CARTOON ANSWER:

THE CHEMISTS ATE LUNCH EVERY DAY AT THE:

LPEBICRATEODI = PERIODIC TABLE

Mike, this one’s for you! ๐Ÿท

Good morning, everyone! Up and ATOM!

“Who cares to define, what CHEMISTRY  this is; who cares with your lips on mine, how ignorant bliss is…” I hear the word Chemistry, and this is what I conjure up. The math-science-physics Chemistry? (See above: Ignorance)! With that being said, this puzzle! So simple, but oh so clever! I tip my (laboratory) glass to Jeff and Dave! We may have seen these words before, but todays mix was good. Elope, Brick, Rather, (even with those pesky double consonants)? No MATTER. And lastly, Podium. I thought Opium, letter short, ah, Podium! These words were JOULES! Today’s SOLUTION: They were sitting at the TABLE! “Same time”, “every day”..the dialogue was so helpful; but the clincher was the chart on the wall: the Periodic Table! It wasn’t that clear in my paper, (even though it was in yellow), but then I looked on line and I couldn’t believe the detail! (I’m going to try and post the graphic).  Major, Major props to Jeff. Crash course: Chemistry 101!

Here in NY, it’s rainy, windy, and raw. Spring has sprung a leak! Hopefully, it’s better by you. I wish you all a great day, and don’t take any wooden NICKELS!

 Until tomorrow, ๐Ÿ”ฌ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • Oh, everyone, I forgot to mention, the guy saying, “Needs SALT”! I was rolling! Ladies, tell the truth, how many times have we heard this? …”Where’s the salt?” “Salt, you haven’t even tasted it yet”! ๐Ÿ˜€๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  1. No problem other than having to back into podium. I’m investing in a magnifying glass today since I’m missing too much working on the paper version. Your funny puns are a great way to start the day, Angela.

    • ๐ŸŽถSweet Carloline๐ŸŽถ,good morning! Thank you for the “sweet”compliment. Trust me, even with a magnifying glass, you’d never see the detail in this. I do the paper solve and then look on line to see the details in the graphic. I can tell you how to get it. But, I wanted you all to see the minute detail, so I played around with the settings, and I’m seeing it on the page but not with my post! I don’t know what the H— i did! I’m a menace with this! LOL..๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Thanks for showing us the table. I had no idea what was on the wall. I can find Jumble online, but I prefer doing the puzzle with just the newspaper, and I don’t want to miss any of the clues or fun details.

      • Caroline, I’m so glad it’s showing! Thank you for telling me. I don’t know if what everyone sees is the same as mine, because I have this “post power” or whatever it’s called, so I have 2 different pages open. I’m really playing it by ear…I never asked Mike how to get a graphic as part of the actual post. He gave me a crash course and I’m just winging it. I may have some way with words, but technical things? HA… A day late and a dollar short! That’s me! Yes, I agree. I’m old school, I like the paper way to do most everything, but I never realized what you can see by looking on line, especially since it can be magnified so large. Isn’t this cartoon amazing, tho? All those tiny symbols? May very well be his best cartoon yet! Mike will be kicking himself! LOL. Have a great day! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  3. Good morning. Angela,I enjoy your comments and your right telling Caroline that the magnifying glass will not help. The paper print is just too small. We are missing a lot by not using the computer. Podium took longer to get then all three words combined and I just gave up on the cartoon answer. I see how it would help rather than from the paper. We do miss a lot. “oh well”. Till tomorrow stay well.

    • Good morning, Paul. Thank your for the compliment. I enjoy the word play that can be associated with commenting. Yes, unfortunately the paper picture is way too small to see everything. Such a great cartoon. Podium caused everyone so far today to skip a beat! At least we try, right? Stay well also, and I hope you have a great day. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  4. OK Ange, you ask for it! Solved the CWs fine with a bit of a struggle on PODIUM. Saw TABLE right away but could only come up with PERIDIUM TABLE. Never heard of that but looked it up and voila’ there is such a thing. The defination made no sense with the puzzle so I just assumed I got cooked again…….I have no idea how the ‘M’ got in there! I bet no one else came up with an ‘M’….Happy now?????

    • Harry, Wasn’t that a TV show way back in the day? (She says, haltingly, trying to defuse the situation)! Come on, you know I made you smile! Let’s face it, sometimes the most obvious ones just go right over our heads. You know, the whole forest for the trees….And the M got in there from Podium, you just blinked too fast. No harm, no foul. Shake it off, big guy! And an I happy now, you ask? Contented maybe, happy, not so much! Wouldn’t be the same without you! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • So Harry. I’m stuck here until the dryer finishes, and I’m thinking…To come up with your word, you had a U, besides the M, from Podium. You were missing the O. And from Brick, the C. So: OC. (Now if this were me, It’d explain a lot)! I digress. Anyway, so, minus O, minus C, add the U, add the M…let’s see: add the 4, carry the 2…HA! No wonder you missed Periodic! And just in case you’re interested..My choice is you get a lot of ‘wouldn’t be the same without you’. ?? Do I win the Cupid Doll? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  5. I had the puzzle answer and the first three words in 30 seconds. I then had to back into podium over an additional 4 minutes. Glad to know that I wasn’t the only one to stumble on that one!

    • Good morning, John. Yep, Podium was out to get us all! But we perfectly prevailed! A little alliteration, just to shake things up! At least no one thought Opium, like I did. HA! “JUST SAY NO…” Enjoy the day! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. EVERYONE: I’m not sure if you’re all seeing the graphic of the Periodic Table I sent. I tried adding it into the post, but no go; I’m still learning the ropes here. If you scroll down a little, you’ll see a box reading “NEXT POST”. Click on that and you’ll get the picture. Sorry if it’s causing any confusion. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  7. Just to be different, I struggled with rather. For some reason I saw two h’s rather than two r’s so came up with hearth which of course didn’t fit with periodic table which I knew had to be the answer. Once I got rather, it all fell into place. Some days my brain works more slowly than others. The print is quite small in my paper too especially on Saturday. For some reason that day’s puzzle is smaller than the other days of the week. I too prefer to do in on paper rather than on line. Have a good day everyone.

    • Good morning, Betty. Viva la difference’! And as long as the brain keeps working, who’s to judge speed? LOL. My paper has a decent size, but today’s cartoon is unusually good and unusually difficult to make out. Have you seen the graphic? If not, read what I wrote above about viewing it. It’s amazing! Wishing you a good day too! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  8. Ha Angela — Those words were JOULES??! ERG! I see that they have begun to DYNE at the table.
    Hope that doesn’t PRECIPITATE a re-VOLT.

Thought at first it was something like ‘laboratory bench’, but no ‘H’ available. Then noticed it was a table, looked up at the chart on the wall, ah-ha.

Did you see the graphic? It came out on a separate page, I have to find out what I did wrong. Exceptional art work, right? Get back to you on the salt…I ‘gotta get shaken’! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Steve, Steve, Steve…Where do I begin? Something really got lost here in the translation. I think it’s just not my day (it started out wrong and it’s been downhill since)! Maybe I just outwitted myself. Maybe I needed the ๐ŸŽถ๐ŸŽถ. It was never about CHEMISTRY per se. (Re-read my initial post). I really thought that fact came across. I don’t know anything about chemistry. And I meant nothing risquรฉ! I couldn’t even think to go there! It’s a public forum, it’s Mike’s baby. It’s not me! So I apologize to you and everyone else reading this if it came across that way. Maybe I just joke a little too much. So, did you finally listen to MY song? Maybe you’re just not a Sinatra fan? (I really have to find a synonym for maybe, huh)? Perhaps, perhaps? ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Yup, misunderstanding. The mildly risquรฉ song I’m referring to is the link *I* posted – NACL by Kate and Anna McGarrigle.
I’m going to listen to your song later. Right, Sinatra’s not exactly in my wheelhouse, but I don’t dislike him. It’s got to be better than the album I just saw in a thriftstore this PM – “Songs for Tired Golfers”!

        Liked by 1 person

      • Angela -I think some of these misunderstandings are caused by the wordpress format, in that not every entry has a ‘reply’ box with it. So I have to scroll up until I hit an entry with a reply box and comment there.
And in this case, it put my comment after yours instead of after mine where I wanted it. So bottom line, Not Our Fault – blame the computer. That usually works, I learned.

  9. Re: Needs salt — With me it’s pepper. Someone says, “How do you know it needs it?” or “You haven’t tasted it yet” — I’m like “What’s your point? I like the taste of pepper no matter how this tastes without it.”. Yep, I would fail my gourmet exam every time.

    • Steve, You know that expression, “There’s no accounting for taste”. It applies to food too! LOL. I really don’t get though why someone wouldn’t just try it first and then decide. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  10. Hi! Ditto to John. First 3 words, first glance. PODIUM, wrote the letters in a circle and then had it. Answer, following Steveโ€™s advice I allowed myself only 5 minutes total before putting the paper down for Mikeโ€™s โ€œfresh eyesโ€ and putting in laundry. While taking the first garment out of the hamper, I said TABLE and then had to think what you call the table. Oh, yes, PERIODIC. The cartoon details that made it fall in place for me were the table that monopolizes so much space (huge hint), the man saying โ€œneeds salt,โ€ and the wall chart.
John, I could breathe so much easier all day Sunday knowing that you were wearing your aspirator as you scraped that old paint off. My question to my husband is always, โ€œWhy donโ€™t you hire that done?โ€ His answer is always, โ€œI can do it myself!โ€
Enjoy your day, all!! See you tomorrow.

  11. Steve, Angela was right-on saying that guys flavor their food without taking a bite. I used to beg Jerry to just taste it first. Heโ€™s with you in peppering everything, but he uses lemon pepper. When we were younger, he always stirred his food and asked, โ€œWhereโ€™s the onion?โ€ I had to learn to use more & more and not dice it so small. Before that, when first married, he put some kind of green sauce on everything before tasting.

  12. Angela, you & Mike asked about our weekend parties. We missed the Fri. night one because of Jerryโ€™s acute UTI & hematuria. When I told you he felt like going to Sun. family lunch at our Mex. food place, you said itโ€™s nice to have a place where everybody knows your name, causing me to sing the refrain of that Cheers theme song for the rest of the day! Thanks a lot!! LOL
Sun lunch was GREAT! Ten family members congratulated Josh for being in the final 24 singers of more than 50 thousand who tried out, and we welcomed him home. I read our Wed comments to him, and he told me to thank all of you for all your support & votes.
A lady in a close-by booth came over to say nice things to him. Then Josh told us that our Phoenix-based NFL team, the Arizona Cardinals, had called to ask him about singing the national anthem before one of their future games!! Weโ€™ve got a real celebrity on our hands! On our way out the door, a lady in the parking lot ran up to say she had seen Josh on TV, wanted her picture taken with him, and asked him to please do โ€œthe kickโ€ for her which he did.
Daughter said 50 people came to her Fri. night potluck. When they finished eating, they took their chairs to the patio, Josh stood in the grass in front of them, and he answered all of their many questions about the whole experience. I think that was a wonderful idea! Thanks for asking.

    • Lelia. “Cheers” was what I had in mind when I said that to you! Great show, great song, right? How wonderful does Sunday sound? You must have been bursting with pride! And rightfully so. 24 out of 50K? I had no idea! That’s totally amazing! So, did you think for a moment that Josh could go out in public anymore like a regular Joe? I think those days are gone! You DO have a celebrity in your midst now! How wonderful for you, as a Grandmother; you get to love him twice as much! Once for himself, and again through your daughter. It doesn’t get any better than this. I’m happy the weekend turned out so well, and I’m glad Jerry was able to join in. I wish all the best to you and yours. Have a great night! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป
