Good Morning, Everyone..I hope this finds you well…
🧶 TRULY PULLING THE WOOL OVER SOMEONE’S EYES!🧶
🎶You can’t hide your LYIN’ EYES…And your smile is a thin DISGUISE..I thought by now you’d realize…..There ain’t no way to hide your lyin’ eyes…🎶 “Lyin’ Eyes” – The Eagles 1975 https://tinyurl.com/da7u3zuw
🧶 A seasoned Con Man needs not FORCE, he’s slick and he stays calm,
He’ll never WEAKEN ‘fore one’s eyes…possessing true aplomb…
His life lived as if on a SLEIGH, he glides through situations,
And there’s a FLEET of Con Men out there…all across the nation…
Our guy here no exception…and if you feel you’re a bettor…
Tread softy should you come across this guy and his FLEECE SWEATER!🧶
Ok..before we begin. Show of hands…For those of you who solve with the letters, who saw the word WEASEL from the 7 letters of the last two words, and thought to yourself..”Aha, I think ICY the first word of the solve”?…SLOPE, not today!
So…IDK…There’s something just too distinctive about this whole set-up. Two middle-aged men, sitting at a fire pit, drinking martinis at a ski lodge? The bald head, the vandyke, the ponytail? And one of them being a Con Man? You have no idea the scenarios that are SNOWBALLING in my head…But without being sure, it might just go all DOWNHILL…And for that reason, I think I may need your ALP…I’m going to start a new feature today…something I’m calling “NAME THAT TOON”. I’m sure it must be pop culture related somehow, but right now I’m SNOW not up to the research…So, if anyone out there recognizes Jeff’s RUN on the carTOON here today, I’d APRES-SKI-ate your letting me know…
But while I may have been on THIN ICE with the setting, the solve was all UPHILL…A Con Man’s always out to FLEECE https://tinyurl.com/44cfek7d someone. And a good warm SWEATER is often times made of FLEECE https://tinyurl.com/2vnutzze So with the Con Man pointing to his SWEATER…with its Olympic logo and image of a skier, sporting the word Skiing…And the dialogue giving us..”Swindle …into free lodging” and “They think”…It’s a real PISTE of cake! The Con Man’s favorite article of clothing? His FLEECE SWEATER!
So..There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle puts me in mind of a guy I know…a writer, but also a Con Man. Yet, I can’t help but like him…He may have a lot of cons…but he also has a lot of prose…🧶🙋🏻♀️

🙇🏻Reaching for his heaviest FLEECE SWEATER, he felt his resolve WEAKEN thinking about how cold it would be out on the SLEIGH…and he had to FORCE himself to get ready to meet up with the FLEET…🙇🏻
🤦🏻♂️The errors in the teen’s report would def WEAKEN her score,
It read a SLEIGH, not slay victim….and there were many more…
The teacher found a FLEET of them, he had to FORCE himself,
To read it all…Did this girl reference books upon the shelf?
The whole report’s a failure…God knows this girl need do better…
The final straw?…Fleas was used describing a FLEECE SWEATER! 🤦🏻♂️
💲Guys like this always swear that they’re slick,
For the most part their cons usually click…
They get over most Folks,
Sadly though it’s no joke…
But for Con Men it’s always the kick..💲
🤷🏻♂️Saying goes that it’s crime never pays,
But for guys like this they find a way…
They cajole and they schmooze,
And the mark? Out to lose…
And the Con? Has another payday…🤷🏻♂️
👍🏻So these two that we see living large,
They were comped, so it’s all without charge…
The Con Man played his hand,
And with luck did he land…
So he’s feeling that he’s quite in charge…👍🏻
⛷ Pulled a fast one by claiming to be,
An Olympic team member who skis…
The lodge fell for the ruse,
And the Con’s quite amused…
Once again getting lodging for free!⛷
🙇🏻 Bottom line, looks like he’s got it made,
Calls a bluff…and he hits them with shade…
But the day may soon come,
When our guy’s on the run…
And the piper will need to be paid! 🙇🏻
Had to end this week with a complicated one that I couldn’t get the connection ! I agreed with Angela’s points and loved the song ! Anagrams were their except WEAKEN , I had to look , I was just to spoiled ! The jumble was hard to connect so I’m gonna rest easy and end the week tomorrow with a good one ! I guess I was just not motivated today , so I’ll text and do Saturday jumble with a positive mind frame ! Everyone have a great Friday !
Just a little too cryptic for me this morning. But actually, should have been a blind solve since I figured the second word was sweater. FLEECE never came to mind, though. With all the anagrams solved and letters in place, would have been a troubling solve had I not taken out the word SWEATER. Thanks for your words of wisdom, Angela. Have a great TGIF.
YW Terry…thank you. Wishing you a great day too. 🧶🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. Another easy day with the words but the cartoon answer was a different story. I couldn’t get passed thinking only of shirt. I finally caved and looked up this simple answer once you know what it is. Maybe electric shock will stimulate this aging brain. No…… I know of two people who are getting it and they fit right in for Halloween walking around like zombies. You have to feel sorry for them especially when you knew them in good health. Loved your song choice Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Tk you. Be well and stay safe out there…🧶🙋🏻♀️
Fleece was an obvious choice for the first word, but I neglected to write down the W from weaken which slowed me down in coming up with sweater for the second word.Getting that straightened out led to a quick cartoon solution. Congrats to the Astros on their win last night, only hope they can complete the deal over the weekend.
Pretty straightforward puzzle this morning. With all those e’s and “con man” in the cartoon fleece came to mind immediately. The dialogue indicating that he wore the item so folks would think he was an Olympic skier was a good clue that he was wearing a sweater. Jeff & David are just too clever. Happy Friday all!
Posting late today. A very busy day with a nerve-wracking early-morning drive through fog, gone now I’m glad to say. Betty, for the past few days with so much morning fog here, I thought I’d been transported to SF!
Angela, I’ll see if I can answer your question.
If there’s something for nothing I can get
I’ll go for it, just you bet
I’m all for a scam
That’s just who I am
And I won’t have a single regret!
Good Morning, Everyone..I hope this finds you well…
