  1. Good Morning, Everyone…🧱 RANCH DRESSING? 🧱

    🎶Yeah I’m chillin’ on a DIRT ROAD…🎶…”Dirt Road Anthem” – Jason Aldean 2011 https://tinyurl.com/3z94fzhu

🧱 In the Old West people didn’t WEAKEN, it ODDLY seems to me,

Life wasn’t very easy, but BOTCH didn’t come easily
They did their best to THWART a lot…resilience definitely showed…
Too bad they didn’t have things that came later DOWN THE ROAD…🧱

Yes, Asphalt https://tinyurl.com/3kx2vz35would have definitely PAVED a way for them…

So…Today…The Old West, pre 1900’s.  And we find two gentlemen, one a Sheriff, with a star on his hat, the other a banker, discussing what would eventually become etched in STONE…paved streets. But right now, they’re dealing with dirt ROADS…And let’s face it, Folks…there’s no need to HORSE around with this one…With “eventually”(= later) and “streets”(=ROADS) in our question, and our two characters looking DOWN THE ROAD https://tinyurl.com/4w3scyh7 …we solved this one without any COACHing at all…

Jeff’s💎Gems? The Sheriff’s bolo tie clasp, a steer head, the Sheriff’s office, the Bank, the horse drinking from the trough, the horse drawn wagon…and the poor damsel in distress…

So…TAR you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of my friend, John SMITH, who swears that one day when he was sitting in a cowboy bar in Texas, a man walked in with a three-legged dog. And when everyone turned to stare at it, the man said, “He’s still looking for the man who shot his PAW”…I swear, it’s a DOGGONE shame the stories he tells…I’m convinced he just likes to SPUR us on…But for some reason he does have a ridiculous obsession with the Old West. In fact, he and his wife, Jessie WEST recently had a baby…And he loves telling us what the kid is…A SMITH and WEST SON…And it might have been amusing the first two or three times, but after you’ve HERD it ad nauseam?… Trust me, by now I’m like…”JOHN…WAYNE it in”…🧱🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️They’re well aware that DOWN THE ROAD, should they BOTCH this ODDLY pulled together game, it will terribly WEAKEN their standings…so they’re determined to THWART a loss by any means…🤷🏻‍♂️

👍🏻 They wanted to THWART any problem, so no BOTCH was the battle cry,
They knew they did WEAKEN last season…but they’ve let it go by and by…
And ODDLY they’re not feeling nervous…no one feels there’s a need to goad…
United together determined…to def celebrate DOWN THE ROAD…👍🏻

  3. 🐄🫏 Where horses and cattle were free,

Streets were messy to certain degree…

And add rain to the mix,

They were def in a fix…

But at the time…well what could be?🫏🐄

🤦🏻‍♂️Years went by and the roads just remained,

A messy display when it rained…

And they took it in stride,

    Made for quite bumpy rides…

And I’m sure lots of clothing was stained…🤦🏻‍♂️

🧱 No way they can envision right here,

What the future would offer in years…

    Streets with asphalt…so neat,

    Clean and dry people’s feet…

Yes, a welcoming sight would appear…🧱

🤷🏻‍♂️But for now, they just on bullets bit,

Dealt with the sloppy roads with true grit…

    With puddles of mud,

    ‘Specially if in a flood…

And looked out for every road pit…🤷🏻‍♂️

    🤦🏻‍♂️Yes, we’ve come a long way…that’s for sure,

Today dirt roads we hardly endure…

But back then it was woe,

    Just trying to go…

Into town to the General Store!🤦🏻‍♂️

  5. My thirst has been quenched ! I got all the anagrams ! But the jumble was a little tough ! I did get DOWN, but as simple as THE ROAD was , it just wasn’t hitting me ! But oh well I’ve had a good week and I’m looking to close it off tomorrow and Saturday !

  6. Good morning. Oddly enough I didn’t botch this one even though thwart did weaken my senses and I was thinking of cashing in but I figured Down The Road I’d be annoyed at not seeing it through. To top it all off I even got a blind solve after awhile. Shucks Angela, another first on your song choice and you did get me to chuckle with your ending comments. Can’t deny your the Queen of puns. Until tomorrow take care.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Way to go, Brooklyn! 👏🏻👏🏻! Well done! And thank you…you’re a gem…Take care. 🧱🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Queen of the puns for sure…and today you wove a quite interesting story of the old west. No blind solve but had the words solved (so I thought) but was missing a “W” for DOWN. Went back to correct my AWAKEN to WEAKEN and all was okay. Hope you’re enjoying a cool Thirsty Thursday. Terry

  8. An incredibly easy Jumble Thursday morning with a quick solve of all, even the multi worded cartoon. Chuck.

  9. Another fun Jumble. The anagrams were easy today then the cartoon solution took a few minutes but it came to me. Great puns in your post today Angela. OK John, Wayne it in ! Have a great day ! Stan

    • LOL! 😂 Yeah…WAYNE it in! Tks, Stan. 👍🏻🧱🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. In lieu of a limerick, here is the four liner, written in appreciation of General Wade, 18th century British road builder, whose roads and bridges transformed life for many.

    Helen

“If you had seen these roads
    before they were made,
You would hold up your hands
    and bless General Wade.”. …
