    • Good Morning, Everyone…🐎 NO SPUR OF THE MOMENT DECISION🐎

🎶 Said we’d be forever..,Said it’d never die…How could you love me and LEAVE ME and not say goodbye?…Although we’ve come to the END OF THE ROAD…🎶 …“End Of The Road” – Boyz II Men 1991 https://tinyurl.com/2ujtvvn7

🐎The rider he’s not ORNERY, despite what’s come about,
The BANNER he rode under…has surely lost its clout…
No more rides over GRASSY plains, it’s come to the FINALE,
An end to the route that went from Missouri out to Cali
No JALOPY’s been invented yet, and no TYCOON is John…
He’ll need a job since now he can NO LONGER CARRY ON! 🐎

It’s a pretty wideSPREAD belief that the Pony Express https://tinyurl.com/3euz67be was around for a LONG time, but NEIGH…it only existed for 18 months…And despite it being a MAJOR way of RUSSELLing up the mail…WADDELL you know…it just couldn’t keep up…And yet, it’s become synonymous with the Old West…I guess it was just another case of “Romanticizing the ROAN”…*

So…Today our puzzle brings us back to October, 1861. And we see John McEnRODE arriving at a Post Office in Sacramento, California…telling the Postmaster, AL BEIT, that it’s for the last time. The telegram that preceded his arrival, also preceded in laying the GROUND WORK for putting an end to his ROUTE-ine…And the need for delivering mail on horseback had RUN ITS COURSE. So, the Pony Express bit the DUST…and all DUE to financial difficulties. Forced into bankruptcy, after being SADDLED with debt with the success of the faster, more convenient telegraph service, it just wasn’t feasible to BUCK the system…and so the letter CARRYing service ceased to be in business any LONGER…it just didn’t make HORSE sense in the LONG RUN…It simply reached the point where it could…NO LONGER CARRY ONhttps://tinyurl.com/54am2zw4 …And we once again RIDE off into the sunset with another one in the BAG…

Jeff’s Gems? Note the telegraph poles and wires in the backGROUND…And one can’t help but take into acCOUNT the number of mailbags being CARRY-ied ON that horse…Once again, Jeff gives us such deTAILed little tidBITS…One can never accuse Jeff of simply MAILing it in…

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminded me of a friend of mine who always seems to come up with these outLANDish stories. Recently he told us that his Great-Great-Great Grandfather was a Pony Express rider…when we all know for a fact that his family still hadn’t come over to the US from Italy back then. I think he just likes to STIRRUP trouble… But my other friend has had it with his tall TAILS…and couldn’t help but tell him…”MAN U R just so full of…%+&@¥[§!!! 🐎🙋🏻‍♀️

      * And just in case… https://tinyurl.com/bd28pk56

    • 🤷🏻‍♀️The TYCOON, owner of the old JALOPY, was a bit of an ORNERY sort, and they finally decided that they could NO LONGER CARRY ON under his BANNER…choosing instead to forgo the car logo, and instead go with a GRASSY meadow for the season’s FINALE…🤷🏻‍♀️

🤦🏻‍♂️ They needed a new BANNER, they thought of the TYCOON,
They loved from the Monopoly game…then someone said…baboon…
It would sit in a JALOPY, it’d have an ORNERY grin,
      But it seems like a FINALE…before they’d even begin…
They can’t decide which way to go…perhaps a GRASSY plain?
Too many odd suggestions….maybe they should just remain
With the old banner for now…’cause enthusiasm’s gone…
      And disagreement’s telling them…NO LONGER CARRY ON!🤦🏻‍♂️

    • 🐎 On horseback they carried the mail,
      Determined they were to prevail…
      With mochila in hand,
      They traversed the land…
These men who were definitely not frail…🐎

➡️ From Missouri they left every day,
On to Sacramento through a way,
      Mapped out to a T,
      Without thought of ennui…
      And kept schedules without delay…⬅️

👍🏻 It was Russell, Majors, and Waddell,
Who found Pony Express and did tell…
      That it definitely would work,
      Planned it out…no knee-jerk…
And for months it did function quite well…👍🏻

🐎 So from East out to West the mail went,
With riders who were def hell-bent…
      To get it all through,
      Was the goal they’d pursue…
And they made sure that they’d represent…🐎

➖🔘 But things changed and in 18 months time,.
The Pony Express? Past its prime..
      The telegraph came,
And it staked out a claim….
As the telegram now made its climb…🔘➖

  2. Good morning Sunday. Mustered a blind solve for today because I figured first two words were NO LONGER…and went from there. Yep, that was a tough way to make a living back in the days. Nice informational posting Angela. Terry

  3. The Pony Express was once highly rated

    Then something new was created

    What was once de rigueur

    Has become just a blur

And in a flash is so outdated!

Now it happens all the time

An invention is in its prime

    It made our life complete

    Now it’s obsolete

    Just gathering dust and grime!

  4. It’s Sunday Funday and I had fun , but fell off my Pony with 15 letters ! I got all the anagrams , except I wasn’t a TYCOON ! And the jumble , with 3 N’s , 3 O’s , and 3 R’s , made up 9 of the 15 letters made me NO LONGER to CARRY ON ! It was an interesting jumble as usual for a Sunday ! I’m ready for a perfect week of jumbles to compliment my birthday on Wednesday ! I’m ready Monday !

  5. Wow a clean sweep of all on a warm sunny 54 degree Illinois morning. I’m usually stumped by the additional Sunday anagrams and letters but not today. Chuck,

  6. Good morning. Another successful completion. I backed into Tycoon. No blind solve but I knew what the two missing letters were which enabled me to get it pretty quick. Enjoyed all Six posts Angela. Like Chuck the first thing I do when I sit down at the table with breakfast and the paper on Sunday is warm up with the jumble for kids. Until tomorrow take care.

    • Unfortunately my Sunday paper doesn’t publish the Kids Jumble anymore, so I am grateful for Angela’s link to that Jumble. Chuck.
