Good morning Mike, This one’s for you! ๐Ÿธ

Good morning, Everyone. ย ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป Happy Cinco de Mayo! ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป

Ok, Ok…Calm down! I can hear the collective “What..”? from here! ย No need to panic. Mike just asked me to post the words this morning because he had something to attend to. He’ll be here later today…

This puzzle! There are no words..(HA..you should be so lucky! I got the words right here…)! Right off the bat, I have to say that it took great restraint for me not to put an exclamation point after today’s answer. “THOREAU” WORK..!!! ย I’m kvelling here! But keeping to the script, that would be wrong of me. So, let me PONDer this! ย How, how..give me a word..Clever? creative? BRILLIANT! ย I actually yelled “Yes”, and fist pumped the air! Remember just yesterday we sang Jeff’s artistic praises? ย Well today, we raise our Margaritas in unison. Dave…..you had me at..Thoreau!

The words: Carry:check. Taboo:check. Unlike:check. Warmth? Blink…Pat, can I buy a vowel? But then the W jumped out at me, and Warmth. So, to the solve. Personally, I love the “…” ย answers. It conjures up all kinds of possibilities. But before I even got there, I read the hint, and wait…, What? ย Henry David?… Thoreau? ย Could it be? (Refer above to the fist pump)! I glanced at my letters, wrote it in, and then, Work. He was known for his Thorough Work!!! Again, the kvelling! ย Even if you were ‘out that day’ during English 101, Proofread, the Pond, WALDEN in quotes, he served this up to us on a silver platter! “Simplicity, simplicity, simplicity”….. (Oh, you were out that day?…LOL)!

All I can say is, Mike, you gave me a gift today. I think if you saw this puzzle before time, you would have rescheduled that appointment! This is a Jumble-AYA!

And, speaking of hot, spicy food..( See how I segued right into this? I have no shame)..This year, especially,…Let’s all celebrate this Mexican holiday! Wear a sombrero, strap on your espadrilles, kick up your tacones, and raise those Margaritas! (Just try to keep them at a minimum, because tomorrow…the Mint Juleps)! ย Wishing us all a great day! ๐Ÿธ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  5. Hey Everyone. So many of you have shared local news articles. Interesting stuff. And here comes a story in my local paper today about a man shooting a squirrel with a bow and arrow, because the squirrel, “gave him a look”. You can’t make this stuff up. And I stop and think…’I often roll my eyes about something, or maybe shoot ((no pun intended) soomeone a dirty look instead of starting a confrontation’. And sadly, I admit, after initially laughing out loud, now I’m just shaking my head. It’s good to come here and share a laugh with one another. It’s good to get out there and celebrate anyone’s excuse for a good time..There’s too much insanity out there today But, rain or shine, from now on, I’m not leaving the house without dark shades on. ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. Hi Mike, Angela, et al, easy puzzle today. I, too, thought after reading cartoon it would be โ€œthorough nessโ€ but counted answer boxes & then asked myself, โ€œHow do you spell THOREAU?โ€ Got it right after all these years.
Here in Phoenix there are Cinco de Mayo celebrations all over the place. Many restaurants have been advertising their special foods all week. Itโ€™s a fun & colorful time as our Hispanic/Mexican friends celebrate their culture & heritage with great food, music, beautiful clothes, dancing, and drinking. You have heard me say several times that our family loves family Sunday lunches together at Top Shelf Mexican Restaurant. Because of a dear Mexican friend who taught me while I was her neighbor, I make delicious enchiladas, tacos, & tostadas. Once I had a church group over for Mex food. I had just put a tray of tostada shells in the oven on broil when a lady who had to leave early came over to give me a lengthy goodbye. When she finally left, I jerked open the door to see every tostada shell on fire. With the preacher sitting quite close, I let out a very loud yell, and I have to admit that I did not yell, โ€œOopsie doopsie.โ€
One late thing. I Googled Packard car hood ornaments last night, and there was one that looked a lot like the one on yesterdayโ€™s vehicle. It was named Goddess of Speed from the 1930โ€™s and is for sale on eBay for $36.22. I threw the price in for fun.
Have a fun day!! See you tomorrow.

    • Hi Lelia. Thank you for your long kind response yesterday. If I can make someone laugh or smile it makes my day — especially Jerry, because then I know I really earned it.

  7. Hi, Lelia. Yes, today was a great puzzle. We do a lot of Cinco decMayo here in NY also. So festive and fun. I so enjoy participating. I’m hoping the rain stops, because right now there’s flooding all over. And with me not driving, I’m hoping someone picks me up. Depending where they are right now, it might not be feasible. And I’m soooo ready for those Margaritas! I bet you’re a great cook, and I’m getting hungry just reading your post. You didn’t say, ” Oopsie Doopsie”? Was it, ” We’re under shell fire”? Perhaps? LOL…I can’t imagine you getting much more graphic than that! And most likely , the preacher’s heard it before! I was looking for the hood ornaments also, and I couldn’t find anything that would match the supposed year in the picture. It was confusing. They were so beautiful tho, don’t you think? There was such elegance and class years ago. I wish we could have a little bit more of that today. Hope you enjoy your day, hope Jerrys feeling well, ๐Ÿ’ƒ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

    • “Under shell fire”.- LOL! At least a 9.0. You should post under sleep deprivation more often – or is that the default condition?

  8. Mike! Thank you for saying such kind & generous words about my writing which will inspire me to get going on my book that my daughter has been begging me to start since January.
Yes, you are a natural and I have never heard you ramble once. When you tell a story, it flows beautifully, is pleasant to read, is too interesting to forget, makes your readers glad that they got to read it, and contains more wonderful details in 2 sentences than I would have in 2 pages.
Of course you may have an autographed copy!! I have wanted to send you and any of our regular commenters who want one a copy of the first one because I have run out of relatives to send them to and have a lot left, but I didnโ€™t know how to do that.
More thanks will be coming to you because you have complimented my writing before which I appreciate whole-heartedly.
Hope your appointment went well. See you tomorrow.

  9. Hi Steve. Thank you for your thank you. I said that to make myself laugh, which as you insinuated, I do easily. I love to laugh! Have no music notes so Iโ€™ll just say, Mary Poppins. My grandson is going to get some emoticons in my computer.
Yesterday after I said I had to come to daughterโ€™s rescue with her laundry, I found myself singing Jim Dandy to the Rescue while I cooked dinner. I was born & raised in Arkansas but didnโ€™t know that song was from an Arkansas group until I Googled it just now.
It seems that my comments today are a day late, so here is another late one. When you told me about Auston Matthews learning ice hockey in Phoenix of all places, one of the hottest spots except for Yuma & Death Valley, I forgot to tell you that Jerry and I met while ice skating in, of all places, Phoenix. I went by myself on a dare, he was there with his dad, mom, brother, sister-in-law, & would probably have had the family dog there if they had one. I loved it that he was such a family person. Anyway, we were married a year later. Want to answer Angela but am starving!

  10. Hi, Angela! First I have a question that you can probably answer for me, a member of the hoi polloi, now that you have had the privilege of dwelling for a week in the upper echelons of the hallowed halls of our beloved site. Question: Are those tiny little words โ€œreplyโ€ that appear under each comment just for Mike to use or may we use them to answer someone who has addressed a comment to us? Before lunch I put my answer to Steve below 2 or 3 other comments because I had not gotten to ask you if I should have clicked that little word โ€œreplyโ€ and put my answer right under his comment to me.
I canโ€™t imagine a New York margarita being as tasty as the ones I used to love at a Phoenix Mex Restaurant named Los Compadres, every Fri night with Jerry before our Mex food, but I hope yours are delish. This guy used a beautiful stemmed glass, dipped the rim of the glass first into lemon/lime juice & then into salt, and put the margarita into a blender before pouring that frothy liquid into the glass. It went down so smoothly that you wanted another, but because I drank it on an empty stomach, I was giggling enough to embarrass Jerry so I quit with one. Jerry had his usual one or two beers, no giggling. Now Jerry cannot drink beer with one of his heart meds and I donโ€™t imbibe because there is a touch of codeine in my cough med. I should have told that last sentence to a member of our group more my age who would have a comment about these golden years. When you have a margarita today, make a toast to me. Thanks.
Hood ornaments. Yes, I agree that they were beautiful & fun to look at, and when I learned to drive, I used them to know how close I was to the curb. First, some teens decided it would be great fun to steal them, the newscasters reported it, and many more teens joined in the fun. Then the manufacturers began attaching them better, somehow or other with chain. Then they just gave up. At first I thought I was going to have to quit driving without my hood ornament but finally got used to it.
Thank you for asking about Jerry. We are both well!! Hooray!
Hope youโ€™re having fun at the fiesta!

    • Lelia, you are too kind. You make me smile…I have a million thoughts..( for a change of pace)? I feel like my mind is always running, and it’s not easy keeping up! So, I’m just going to try and cover all the bases, maybe not in order. First I enjoyed your reference to Jim Dandy. That’s one of the 45’s that I have from my Father. By LaVern Baker, think. Love that song! Next, the margaritas! They were flowing fast and furious. I had to call it a night tho, because I’m still exhausted from the game last night. I didn’t get back home until about 2:15 and found myself posting this for Mike by 7:30. But, did they taste good? Oh yes! LOL. The hood ornaments . I do remember them being stolen. So is that why they stopped using them? I plan to read up on them some more. Your using them as a guide to park made me laugh. I never learned to drive. Well I think I can drive, but I never got a license. Long story….too little time tonight. Now the posts. Do you notice that some have reply boxes and some don’t? Steve and I have questioned this. I don’t know the answer. Maybe Mike does. But as far as using them, they’re for anyone’s use. Mike gets notified in a different way to people’s posts, so feel free to reply away! Funny thing is, sometimes they hit right below the post you’re replying to, and sometimes not. Again, I don’t know why. I think there’s more I need to answer, but the arrows almost on E! And lastly, please don’t ever feel embarrassed with me. I can laugh at myself at the drop of a hat, and I try my best never to judge. I come on too strong at times, and I may appear brash, but it’s all in fun. I find you very endearing and sweet. And I graciously accept your 10! Goodnight, sweet dreams! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  12. Steve, I am embarrassed to tell this to Angela so I will tell you. When she suggested that I could have yelled that we were under shell fire, I did not get it. When you gave her a 9 for her fast, witty answer, it was not until I read your comment twice that I realized that I had reported tostado SHELLS on fire. Tostada shells on fire; we were under shellfire! Duh!!! I give her a 10.

God I’m really burning that candle at both ends…Steve, did you see the squirrel post? It was the talk of the night! How crazy is this guy? And they arrested him…๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

      • Didn’t realize we could see it at the same time. Watched too. Special teams not always so special… Got the Ducks game now. Game 5? We watching the same thing? 2 down? You guys are out for blood! Good luck!

      • Oh Angela, Angela! “Ducks” and “you guys” in the same sentence? If the roles were reversed, I’d have to go all Brooklyn on you! ๐Ÿ™‚ Our rivalries here are all Norcal vs Socal – think Giants and Dodgers. We’re supposed to hate them. (Personally, I think hate is silly when applied to sports teams. I can appreciate anyone performing at the top of their profession.). But it is *extremely” annoying that the Ducks and Kings have won Stanley Cups and the Sharks haven’t — especially since the Kings did it with the coach and GM that the Sharks fired!

This would be like me congratulating you on a Yankees’ win. You’re forgiven, go forth and sin no more! ๐Ÿ™‚
