VLTEEV = VELVET

OPYSKO = SPOOKY

UNISEF = INFUSE

GIHREH= HIGHER

CATDEH =DETACH

WHEN THE INNOVATIVE MAIL CARRIER BUILT HIS OWN MAIL CART, HE:

PULVEESPONEHHEDET = PUSHED THE ENVELOPE

Mike, This one’s for you! 🍾

Good morning, everyone!     Happy Sunday!

Where do I begin..?  Plural, I had to write down. Once on paper, check. Velvet, check. Spooky, check. UNISEF, you know I’m saying UNICEF….(So then I’m thinking donations, so then I go to maybe I don’t give enough, so then I want to go check my tax returns….this Ladies and Gentlemen is the result of lack of sleep and AADD)! LOL. Back to the puzzle..So I think Fusion, Ef..something, I had to write this one down too. Ah, Infuse, check. Higher, a little tic, but check. And finally, Detach, check.

Now to the answer. I saw words that would fit the first answer word:  Solved, Opened, Vetoed. Show of hands, how many of us were looking for that M to put Stamp somewhere in there? Just me? But then, there’s no A either. I thought from the initial read that the middle word would be His  I wanted it to be His!  But the only word that could have given me the I, was Infuse. So, of course, I go back and look at it…and OF COURSE, there’s UNICEF again. So now I’m convinced sleep really IS essential to good mental health. I see that I’m right with Infuse, so it’s not going to be His.  (This throws off  the whole path I was going down). So I have to rephrase, and it has to be The, or One. I go with The. The H’s and the V and all those Es were throwing my concentration off. The blurry eyes didn’t help! Seven minutes into staring at the letters, I decided to concentrate on the cartoon. And there it was. The carrier’s boss, I assume, has a gruff look on his face. And the clincher for me? His hand.  He’s gesturing a Stop, or a No Way. And then, it hit me. I could have had a V8! No, really I could have had a V8 instead of the orange juice….Oh right, the puzzle…The main office won’t approve…the carrier was pushing his luck.  Pushing the Envelope!  It should have been such an easy solve, but I just couldn’t see it.

Todays puzzle SEALS it for me. No one welcomes Mike back more than I. (Ok, maybe some…HA)!  The weather’s gotten better here, I hope everyone is safe from the storms. Wishing us all a blessed Sunday.

Until tomorrow….Oh no, wait… Thank you all, it’s been a pleasure! ❤️🙋🏻

THE RHYMING SHERIFF SPECIALLIZED IN:

JOICICSPEUTTE =   POETIC JUSTICE

Good morning, everyone!   Happy 100th Day!      (Bipartisanship)

…5:14 AM, EDT. SI, NY, in the throes of a massive rain storm. Thunder, lightning, buckets of teeming rain thrashing against the windows.  The lights flickering twice. Claps of rumbling thunder, deafening, strikes of lightning illuminating every room. I sit alone, coffee growing cold beside me, as I stare into…Oh, wait…Sorry, wrong page.  This is Jumble Answers!  HA-HA

Today, we’re given some choice words. Joint, (Jinto? What the heck is Jinto)?, Blink, Blink, PASS…Spruce, Mutter. Ok, back to number 2. As a Jumble purist, I always want to finish my words first. Staring, staring….Ah, Cynic.  I should have recognized it immediately, I was called cynical just last night! (Please refer back to the 100 days greeting). This word was expertly scrambled for only 5 letters, don’t you think?  To the solution: 13 letters;  as I’m writing them down, I look at the cartoon: the cop reciting a poem, there’s a J….(we don’t see a lot of J’s)… Poetic Justice! How clever is that? Excellent words, excellent answer! The cartoon. Blue clothes, nondescript yellow car. Maybe someone out there may know what kind.  I have a few male friends who always amaze me when it comes to cars. They’ll see one, and ..”Oh, ’74 Pontiac, turbo engine, four on the floor”, or, ’08 Cadillac, 4-speed automatic, 275 horse power”, or whatever, you get the gist.  Go ahead,  ask me:  YOU: “So, what kinda car ‘dja get”?  ME: “Um, blue”.

All in all, great puzzle for a Saturday morning. I didn’t have the greatest day y’day, felt like I kind of phoned the puzzle in, but things turned around last night. I bought some new shoes, the Mets won, and I took a stand. 😉   I may just quit therapy! LOL!!

Storms over, sun has risen. Let’s get out there and enjoy the day! Until tomorrow. 🙋🏻

SOKKI = KIOSK

VHIRET = THRIVE

TOTOPA = POTATO

CARTOON ANSWER: THE PATIENT WAS TOLD TO LOWER HIS BLOOD PRESSURE, AND HE:

TETKIOTHROATO = TOOK IT TO HEART

Mike, This one’s for you! 🍧

Good morning, everyone!            Finally…Friday!

After a few days of ABC words, today I blinked at Teeth. Could be something about the H encased in Es;  I don’t know, I just sat here and stared at it. No STALL at Kiosk, first saw rivet with Thrive, ( H again…What the H)?, and then Potato.

Today’s cartoon really didn’t offer that much of a clue, not graphically anyway. The dialogue was the key. Numbers, lowering blood pressure…Common phrase, “Took it to Heart”. Didn’t skip a beat…

HEARTfully wishing you all a good day…Until tomorrow. ❤️🙋🏻

CARTOON ANSWER: WHEN THEY FIGURED OUT HOW TO WRITE DOWN MUSIC, IT WAS:

OTELNAB:  NOTABLE

Mike, This one’s for you! 🍻

Good morning, everyone!   Happy Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day!

Ah, MUSIC:  🎶🎶🎶 …With charms to soothe the savage beast. ( NOTE: no quotation marks, I’m intentionally paraphrasing). Beast just makes so much more sense! Where would we be without Music, the true universal language? We all love words, (or we wouldn’t be reading this), but what’s the words without the Music? 🎶🎶🎶

Today’s words, once again, only took me a MINUET.  Even Absurd, which SOUNDS absurd, because I always think it needs a P. There seems to be nothing cryptic about the last few puzzles; great puzzles, but easy, breezy obvious answers. Today’s cartoon made it so simple, with the NOTES on the sheet music, the one monk using the word extraordinary, and the other the word CYMBALS! (You know I had to get that one in…I was chomping at the bit the minute I saw the puzzle! I’m not proud)!…HA…And finally, within the few letters needed to solve, WRITE off we saw the word NOTE.

There are enough puns and one liners relating to today’s puzzle, to choke a horse. (Again, with the reference to horses; I could have used these the other day)! Raise your BATONS, fellow word PUNdits, and PITCH a few of your own.  We could make beautiful 🎶 music 🎶 together!

Hoping you hear your favorite song today. Until tomorrow. 🎶🎶🎶🙋🏻🎶🎶🎶

CARTOON ANSWER:  THE FISHERMEN WANTED TO REEL IN SOME FISH, BUT THEY WERE ONLY ABLE TO:

SHYCOCMATSARE = CATCH SOME RAYS

Mike, This one’s for you! 🍹

Good morning, everyone!

Happy National Pretzel Day!  CARPe diem!

Like shooting FISH in a barrel! That’s how we can look at today’s words. Easy, breezy. Filled them in REEL quick.  As for the answer, nothing to TACKLE here. It’s a very commonly known phrase; and even if it’s not one you’re that familiar with, the dialogue: “Pass the sunscreen”, and the cartoon showing the men relaxing with rays emanating from the sun, tipped the SCALES!

So, Puzzle CHUMS, you may be wondering “What’s the CATCH”? ….”Where’s the beef”?   (Not everyone likes fish)!  I guess today was simply a little treat, just for the HALIBUT!   WATER  you think?   Let MINNOW!

Raining here in NY for the second day, but I wish you all a day in the sun.

Until tomorrow.🎣  🚣 🙋🏻

Mike, this one’s for you! 🍷

Good morning, everyone!            🔬Up and ATOM!🔬

“Who cares to define, what CHEMISTRY  this is; who cares with your lips on mine, how ignorant bliss is…”
I hear the word Chemistry, and this is what I conjure up. The math-science-physics Chemistry? (See above: Ignorance)! With that being said, this puzzle! So simple, but oh so clever! I tip my (laboratory) glass to David! We may have seen these words before, but todays mix was good. Elope, Brick, Rather, (even with those pesky double consonants)? No MATTER. And lastly, Podium. I thought Opium, letter short, ah, Podium! These words were JOULES! Today’s SOLUTION: They were sitting at the TABLE! “Same time”, “every day”..the dialogue was so helpful; but the clincher was the chart on the wall: the Periodic Table! It wasn’t that clear in my paper, (even though it was in yellow), but then I looked on line and I couldn’t believe the detail! (I’m going to try and post the graphic).  Major, Major props to Jeff. Crash course: Chemistry 101!

Here in NY, it’s rainy, windy, and raw. Spring has sprung a leak! Hopefully, it’s better by you. I wish you all a great day, and don’t take any wooden NICKELS!

Until tomorrow, 🔬🙋🏻

Mike, this one’s REALLY for you! 🍺

MONDAY MONDAY, So good to me”. Depends on how you look at it! Recognize today’s puzzle? Somehow look familiar? Deja vu…to you…too? (LOL)

An on line paper mistakenly printed this puzzle last week, so we got to see it ahead of time. For those who may have missed it, I defer to the Master: Here’s  Mikes’ post:

Good Monday morning my friends and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun! Monday puzzles are usually a snap to complete and today’s game continued the trend. The clue words were nothing to “SNEEZE” at though, with FORMAT giving me the most trouble followed by PLUME at a close second. With all of the clue words solved, it was on to the baseball themed cartoon. Just look at those luxury box seats and the folks enjoying some very swanky vittles! I’m sure that was a day they won’t soon forget. With only six letters to complete the pun, I’m almost positive that everyone was able to knock this one out of the ball park. When I watch baseball games on television, I often see those luxury seats unfilled at the larger stadiums and it’s a shame. Often times you’ll see the seats empty at the start of the game and near the last couple of innings they are nearly full. Probably fans sneak down to get a little closer to the action! I was trying to think of a city where my new favorite team the “Jumbles” or “Jumblers” hail from. Jackson, Jersey City, Jacksonville, or Joliet are all that I can think of that start with J. Perhaps they can be the worlds first online baseball team and we’ll call them the Jumble Answer Jumblers! Have a great day and remember to always swing for the fences. 😎⚾️👍🏻

So, there you have it! Hope everyone has a great day!  ⚾️🙋🏻

Mike, This one’s for you! 🍸

Good morning, everyone! 📚 Happy World Book Day! 📚

Sorry this is a little late, did Church first; the whole time thinking: I’m SADDLEd with this responsibility!  LOL.  Great Sunday puzzle. Glanced at it all with UnBRIDLED enthusiasm, saw perhaps a tiny BIT of a challenge, but there’ll be no NEIGHsayers amongst us! And…they’re OFF…

EXTENT, check. AUBURN, check. FINALE, check. MATTOO, (Matt, who? is in my head), but then, check. (But, it’s been like what? 20 something years now, and I still can’t look at Potato or Tomato, without Dan Quayle popping into my head…I digress). ORIGIN – Blink- Ironing? Only 1 N, Ironic, No C;  Ah, ORIGIN, check. And, lastly, VISUAL..pause. Wrote it down, check.  We’re in the Homestretch.  The Answer: A lot of letters here. Wrote them all down, all the while telling myself, ‘Don’t even think Horse…’.Ok, I’m seeing horses and stables…BA-BOOM. STABLE, and then I HERD the phrase in my head. Saw the V, and knew I was on the right TRACK. 11 letter word! Not all that 🎶 Easy Like Sunday Morning 🎶  For those of us without the color advantage: Green grass, brown horse.  And the name RUFF FARMS? I have no idea, maybe someone can BALE me out?

So, that’s all she RODE. Enjoy your Sunday, and, let’s Make America Smart again..Take a book to lunch! Until tomorrow. 🐴 🙋🏻

WHEN CHILDREN PLAYED WITH THEIR NEW SLINKY TOYS IN APRIL OF 1946, IT WAS:

GNMSTRIIPE = SPRINGTIME

Good morning everyone!  My Freshman outing! SPRINGing into action…
Breezed through the first two words, with TRICKY slightly living up to it’s name. Rickety first came to mind (?) IMPEDE caused a little eye tic, because at first glance I thought, ‘ends in ED’. Hard habit to break. The answer came in like a breath of fresh air; the drawing giving us the Mother stating winter’s over, and the wording mentioning April. And the Slinky! 🎶🎶 “It’s Slinky it’s Slinky, ….Everyone knows it’s Slinky”! 🎶🎶 The SPRINGy toy! We were given top notch graphics: the blooming tree, sprouting buds, and that good old tire swing.  And Mom! What about Mom?! That hairdo so chic, the apron, the skirt, her makeup on, and wearing heels! In the house! The women of the 40’s were so glamorous!! Today’s puzzle…All in all, child’s play!

Wishing everyone a great Saturday, and a SPRING in your step! Until tomorrow🙋🏻

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE LAST TIME HUMANS WALKED ON THE LUNAR SURFACE, IT WAS —

MONSONGMAAOY = MANY MOONS AGO

Happy Friday everyone!  Here we stand at the precipice of the weekend, and I can’t wait to board the plane and jet to some place warm.  Before the fun begins, I have to conquer one last puzzle, so this is how it went.  The first two clue words came instantly, with STIGMA causing me to stumble for a few seconds.  After that, CANOPY came just as fast as the first two words and I arrived at the cartoon.  I didn’t have a guess for the final solution (and didn’t feel like spending too much time on it either) so I wrote out all the clue letters.  It was an instant solve after seeing MOON in the letter layout leaving a great pun to end the week.  There weren’t any hidden details in the cartoon that I could find, but the black background really made the astronauts pop.  The dialogue reminded me of my youth in the 80’s and everyone was talking about how flying cars would be everywhere but here we are and I haven’t seen one yet.  Maybe by 2030 — or sooner.

This is my last post for a week and Angela from our forum has decided to take over the reigns in my absence.  It’ll be fun to read someone else’s take on the puzzle and I wish her the best of luck.  I’ll be thinking of everyone while I’m on the beach, toes deep in the warm sand and sipping umbrella drinks.  See you all bright and early on May 1st!!!  😎✈️🏝☀️

CRONTOAEEDSMP = COMPARED NOTES

Good Thursday morning everyone!  TOPAZ was the only word to give me a hint of trouble today.  After a couple of looks, it popped into view and I raced along to the cartoon.  I had no guess for the final answer so I wrote out my letters and read the cartoon dialogue and sentence.  With still no answer in mind, I had no choice but to break out my notepad for assistance.  I tried separating the vowels and consonants as so many of you have suggested but it didn’t work for me.  A little self-jumbling led me to find NOTE.  With a bit more jumbling, I stumbled upon COMPARED and added the remaining S to NOTE for the finish.  Not an easy solve for me today, and credit must be given to David and Jeff for keeping the final solution well hidden.  Enjoy your day my friends and I’ll see you tomorrow.  😀🎼

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  The first two clue words were a snap to figure out, leaving me with two words that just wouldn’t come into focus.  I figured out BOVINE after a few seconds of thinking about it but I had to break out my notepad to re-jumble FILLET a couple of times before it gave itself up.  With all of the clue words solved, I started the solve on the 6-letter solution.  No answer came to mind, so I wrote out my letters and found LEAF instantly and RE was left for the finish.  A very timely pun for this time of year!  The weather here today is overcast and chilly so I left the pellet stove on to keep some warmth in the house.  Enjoy your Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow.  😀

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE CEMETERY’S NEW SECURITY GUARD WORKED THE —

SHRGDAYFRTAIVE = GRAVEYARD SHIFT

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  The clue words weren’t all that difficult today with ACTIVE causing me to do a slight double take before it finally came into view.  I was excited that I was able to speed through them because after peeking at the cartoon, I knew we were in for a real treat.  The final solution was a quick solve after writing out all of my clue letters and I solved it in a flash.  You probably know by now that I go bonkers for cartoons with tons of detail and Jumble artist Jeff Knurek really stepped up his game today delivering a top-notch masterpiece!  What puts this over the top for me is the fact that it’s set in the dark of night with a barely visible crescent moon in the background.  The guard’s flaslight directs our attention to the gravestone of “IMA PUNSTER” where a bunch of jumbled words are visible giving us a second jumble puzzle for the day — a jumble within a jumble!!!  Deciphering was a breeze and I’ll enhance the stone for those that weren’t able to see it too well in their newspaper.  I can only assume that Jeff drew the looming figure on top of the stone as a tribute to his friend and Jumble partner David Hoyt.  If you look closely, the imagery of the palm to face of the figure is a feeling we can all relate to when we get stumped from time to time.  Zooming in as close as I possibly could, the newspaper that is in front of the statue says “Jumble” on it.  This was without a doubt the most detailed piece of artwork that Jeff has bestowed upon us.  Take a few moments to take it all in as it’ll be awhile before Jeff can surpass this one!  Enjoy your Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow.  😀
