  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 🌒 DO YOU SEA WHAT I SEA? 🌒

🎶 MOON river, wider than a mile, I’m crossing you in style someday…Oh, dream maker, you heartbreaker…Where ever you’re going I’m going your way…🎶 “Moon River” – Audrey Hepburn 1961

🌒 I’m sure they asked their DEITY to bless them as they went
Regardless of one’s SLANT on things, their own religious bent…
Like cat and the CANARY, so satisfied were they
When landing at the chosen spot on that historical day…
On earth here we did QUIVER, joy mixed with humility
As Apollo 11 found the “SEA” OF TRANQUILITY…🌒

Just as we’ve SEAn many a Moon Landing puzzle grace these SPACEs, we’ve also seen all of today’s words LAND here at one time or another…And as far as anagrams go, it’s only TIDEY that’s making a repeat performance….so with nothing new to report…let’s move on to our next PHASE…

Today our puzzle deals not just with the Moon Landing, but with the SEA OF TRANQUILITY in particular. A little PEACE of history some of us may not be all that familiar with. Because while Apollo 11 landed “right where we planned”, as we learn from the conversation between Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin, it’s not all that often that we hear the location itself mentioned per se. But it should be, for the CRATER good…And the greater good of our puzzle today? “It’s so CALM and PEACEFUL here”? Yep, we’ve LANDED on the key…The Astronauts could “SEA” TRANQUILITY! And speaking of good… I’ve come across some articles that are greater than I could have imagined. If you’ve the time, and the interest, sit back and watch this… https://tinyurl.com/y4czecsw . (Scroll down to the link in red, reading “first men on the moon”). It’s long, but trust me, it’s truly OUT OF THIS WORLD..

And as for our cartoon…Jeff’s panel, devoid of color, save for the tiny crescent of earths’s gold seen up top, perfectly captures the essence, the starkness of what our Astronauts got to SEA…

So, there you have it Folks, Done. Be well, stay safe…and may we all find the TRANQUILITY so desperately needed these days…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

    • I’ll just simply say – I can’t thank you enough for that link of the moon landing video with the synced transmissions from the lander and ground control! What an amazing video, that takes you right aboard the lander as it happened, and what a demonstration of the courage and tension demonstrated by the flight crew and the controllers.

      • Steve…You’re very welcome…And I know, right? I knew you’d like it…I swear, I was transfixed. I’d never seen that..Amazing. And I thought the same thing. Courage beyond belief…And tension doesn’t even come close…I actually held my breath just watching. Again…totally amazing. I know it was long, but well worth it, right? 🚀😉

    • The words were not difficult, but the SEA answer was confusing to me and didn’t make sense, as I was born Jan 29, 1970, so it happened before I was born! I clicked on your blue Link to “Sea of Tranquility” to learn they landed there. I don’t know much space history…so thank you for that link.

      • Hi Celia…You’re very welcome. Glad to help. And thank you for commenting. Have a good night, Celia. Be well and stay safe out there…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. Good morning. Had to look up Deity and googled Apollo 11 to come up with the cartoon answer. Other then that it was smooth sailing. Loved your song choice and video Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Glad you enjoyed it…Have a good one. Be well and stay safe out there…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Angela,
You were right, the Jumble in the Austin paper this morning was the one about the Gobi desert from 11/13/2019. I did send them an email yesterday, but maybe they haven’t gotten to it yet.

        • Get out! Yesterday SAND today? Maybe you should call them?..Somebody definitely dropped the ball. But any chance you’d like to make book on tomorrow? 😉 In the meantime…here’s the puzzle from my paper. It’s too good a cartoon to miss…https://tinyurl.com/y5hp3fda 🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. Love your song choice, Angela. The drawing makes me think of From a Distance, which also has great words.
I tried but failed to get the answer last night. This morning I came up with it by trying different letter combinations around QU and thinking (wrongly) that LY would be the ending.
    Wishing all a fun weekend.

    • Good Morning, Caroline. Thank you…The Moon…the River…Not the SEA, but close enough! 😉 And I love your choice also. 🎶From a Distance🎶... “From a distance you look like my friend…Even though we are at war…From a distance I just cannot comprehend what all this fighting’s for…” Beautiful words…and so apropos for what’s going on today. And you know I always enjoy hearing about your creative means to the end! Enjoy the day, Caroline. Be well and stay safe…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. …And in today’s Jumble Trivia…As I mentioned above, we’ve had many a Moon Landing related puzzle…the last being on June 9th, 2019. (And if you’re remembering the Elon Musk puzzle from a few weeks ago on October 17th? Well that puzzle’s SPACE? X…doesn’t really mark the spot on that one)…He’s had his launches…🚀..but nothing’s as MARSvelous as our Moon Landing puzzles…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. With today being Friday the 13th, I found this NASA related fact very interesting…”Apollo 13, taking place in 1970, was the 13th mission launched from pad #39 (13 x 3). The mission was aborted, after an explosion occurred in the fuel cell of their service module. The rocket had left the launching pad at 13:13 CST and the date of the scrub was April 13th”…For the record, I’m not superstitious at all…but I read this and…Hmmm…🌒🤷🏻‍♀️

    • Wow, thanks for posting that, especially on Friday the 13th! I knew some of that trivia but not all of it. One correction, though – it wasn’t launched on April 13th (and I should know, right? 😉), it was April 11.

      • I think I copied/edited it wrong. It was launched on the 11th, but aborted on its 3rd day…which was the 13th…🙋🏻‍♀️

        • That occurred to me just after I posted, and you are indeed correct – unless you want to get into UTC vs Eastern Standard Time – which I most certainly don’t! 😂

          • No harm, no foul…And no, I really don’t want to get into too much of anything EXTRA…Some people can’t stand the heat! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Here are 10 Fun Facts about the Moon!

10 The dark side of the moon is a myth. Both sides get an equal amount of sunlight.
9 We only see one side of the moon from earth because it rotates on its own axis in exactly the same amount of time it takes to orbit our planet.
8 The moon is slowly drifting away from earth at a rate of 3.8 cm every year.
7 You would weigh 16.5% of your body weight on the moon due to it having a weaker gravity than earth.
6 The moon has only been walked on by 12 people. All of them were American men.
5 Since the moon has no atmosphere, no sound can be heard there and the sky always appears black.
4 Lunar Astronauts have used seismographs on the moon and discovered moonquakes have occurred several kilometers beneath the surface.
3 During the height of the cold war, the USA considered detonating a nuclear bomb on the surface of the moon as a show of strength.
2 The moon is approximately 4.6 billion years old.
1 The temperature during the first moon walk was 200 degrees Fahrenheit!

    • Thanks for the Fun Facts! They could have done the classic news broadcast (“How hot is it?”) and fried an egg on the sidewalk – if they’d had a sidewalk!

    • And thanks for including the phrase that always sets my teeth on edge – There’s no “dark side of the moon”; it’s the “far side of the moon” despite what Pink Floyd may think. Now if that had been a Queen album, I’m sure their guitarist and PhD astrophysicist Brian May would have gotten it right! 😂

  7. 🙇🏻‍♂️ He enjoyed reading about the sacred DEITY, and how fiction could bring a CANARY into play, but thinking of the dark side of it, he pictured a different SLANT, a QUIVER of arrows being used as weapons…and it disturbed his sense of a SEA OF TRANQUILITY…🙇🏻‍♂️

⚡️ The Greek God Zeus a DEITY, we read of him in Thor,
The Marvel Comics series, having followers galore…
Depending on your SLANT with it, excitement may deliver,
Some people just don’t take to him…while others they may QUIVER
CANARY? It’s not cutting it…despite my rhythmic ability…
I’m leaving it out of this poem…to keep SEA OF TRANQUILITY…⚡️

  8. Andy Williams had a hit recording with Moon River also. Peppard was great in Breakfast at Tiffany’s. Loved the closing scenes where they found Cat in the back alley in the pouring rain.

    • Hi Chuck. Nice to SEA you here, it’s been a while. Yes, Andy Williams had a huge hit with the song, but …(and maybe I shouldn’t say this?)…but for some reason, I never liked the guy! 🤦🏻‍♀️ And I especially like the way Ms Hepburn sang the song. There’s such an ethereal quality about it…as IMO there was to her. She always impressed me as being so feminine, fragile and “light” so to speak…a beautiful woman….Anyway, here’s the final scene for you to enjoy. It’s a great old movie, one of my favorites, and this closing scene is a classical romantic piece. Thanks for reminding me of it…https://tinyurl.com/cnaaxeu. Have a good one, Chuck. Hope all is well, and stay safe out there…🎬🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Moon River takes me back, nice choice Angela. I remember the landing in the Sea of Tranquility, what an exciting moment and so positive to highlight what man can do. Again solved the puzzle first, think that’s 3 days straight! Words were pretty easy, CANARY being the only one that slowed me down. Nice pun for puzzle solution.
Onward to the weekend, everyone enjoy!

    • Hey Mig…This just in…”Kim Ng became the highest-ranking woman in baseball operations in the Major Leagues when she was hired Friday as GM of the Miami Marlins”! Now how’s that for the year of the Woman? At least something good’s coming out of this dreaded 2020…First Kamala and now Kim! Just had to get that out! …Anyway, the puzzle? An easy one…and yes, a very clever solution. David never ceases to amaze me. And kudos 👏🏻👏🏻 to you for the 3-day record! I’m glad you gave my method a shot….And thanks…I’m glad you enjoyed the song choice. As I told Caroline…the connection was just too hard to resist…Have a good one, Mig. Be well, and stay safe out there…🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. It’s different using your method but quite fun. Glad to see women getting the recognition they deserve…. Jeannie Buss has been running the Lakers for years with great effectiveness. I don’t position such things as sexual or skin color achievements but accomplishments of skilled humans. I wonder how David comes up with the Jumbles day in and day out, plus the plethora of other things he produces…..

    • Yes, it is fun…but you do need a seriously working knowledge of idioms. Buss, yes, but I’m glad to see it finally reaching MLB. And Mig, I very much subscribe to your way of thinking too…but let’s be honest, it’s easier for you to say that you don’t position things as to gender, you’ve never had to…you’re a man! It was always a given…As for David? I’m constantly shaking my head at his accomplishments. I have at least 6 or 7 of his games loaded on my iPad…and I stay challenged…and in awe. Steve and I always speak about it. 🔠🙋🏻‍♀️

  11. Hi all – Got the words, and then I did get the answer from the picture and dialog. I saw that the first word had three letters, looked over at the picture, and “Sea” came to mind, and then realized we were looking at the Sea of Tranquility which was confirmed by the “calm and peaceful” quote.

    Good wishes to everyone.

One minor point about the Sea of Tranquility – I agree that many people probably don’t know or remember where the lander touched down, but there is one reason that more people would know it than you might expect: anyone who sees a video of the event will hear Neil Armstrong radio back “Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed.”

I especially enjoyed your poems today Angela, and I’m looking forward to seeing that ‘men on the moon’ link – sounds good!

    • The link? A MAJOR point…Talk about HEARING…You’re gonna love it. Turn up your speaker…it’s amazing. And thanks, Steve…😘🙋🏻‍♀️

  12. Oh my, that answer was completely lost on me. And in high school my grade on a term paper was marked down because I repeatedly misspelled “deity.” Fifty years later, I did it again. 😂

Ah, well, Friday the 13th. What are you going to do? 🤷‍♀️

    • LOL! I guess some habits just DIEty hard! 😉 Enjoy your day, Agnes…and stay safe out there. 🌒🙋🏻‍♀️

  13. Good morning Angela. Why can’t I get Saturday’s jumble. When I open it I only get yesterday’s jumble. I’ve tried numerous times.

  14. Good morning again Angela. Skip my last message. All I had to do was use the calendar and it popped up. Now when I open it, the correct date appears.
