    • Good Morning, Everyone…
🎁 Good Morning, Mr Cortés…HAPPY, HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎁

🎶 But if this ditty is not so pretty, at least it’ll tell you how great you are…. You’re the top! You’re the Coliseum. …You’re the top…You’re the Louvre Museum…🎶…”You’re The Top” – Miss Ethel Merman 1934 https://tinyurl.com/mxmph2td *

🎁 We’re seeing Mr Cortés THRIVE…the years provided well,
He’s so loved by his Family…it’s obvious to tell…
There’s a MEDLEY of Birthday gifts, wrapped beautifully with bows,
      (I’m leaving SOUPY and KNELT out…I don’t see where they’d go)…
His cup might just run over…for it’s def filled to the brim…
And how special to be honored by what’s PRESENTED TO HIM! 🎁

There’s not much for me to add here… it’s obviously a very personal puzzle, so I’m not going to make any jokes. But of course the word “gifts” in our question tied this one up neatly in a BOW…Mr Cortés regaled in what his Family…PRESENTED TO HIM…And in his hand, I’m sure what was his best gift of all…a personal copy of the Jumble puzzle we see today…

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And to Mr Carlos Cortés on this, the celebration of your 90th Birthday, I wish you all the best life has to offer. God bless you, Sir…”Salute…Cent’ Anni” “Cheers! May you live 100 years”! 🍷🙋🏻‍♀️

      * 🎶 I wanted to choose a song for you from the year of your birth….And I think I found the perfect one! How apropos! I hope you enjoy it, Sir…🎶

    • 🌺🪻Despite the SOUPY weather, as he KNELT in his flower bed, a MEDLEY of color, his spirits were buoyed by how well they seemed to THRIVE now, since he began using the new fertilizer that had been PRESENTED TO HIM…🌺🪻

🙏🏻 He KNELT in prayer hoping he’d THRIVE with the new job that he took,
His thoughts right now still SOUPY…but determined hook or crook…
To succeed…and a MEDLEY of luck and nerves combined,
Went through his mind…right now he prays some calmness he can find…
Bit off too much, he wonders…has he gone out on a limb?
He hopes not…and he’s grateful it was PRESENTED TO HIM…🙏🏻

  2. I know it’s late to be posting this but I had to get up and let the dogs out and I had already done the jumble ! And man , this one to end the work week Friday was just not there for me ! I had trouble with two anagrams and one was KNELT an and the other was THRIVE ! I got the other two ! Now the jumble was really a cute one , but I had trouble with all the letters dealing with a 90 yr old’s birthday ! Present just didn’t cone to me , that was too easy ! But oh well , I’ll be ready tomorrow to cap off the week Saturday !! And I listened to your song Angela and Ethel Merman was really good ! Ok let’s get ready tomorrow and I can’t wait to cap the week off with a fun and smooth solve !!!!!

  3. First of all….hope not too many items flew off your shelves during the NYC earthquake?? Everything okay??

Just didn’t get any connection this morning with the Jumble. Mr. Cortes is fairly obscure from where I come from, and a 90th birthday didn’t give clues to the puzzle answer. It was all too easy (PRESENTS) but just had to do the anagrams for the solve. Always like a Cole Porter tune…and you’ll remember how Anything Goes (musical) was making a revival on Broadway (and other venues) about 15 years ago.

    Anyway, Happy Birthday Mr. Cortes……Terry

    • Mr Cortés is pretty obscure to all of us, I’m sure. But neither he nor his age really mattered as far as the solve goes, Terry. You’re right, Presents summed it up…And yes, one can never go wrong with Cole Porter…🎁🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Terry..Sorry, I didn’t see your opening line…Thank you for asking. All I can say is I hope I never experience anything like that again. I was terrified…🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. A real easy one here today. 🎁’s are always presented to a birthday recipient. After yesterday’s rock and roll event let’s hope for no mas. Happy birthday sir, 90 yrs. young. Phew. 🇺🇲

  5. Can someone explain who Carlos Cortés is, please?

    (With apologies to Mr Cortés)

    • Carlos Andres Cortes is an American professional baseball second baseman in the New York Mets organization.

  6. Good morning. It wasn’t that easy for me, I had a little trouble with the two middle words and then it took me some time to come up with the first word on the cartoon. All and all though a happy ending. Loved your pick for the song Angela, ninety and counting. Until tomorrow take care.

  7. Does anyone know which Carlos Cortez the Jumble is referring to and what his connection to the Jumble authors is?

  8. Another person here not familiar with Carlos Cortez though I do wish him a very Happy Birthday. No problems with the anagrams or cartoon answer this morning. Sounds like you East Coasters had an earth shaking day yesterday. I heard there was no serious damage but am sure there are jangled nerves. Have a good Saturday all! Betty 🫨

    • Jangled nerves is putting it mildly…🤦🏻‍♀️ A good Saturday to you too, Betty. 🎁🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Carlos Cortés is professor emeritus of history at UC Riverside, author of a memoir, “Rose Hill: An Intermarriage before Its Time,” His family decided to make a movie to celebrate his 90th birthday.

    • If you read the comments, you’ll see that there’s already been two links posted about Mr Cortés. The movie was his idea…🙋🏻‍♀️
