CARTOON ANSWER:

THE PEOPLE ON THE PLATFORM WAVING TO THE DEPARTING TRAIN WERE —

SSYNEARDBTE = “BYE – STANDERS”

Happy Wednesday everyone!  No trouble with any of the clue words this morning, although BEETLE caused me to pause for a couple of seconds.  We’ve seen WIZARD recently so that was probably the easiest of the bunch.  With all of the clue words solved, it was full steam ahead to the cartoon!  When I read the cartoon sentence, I had a feeling that BYE would be the 3-letter word in the solution.  Writing out the letters, BYE was there leaving STANDERS for an instant solve and a quick finish to another great Jumble.  Looking at the cartoon, Jeff gave us two great clues to figure out the locomotive’s location.  The first was the sign on the train that said “Nickel Plate Road” and the second was the station sign of “Fishers”.  Not being a train enthusiast, I had to google both clues together to come up with Fishers, Indiana.  Hopefully our friends near that location can give us some insight into it’s history and importance.  Enjoy your day and I’ll see you tomorrow!

CARTOON ANSWER:

AFTER RIDING THE UNICYCLE FOR MILES, THE RIDER WAS —

ETYUIGENDRO = ONE TIRED GUY

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  Mr. Hoyt has been choosing some excellent clue words lately and he continued the trend this morning with more unique and fresh material that didn’t disappoint.  DRAGON would be my pick for the most challenging word, with PIGEON a close second.  Both gave me a few seconds of a delay but were quickly solved and allowed me to move along to the cartoon.  Reading the dialogue and sentence, I picked up on the unicycle clue and had ONE in my head but wasn’t sure about the rest.  Writing out the clue letters, I saw ONE and crossed it out.  GUY came next leaving TIRED for a split second solve and another great Jumble.  The letter layout was fantastic and it would have been a more difficult solve if I didn’t have ONE to start with.  Poor Lenny looks exhausted and I hope he didn’t ride too far on that unicycle without a helmet!  Perhaps he just took it off because he was done cycling for the day.  Enjoy your Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow.  😀

YOUGEANHELRPP = “HUNGARY” PEOPLE

Good Monday morning my friends and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun!  Jumping right into the clue words this morning, HERBAL gave me the hardest time and wouldn’t give itself up.  I saw that one word of the final solution contained quotes so I decided it would be best to solve it now rather than take my chances backing into it.  Breaking out my trusty notepad, I self-jumbled the anagram 4 times before it became visible.  With palm to face I moved along to the cartoon portion of the program.  Good thing I chose to do my newspaper version of the game this morning because the online paper that I usually use to see the fantastic detail had the 5/22 (next Monday’s) puzzle!  I’ll have to check back later to see if they published next Monday’s lottery numbers as well while they were at it.  Reading the cartoon sentence, I knew the answer immediately and filled in the boxes.  Just to double check my work, I went ahead and wrote out my clue letters and was pleased to see that all was in order.  I apologize that I can’t offer much insight into the cartoon details because I was stuck with the tiny print version.  If you saw something interesting, please leave a message in the comments section.  Have a marvelous Monday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

Mike, This one’s for you!  💤 ☕️🍩 💤

Good morning, Everyone!      💐❤️ Happy Mother’s Day! ❤️💐

Some of us were hoping for a Mother’s Day themed puzzle…well, I guess this is as close as we’ll get! Conception!  (At least Jeff and Dave didn’t make today’s venture LABORious)! Our words were pretty much CHILD’S play: OBLONG, AGENCY, LIQUID, ACCESS, leaping right off the page; we’ve seen these words before.  I’m sure we’ve seen LETTER and VIABLE also, but the scrambling of them seemed to give off a kind of re-BIRTH!  Viable’s a funny word for this Jumble though, because broken down, VItA means “life”,  and Able, “to be possible”.  Could they have CONCEIVED this on purpose? Gentlemen, care to comment? Anyway, on to the solve…Once again, the proof’s always in the pudding! The doctor stating, ‘…this would be unthinkable‘, the Mom stating, “I don’t believe it”, the Father… Well, the Father pulling his hair out!…LOL…You read it, you see it, you solve it! INCONCEIVABLE!  You recite the, “I before E, except after C” mantra, and there you go!..As always, good graphics, better dialogue, best of puns! A blessing!

And so, holding true to the theory, ‘the more things change, the more they remain the same’: Mike will be back tomorrow, the woman’s shirt is purple!!!, and life goes on!

VITA BREVIS!  Life IS short; Make the most of today!

(And here’s to you, Mom💔)

Wishing  everyone a beautiful Sunday!  💐 🙋🏻

Mike, This one’s for you: 🍾

Good morning, Everyone.   🍎 Happy National Apple Pie Day: 🍎                                    Mike has the morning off,  I’m here to welcome you to the weekend.

Our words today are as easy as pie, the one exception maybe being PAYOFF. Those two-in-one words can sometimes be tricky, and I blinked once or twice before I saw the word. Very good scramble. Letters at the ready, on to the cartoon! Not sure if it was intentional, but Jeff has taken some poetic license here, and given us a poem within the dialogue! “Life…wife!” How cute is that? I’m reading it and thinking back to English 101 and iambic pentameter comes to mind. Iambic pentameter! It’s a word game, it’s a cartoon…it’s 6 o’clock on a Saturday morning…get over it! The cartoon: We have a man, Raised glass in hand, A ring we see…Ah, there’s the key!  (Yes, yes, I know. Sorry, I just couldn’t resist)!  It’s a PROPOSAL!…And we see he’s making a toast…And there you have it! PROPOSED A TOAST!  How cute is THAT? The couple, along with the waiter are raising champagne flutes.  The other diners, (which OF COURSE includes the requisite blonde woman dressed in purple – Seriously,  what’s up with this?),  seem to be joining in with a wine and perhaps a scotch on the rocks? Smiling faces all around! Really good graphic, exceptional dialogue. Kudos! Cheers! Congratulations!  I think today, Jeff has shown us that..To some, marriage is just a WORD…To others….it’s a SENTENCE!

Wishing Everyone a wonderful day, and to those of us here in the Northeast, I hope you’re 🎶”Singin’ In The Rain…🎶  ☔️ 💦🙋🏻

Good morning everyone and happy Friday!  Did anyone else think that clue words were amazing this week?  Looking back through the blog, my favorites in no particular order were CAVIAR, TROPHY, SYMBOL, BEYOND, SYRUPY and ACCENT.  After today’s puzzle, I would add CINCH and MODEM to the list and there are enough words there for one heck of a JUMBLE!  No problems with any of the anagrams this morning and I was at the cartoon in seconds.  I didn’t even read the sentence and dialogue after I wrote out the clue letters as I saw KING right away and the rest fell into place for the finish.  Have a wonderful Friday and an early Happy Mother’s Day to all the mom’s out there.  See you bright and early Monday morning!  🤴🏼

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  The clue words have really impressed me so far this week as fresh words make the puzzle more satisfying to solve.  ACCENT gave me a hint of trouble causing me to pause just for a moment before it came into view.  Moving on to the cartoon answer, Mr. Hoyt decided to give us another word in quotes for the third time this week which is unusual yet appreciated.  Looking at the 11 clue letters, I noticed RESPECT was clumped together at the end but surely he wouldn’t make it that easy of a solve.  I took the bait anyway and tried it but of course it didn’t work.  THEM came into view next and after crossing it out, PERCHES took a few seconds to decipher for the finish.  The cartoon that Jeff gave us contained no obvious details that would help you solve the puzzle if you got stuck so you really had to use your noodle for this one.  Enjoy your Thursday and I look forward to seeing you right back here tomorrow!

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE NEW EMPLOYEE AT THE NUCLEAR POWER PLANT WAS A —

NEYGUFEONDBLER = BUNDLE OF ENERGY

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  We’re at the midpoint of the week and the puzzles have been absolutely fantastic so far.  Today’s puzzle continued the trend of unique and fresh clue words that weren’t pushovers.  BEYOND would be my pick for the most difficult of the bunch, and it took me a few minutes before coming into view.  BLAZER also resisted a bit but I think I was just frustrated from not solving BEYOND as fast as I would have liked.  With all of the clue words completed, it was time for the cartoon!  After reading the dialogue and sentence and looking at my letters, nothing came to mind which was very puzzling.  BLUNDER was the only word I saw but there were no 7-letter words in the solution.  My best bet was to solve the 2-letter word and go from there.  I tried ON first but couldn’t find anything else so I went to OF.  ENERGY finally jumped out at me leaving BUNDLE for the finish.  Did you notice that Jeff gave a name to the character on the left (Jere Jenkins)?  You’d need a magnifying glass to read his name tag or just look at the attached picture.  I did a quick search for Mr. Jenkins, however; I didn’t come up with anything relevant so perhaps he’s a friend or fan of the puzzle.  Also present was the “I ❤️ Jumble” coffee mug which can purchased at the link below.   It’s a great mug and I use mine every morning to display my Jumble pride.  Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!  🙂

Happy Tuesday morning everyone!  The clue words were excellent choices with EXERT being the only one that gave itself up upon first glance.  TROPHY took the longest and would be my pick for the most difficult anagram to decipher.  Moving on to the cartoon, I noticed the quotes around the second word and made no attempt on a blind solve.  Writing out my letters, NEXT popped out like a sore thumb, most likely because the letters were grouped so close together.  That left me with a quick solve for STORE and the finish.  The store names were cute, but it was the detail in NICE SLICES that made the cartoon really interesting.  Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

AFTER WATCHING THEIR TEAM BLOW A HUGE LEAD, THE BEER PUB TURNED INTO A —

HNBIWEAR = “WHINE” BAR

Good Monday morning everyone and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun!  The clue words were more difficult than usual for a puzzle so early in the week.  I goofed on WEAKEN and wrote down AWAKEN as my answer which gave me some trouble while solving the cartoon answer.  CAVIAR had me stumped for a couple of minutes but it finally came to me after a bit of self-jumbling.  With all of the clue words completed (at least I thought I had them solved correctly) I started the cartoon.  A couple of things jumped out at me right off the bat.  First of all, Jeff had David wearing a shirt with a “B” on it.  The man sitting next to him also had a “B” on his cap.  Was this cartoon taking a jab at my Red Sox???  There was a man pouring wine at the bar in the background which was odd as the cartoon sentence said it was a beer pub.  Looking at my letters, I found BAR straight away and jotted it down.  That left me with 5 letters that made no sense.  I went back to the clue words and found my mistake almost immediately.  A quick shuffle of the letters led me to find WHINE which solved the pun as well as the cartoon conundrum.  Even if Jeff was poking fun at the Red Sox, I thought the word choices and the cartoon made for a challenging puzzle that I’d enjoy seeing again in the Jumble App, calendar, or in one of the Jumble books that they publish.  Have a great day everyone and I’ll see you tomorrow!  😀⚾️

Good morning Mike, This one’s for you! 🍸

Good morning, Everyone.  💃🏻 Happy Cinco de Mayo! 💃🏻

Ok, Ok…Calm down! I can hear the collective “What..”? from here!  No need to panic. Mike just asked me to post the words this morning because he had something to attend to. He’ll be here later today…

This puzzle! There are no words..(HA..you should be so lucky! I got the words right here…)! Right off the bat, I have to say that it took great restraint for me not to put an exclamation point after today’s answer. “THOREAU” WORK..!!!  I’m kvelling here! But keeping to the script, that would be wrong of me. So, let me PONDer this!  How, how..give me a word..Clever? creative? BRILLIANT!  I actually yelled “Yes”, and fist pumped the air! Remember just yesterday we sang Jeff’s artistic praises?  Well today, we raise our Margaritas in unison. Dave…..you had me at..Thoreau!

The words: Carry:check. Taboo:check. Unlike:check. Warmth? Blink…Pat, can I buy a vowel? But then the W jumped out at me, and Warmth. So, to the solve. Personally, I love the “…”  answers. It conjures up all kinds of possibilities. But before I even got there, I read the hint, and wait…, What?  Henry David?… Thoreau?  Could it be? (Refer above to the fist pump)! I glanced at my letters, wrote it in, and then, Work. He was known for his Thorough Work!!! Again, the kvelling!  Even if you were ‘out that day’ during English 101, Proofread, the Pond, WALDEN in quotes, he served this up to us on a silver platter! “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity”….. (Oh, you were out that day?…LOL)!

All I can say is, Mike, you gave me a gift today. I think if you saw this puzzle before time, you would have rescheduled that appointment! This is a Jumble-AYA!

And, speaking of hot, spicy food..( See how I segued right into this? I have no shame)..This year, especially,…Let’s all celebrate this Mexican holiday! Wear a sombrero, strap on your espadrilles, kick up your tacones, and raise those Margaritas! (Just try to keep them at a minimum, because tomorrow…the Mint Juleps)!  Wishing us all a great day! 🍸💃🏻🙋🏻

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT EVER INSTALLED WAS POPULAR —

FEETHRMOTOGG = FROM THE GET-GO

Happy Thursday morning, my friends!  It was all green lights for me while cruising through the clue words this morning.  JOGGER would be my pick for the more difficult word of the group, so hopefully it didn’t cause a traffic jam for you.  I noticed two of the words had the -ER suffix (FEWER and JOGGER) but it wasn’t enough to cause me any problems so I headed south to the cartoon portion of my daily Jumble commute.  I didn’t attempt a blind solve this morning so I jotted down my clue letters and read the sentence and dialogue.  From the clue letters, I noticed THE immediately so I crossed it out.  GO seemed like a logical choice for the two letter word which led me to see GET.  Last but not least was FROM for the finish and now I could enjoy the cartoon.  Doing some research on traffic signals, the first electric traffic light was installed on August 5th, 1914 at the corner of East 105th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio.  I assume that this is the corner we see in Jeff’s cartoon, and the clothing on the men pictured seems to match the period.  There is a hood ornament on the car on the left but I couldn’t figure it out what it was.  I’m sure someone will know and can fill us in (hopefully)!  Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow.  🙂🚦

CARTOON ANSWER:  AFTER A LONG DAY OF SHOWING OFF HIS NEW ELECTRIC BULB, THOMAS EDISON WAS – – –

HIELOUKITTAGL = OUT LIKE A LIGHT

Good Wednesday morning everyone!  The first two clue words were a snap, but the last two gave me some pause.  As soon as I tried the K in KITTEN, the answer came right away.  GAGGLE took a few seconds more as it was jumbled very well and it’s a word that you don’t see too often.  With all of the clue words completed, it was on to the cartoon.  After reading the dialogue and sentence, I didn’t need the clue letters to solve this one.  I guess you could say the lightbulb went on in my head and the answer just flowed out for the finish.  I did a search for some fun facts about Thomas Edison and here’s what I found.  He was born on February 11, 1847 in Milan, Ohio.  His children were nicknamed “Dot” and “Dash” in honor of his early telegraph days.  Also he had a tattoo on his forearm of a quincunx (like the face of the number “five” on a dice cube).  I hope everyone has a great day and I’ll see you tomorrow!  😀💡
