CARTOON ANSWER:
THE FIRST TRAFFIC LIGHT EVER INSTALLED WAS POPULAR —
FEETHRMOTOGG = FROM THE GET-GO
Happy Thursday morning, my friends! It was all green lights for me while cruising through the clue words this morning. JOGGER would be my pick for the more difficult word of the group, so hopefully it didn’t cause a traffic jam for you. I noticed two of the words had the -ER suffix (FEWER and JOGGER) but it wasn’t enough to cause me any problems so I headed south to the cartoon portion of my daily Jumble commute. I didn’t attempt a blind solve this morning so I jotted down my clue letters and read the sentence and dialogue. From the clue letters, I noticed THE immediately so I crossed it out. GO seemed like a logical choice for the two letter word which led me to see GET. Last but not least was FROM for the finish and now I could enjoy the cartoon. Doing some research on traffic signals, the first electric traffic light was installed on August 5th, 1914 at the corner of East 105th Street and Euclid Avenue in Cleveland, Ohio. I assume that this is the corner we see in Jeff’s cartoon, and the clothing on the men pictured seems to match the period. There is a hood ornament on the car on the left but I couldn’t figure it out what it was. I’m sure someone will know and can fill us in (hopefully)! Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow. 🙂🚦
