SHOWED OFF HIS TYPEWRITER’S DIRECTIONS – – –

ADETWERITNLF = LEFT AND “WRITE”

Good morning, Jumble players, and happy Wednesday! Today’s game was just my type of puzzle. With a perfect blend of challenging clue words, a surprise answer with one word in quotations and a well-drawn cartoon, it surely hit all the right keys!

ADAGE has been used many times in the past but it’s one of those clue words that always seems to gives me trouble. David crafted his anagram with the two consonants in the beginning and the three vowels at the end making it one big mess! TWINE and RITUAL were no trouble to decipher and immediately visible upon first glance. My pick for the most difficult anagram of the day would have to be ENGULF. It was jumbled so well that I had to work through it in the margin of my newspaper for a minute before it finally gave itself up. With all of the clue words unscrambled, I was now ready to give Jeff’s cartoon my full attention.

The setting for today’s panel appears to be a small study where two men are fascinated by some newfangled piece of technology. With a candle flickering away on the wall instead of a lightbulb, we can date this “period piece” to the late 1890’s or early 1900’s. By reading the dialogue and sentence we learn that the man seated is an author and he’s explaining to his friend how a typewriter works. With his line of text typed, the author presses a key that moves the large cylindrical roller back to the right so he can continue his work.

The detail work on the typewriter was exquisite! Jeff added a floral design in the center which really made the drawing pop. Some of the other details in the drawing were a cigar burning away in an ashtray as well as a few handwritten pages of the authors newest novel. What really caught my attention was the action lines on the cylinder that had it appear to be moving left to right!

The letter layout for the final solution kept the answer well hidden making for a difficult task of deciphering. I decided to start with the 3-letter word in the middle to eliminate some of my letters. With no “H” in the anagram, THE wasn’t going to work. AND was there so I decided to give it a try. Looking at my remaining letters, WRITE jumped out at me leaving LEFT to finish it off. Today’s Jumble was a pleasure to complete and I hope you had fun solving it as well. Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

ESEGE = GEESE

KIDNY = DINKY

CALOIS = SOCIAL

LIWEVS = SWIVEL

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE INTUITIVE DOCTOR KNEW WHAT WAS WRONG WITH THE PATIENT THANKS TO HIS – – –

ESINKSCSE = “SICK” SENSE

Happy Tuesday, everyone! The 5-letter clue words were no trouble at all and took just a glance to decipher. KIDNY looks like it’s already spelled correctly so I wonder how many people will be tricked by David’s anagram. CALOIS was a beautiful Jumble and it left the answer well hidden. I actually skipped it and moved on to SWIVEL before returning for another go. Trying my technique of working the anagram backwards allowed me to start making words with “S” and SOCIAL came into view after a couple of attempts.

The setting for today’s cartoon is a hospital room where a patient is resting on a bed as comfortably as he can. He appears to be sweating profusely and his face is covered with round bumps or blotches. Two medical professionals are also present in the room and they appear to be examining the patient while having a conversation amongst themselves. Reading the dialogue and sentence sheds new light on the situation and we learn that the doctors are having some trouble determining the proper diagnosis. The female doctor states that she’s stumped while the male doctor has a feeling that it’s just an allergic reaction.

By looking closely at the cartoon, I began to notice a contrast between the two doctors which really helped during the final solve. The female appears very professional with a stethoscope draped around her neck and a clipboard in her hands. Since my cartoon is in black and white print, the color of her shirt is white and his is black. He seem’s to be going with a gut instinct rather than making a “proper” medical diagnosis which had me thinking that this doc is a quack!

The surprise answer contained a 4-letter word in quotations as well as a 5-letter word. Writing out the clue letters brought SICK instantly into view leaving SENSE just a short solve to finish it off. Not an overly difficult puzzle, but the surprise answer was a hoot! Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow.

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE POLICEMAN WHO BREEZED THROUGH THE RADAR DETECTOR’S MANUAL WAS A – – –

EEDRPDRESAE = SPEED READER

Good Monday morning, Jumble fans! Before we dive into today’s game, I’d like to take a moment to look back at the most challenging anagrams that we encountered last week. HOYTER, DIRHEN, and PRILTE were the top three most searched for clue words and APAOTHERSCT was the most viewed surprise answer. I’m excited to see what David and Jeff have waiting for us this week so let’s get straight to the fun stuff!

We know that the puzzles are generally on the easier side at the beginning of the week and get progressively harder as we make our way towards Friday. The first three clue words that we see today are all old favorites and not much of a challenge. My pick for the most difficult anagram of the day goes to our fourth word which was SHAKEN. It too wasn’t difficult but it did require a brief second glance before coming into view. With my Monday morning brain warm up complete, I ventured over to the cartoon.

The main characters of today’s panel were instantly recognizable as law enforcement officers and they appear to have a new piece of equipment that they’re ready to put into service. As the officer on the right takes a hands-on approach to familiarizing himself with the new gadget, the officer on the left appears to be taking his time and is seen reading the manual before he gives it a whirl.

Speaking of the manual, on the front cover it identifies the equipment as the “Speeder 2000” and it’s also on the side of the gun as well. I was scratching my head while reading the cartoon sentence because something seemed off. The sentence identifies the equipment as a radar detector, when in actuality it’s a radar gun or speed gun. A radar detector picks up on the radio-wave beams that a radar gun emits. It was a minor oversight in the wording of the sentence that had no impact on the final solve.

The surprise answer consisted of a 5-letter and a 6-letter word. I didn’t attempt a blind solve on this one so I wrote out my clue letters for assistance. The first three letters in the layout were “EED” bringing SPEED instantly to mind. READER was quickly found in the remaining letters for a very satisfying solution. Have a very happy Monday, and I’ll see you tomorrow.

GNTCREODANTAIIIH = HAD A NICE RING TO IT

Good Morning, Everyone!               💍 SEA OF LOVE 💍

🎶 Come with me, my love…To the SEA, the SEA OF LOVE, I want to tell you how much I love you. Do you remember when we met? That’s the day I knew you were my pet…I want to tell you how much I love you…🎶

💍 He came up from below deck, wine bottle in his hand
Some food from in the PANTRY, he hoped it not too bland…
“Would this wine taste ACIDIC“? The thought ran through his head
It came so HIGHLY recommended…”You’ll love it”, the guy said.
He felt the GENTLE breezes, he took a look around
An EXODUS of ships it seemed were now out on the Sound.
He thought how long he’s known her, how many years have flown
Back then she had a CURFEW, and now they both were grown…
He looked across the deck at her, at where she now did sit…
And hoped that she would find this all HAD A NICE RING TO IT…💍

Sunday. 6 for 6. Except for a brief moment when the SEAS of ACIDIC made me think CICADA, the puzzle was as easy, breezy as the GENTLE ones I sense wafting from our cartoon. The solution was a given, by the RING being so prominently displayed…We just SAILED through this one…Today we SEA a proposal taking place aboard a boat. From the dialogue, we can imagine that this couple has been SAILING before, because he’s chosen to include the words “first MATE” in his request. And we’re told that she, Paula, loved it. He looks a little nervous. And by the placement of her arms, and the look on her face, Jeff’s drawn her to look surprised. Our question asks…What did she think of his proposal? She thought it..HAD A NICE RING TO IT! Well done, David! I PROPOSE a toast! Ok, eye candy. The skyline…Chicago? Maybe, I’m not SHORE. I can take a shine to the RING, but I think I’ll go with the dog. He looks like he’s got a VESTED interest in this proposal too! So, There you have it, Folks! Done! Have a great day, Everyone...Smooth SAILING! 💍🙋🏻

🎶 Let’s go SURFIN‘ now…Everybody’s learning how…Come on and safari with me…Come on and safari with me…Come on (SURFIN‘) Baby, wait and see (SURFIN‘ safari). Yes I’m gonna (SURFIN‘) take you SURFIN‘ ( SURFIN‘ safari) with me…Come along (SURFIN‘) Baby, wait and see ( SURFIN‘ safari)…Yes I’m gonna ( SURFIN‘) take you SURFIN’ ( SURFIN‘ safari) with me…🎶

🏄🏻 A surfers’ life is one of ease, they live for sun and sea,
A BRISK walk to the ocean and for them the days ready…
Their coffers sometimes VACANT, their wardrobes nothing much
They’re happy with some cut off jeans and Tees the finishing touch.
They don’t care to EXPAND it, they’re happy and carefree,
They dream always of the next wave and where that wave may be.
A storm don’t cause them worry, you’ll never see them WINCE,
There’s such a thrill in the “Big Ones” listen and they’ll convince.
Unless you’ve known one closely, and seen how they behave…
It’s hard to understand just what’s in a surfers‘ BRAIN WAVES! 🏄🏻

Even though none of our words would WIPE you OUT, I think the 5 letter ones may be a bit more of a CHALLENGE than the 6’s today. But they’re all old favorites, and easy to GET OVER. So on to our cartoon. SURFING…What do I know about SURFING? Let’s SEA…WAVE? When just a handshake won’t do? SURF? The channels? AXED? And answered? BLANK? Check?..Ok, ok…I’ll stop HOTDOGGING and get down to business…Today we see a SURFER, as he LAYsBACK bare chested  on a couch, asleep. He’s DREAMING and picturing himself SURFING. The entire dream sequence is shaded blue. The SURFER in the dream seems younger, I guess our boy is WIPING OUT a few years. He’s also seen without the blond soul patch HAIR in the dream. While asleep, one SHOULDER looks to be HIGHer than the other…but that could just be the ANGLING of the drawing. He’s smiling happily in both depictions…DOUBLED UP so to speak…Our question’s  AXING, what does the SURFER need to dream about SURFING? BRAIN WAVES! SWELL, Dave! You’ve managed to RUNOFF with another good solution! Ok, EYE candy. We see that the SURFER’S dark hair is sun-streaked, and very LONG…BOARD with it though, despite  a CURL in the “HAIR and now” guy. We have the tattooed arm bands. There’s the SURFBOARD, but that falls FLAT. I’m going to choose the FISH HOOK around his neck…I just found it FETCHing! So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And stay out of DEEP WATER! 🏄🏻 🙋🏻

OLOGI = IGLOO

HNAKT = THANK

PRILTE = TRIPLE

SCNAVA = CANVAS

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE PREPARATION PUT INTO STABBING DRACULA IN HIS HEART WAS – – –

IGANKTIPANS = PAINSTAKING

Good morning, Jumble fans! Opening up my newspaper to start today’s Jumble, I couldn’t help but have my attention gravitate towards the unique cartoon that Jeff decided to draw for us. It’s completely out of the ordinary and definitely on the sinister side. So let’s quickly run through the clue words so we can explore this devious drawing in-depth!

Did you think IGLOO looked like LOGIC at first? That extra “O” stumped me only for a few seconds before I remembered that we’ve run into this word not too long ago. THANK was immediately visible and a routine solve. Next up was TRIPLE, and it’s my pick for the peskiest of the pack. David really had me fooled by starting the anagram with a PR so it took a few self-jumbles to make it come into view. CANVAS required zero effort and I was excited to finally head over to the cartoon.

The setting of today’s panel is a workshop where we see two men plotting a plan to do battle with dracula. The room appears to be dimly lit with perhaps just a candle or two burning in a corner just outside our view. The man on the left looks like he’s been down this road before but he wasn’t successful in his previous attempt to defeat the mythological bloodsucking beast. His eyepatch as well as the scar on his face are a constant reminder that he was lucky to escape with his life during their tussle. With a pistol on his hip and a garland of garlic around his neck, he waits for his partner to place the finishing touches on the wooden stake that is sure to get the job done.

Our bald tinkerer seems to be using a magnifying glass to precisely place a few drips of “garlic juice” on the tip of the stake. There’s several other items on his workbench including some silver tipped bullets, a whole head of garlic and a mortar and pestle. Little do they know that their preparations are being overseen by their enemy as he hangs silently upside down in the window just above their heads!

Jeff went to extremes with all of the detail work in his cartoon. It’s not often that we see such a dark piece and it was such a fun change of pace. Let Jeff know if you enjoyed it by leaving a comment down below and maybe he’ll continue these types of drawings in the future.

The final solution consisted of a single 11-letter word. The layout was wonderfully cryptic and left the answer well hidden. I must admit that I was stumped at first until I noticed the letters -ING. By crossing them out, I had 8-letters to deal with making PAIN come into view. PAINSTAKING came instantly to mind leaving a very satisfying solve. Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

AGECALSNNHDE = “CHANGED LANES”

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday! Today’s puzzle featured clue words that were all returning favorites and a cartoon that was chock full of fun details. So buckle up, grab a cup of coffee, and let’s head out on the open road and discover all there was to be seen in today’s game.

Both of the 5-letter clue words were no trouble at all and instantly recognizable upon first glance. IMAGE was practically spelled out in perfect reverse order with the “E” on the end being the only roadblock. CANAL hasn’t shown up in the game since last October and was probably the more difficult of the two. That brings us to SKINNY, which is my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. On Monday I mentioned that if you get stumped on a word that has a “Y” in it, you should try making words that end with “Y”. I took my own advice and it worked like a charm. For some reason HINDER jumped right out at me, and just like that, I was ready to zoom over to the cartoon!

Today’s panel featured a man and a woman having a conversation as they are motoring along a busy roadway. Reading the dialogue and sentence gives us a hint as to why the driver looks so concerned. Our female co-pilot has just noticed on her cell phone GPS that they need to take the next right to get to their destination so she informs the driver that he needs to switch lanes. With his directional on, the driver can be seen scanning his rear view mirror for an opening that will allow him to safely execute the maneuver.

At first glance, I thought the tractor trailer in today’s panel was the same one we saw in Saturday’s game. It had similar flame decals on the engine compartment but the driver looked different. The logo on the truck we see today say’s “Duff” which is a fictional beer from “The Simpsons” animated sitcom.

My favorite detail today was the hair bow that the female passenger is wearing. If you look closely you’ll see that it has bowling pins on it and a bowling ball in the center!  Excellent job, Jeff!!!

The layout for the final solution was two words and wasn’t overly difficult to figure out. The visual clue of a man attempting to change lanes was more than enough for me to get the job done leaving us with a satisfying finish.

On a final note, don’t forget to enter the April prize giveaway that’s going on right now. This month’s offering is a “I ❤️ Jumble” coffee mug and a $20 iTunes gift card. Enter here for your chance at this awesome prize package!

Jumble Answers for 04/03/2018

LUTYR – TRULY

TIODT – DITTO

GOIBNX – BOXING

NEETTX – EXTENT

CARTOON ANSWER: AFTER THEY ARGUED ABOUT THE WRINKLED CLOTHES,

THEIR PROBLEMS WERE – – –

TRUDOOIEN = IRONED OUT

Good Morning, Everyone!              👔 Are there more PRESSING Issues? 👔

🎶Guess there are times when we all need to share a little pain…And IRONING out the rough spots is the hardest part when memories remain…🎶

👔 To what EXTENT do couples go to get the wrinkles out?
Some argue ’bout the simplest things, some others fume and pout.
I get that hanging up the shirts might keep the wrinkles less
But would it cause a war of words? …I doubt it, I confess…
I TRULY feel it’s not worth it, especially as we see,
That he’s doing the ironing, so why’s it bother she?
I think we’re missing something here, I think the story’s more…
If there’s to be a BOXING match…somethings hiding for sure.
I have a small suggestion…Why bother go through this?
There’s always a dry cleaners, drop them off and live in bliss.
Just take those shirts and DITTO on the rest of all those clothes…
If this is what they’re stressing with, the problems now disposed!
Then they can concentrate on something else to fight about,
Cause I think a deeper problem’s needing to be IRONED OUT…👔

Today’s words, all old favorites, were easy, breezy and perfect for a day when I’m so PRESSED for time. So let’s adDRESS our cartoon. We see a couple, arguing over IRONING. The woman seems a little more STEAMED up then the man. She’s telling him that by not hanging the shirts, it’s caused more WRINKLES to SET IN. Personally, I don’t get it. Why get so HEATED UP over a few WRINKLES? You get upset, your blood pressure inCREASES…Over a few SHIRTS? Should this cause such disCORD? WATER the odds these two have bigger issues? There’s IRONy in here somewhere, but as I said, I’m PRESSED for time…So let’s strike while the IRON’s HOT, CLOTHES this out, and just get to today’s solution…They argued over the WRINKLES.. They agreed on hanging the SHIRTS…Our question asks..After the argument, their Problems were…IRONED OUT. Boom! WEARed you think we were going with this? Pretty cut and DRY, right? Good one, David. Ok, eye candy. The STEAM emitting from the IRON is pretty cool…Both of them depicted in bare feet is different..Have we seen that beFOUR? Hmm. Know WATT? I’ll just go with the WILCO logo on the woman’s T-Shirt…But hasn’t that BIRD flown…? Has Wilco FOLDED? Is this a PLUG?  Maybe it’ll all come out in the WASH. So, There you go, Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! And keep in mind…It’s very important today that we believe in Freedom of the PRESS…Just go out and get no-IRON clothes…👔 🙋🏻

CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN FIREFIGHTERS RESCUED THE KITTENS FROM A TREE, THEY AVERTED A – – –

APAOTHERSCT = “CAT-ASTROPHE”

Good morning Jumble friends and happy Monday! If you do the Jumble during the weekend, you’ll no doubt remember Saturday’s puzzle which had a very challenging surprise answer paired with a stellar cartoon. If you happened to skip it, do yourself a favor and seek it out. It was so much fun that you don’t want to miss out!

Monday’s are usually a cakewalk, so with that mindset I began my solve. The first two clue words were no trouble whatsoever. THEORY took only a few seconds to decipher and ended up being my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day. If you had trouble solving it, my suggestion would be that when you see a “Y” in a Jumble, you should try making words that end in “Y”. Of course it doesn’t always work, but if your drawing a blank it doesn’t hurt to give it a try. Moving along to the final clue word, the S and T were in their correct location making SCULPT instantly visible. And just as quick as I began, I was ready to venture over to the cartoon.

The setting for today’s panel is a scene that really warms your heart but in reality very rarely occurs. We see a firefighter climbing up a ladder to rescue a kitten that’s “stuck” in a tree while the other firefighter hands one over to its owner that’s just been “saved”. The owner in this case is a stereotypical “cat lady” that looks a bit crazy standing there in her house lounger dress and slippers. She’s thankful to have her fur-babies back and maybe this time she’ll keep a closer eye on them.

My favorite detail of this piece was very small but definitely caught my eye. If you look at the right arm of the firefighter on the ground you’ll notice that he has an American flag patch on his arm. Some might think that Jeff made a boo-boo by having drawn it backwards, but you’d be incorrect! The flag displayed on the right shoulder of a uniform must ALWAYS have the blue star field be in the highest position of honor which is towards the front. An easy way to think of it is by thinking of the patch not as a “patch” but as a loose flag attached to his arm like one on a flagpole. As the firefighter walks forward, the blue star field advances first leaving the red and white stripes to flow to the back. Great job, Jeff!!!

The solution to this jumble was an instant solve for me after reading the dialogue and sentence. The letter layout definitely kept the answer well hidden, but the visual clues were more than enough to get the job done.

Lastly, it’s the beginning of a new month so that means it’s time for another prize giveaway! The prize this month is going to be fantastic so keep an eye on the homepage where I’ll post all the details later today. Have a marvelous Monday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
