  1. Good Morning, Everyone..♒️WHEN THE WRITING’S ON THE WALL♒️

    🎶King Tut…🎶…”King Tut” – Mr Steve Martin 1978  https://tinyurl.com/3ykwe5kf

♒️There was no VINYL back then, he’s painting right on stone,
Some images in RADISH-red..some others shades of bone…
I’m getting the impression the vizier’s not so enthralled,
His look is hardly OPAQUE…with his eye cutting and all…
(And GULCH is sitting this one out…it somehow doesn’t mix)…
Today we see “first-hand” the ancient art of…”HIRE-O-GLYPHICS”…♒️

I’m hoping there won’t be any CAIROs of “It’s not PHARaoh” with today’s solve…You really shouldn’t be in deNILE if you just follow the clues…

So…Today: A Pharaoh, https://tinyurl.com/tyrrpjcc his vizier, https://tinyurl.com/3f94txxs  and an artist. And with our question giving us: “commissioned” = HIREd, and “decorate the tomb”, our dialogue giving us: “job” = HIRE and “tell a story” = in this case by SYMBOLS…and the whole thing in quotation marks? WALL, our solve is TUTerly, I mean utterly as clear as day…The result was…”HIRE-O-GLYPHICS” … https://tinyurl.com/4x62k7pv  …And we’ve succeeded in COFFIN this one up in no time!

Jeff’s💎Gems? There looks to be a Scarab Beetle  https://tinyurl.com/2xmk6dth at the front of the Pharaoh’s nemes. https://tinyurl.com/47xvhpdm  And knowing Jeff, I suspect there really is a story amidst all those symbols. But I just can’t WRAP my head around it. I can identify 2 pyramids, the Bat signal, a crow, a Sphinx, a flying saucer, 4 Jumble circles, and the ever popular Sinking Sailboat, under the sun. The other 2 images seem familiar, but I can’t put my finger on them. So If anyone can “tell the story”, please share your findings. Oh, ANKH we can’t OVERLOOK the way the vizier’s cutting his EYES at the Pharaoh…Guess it’s all just a little TOMB much to swallow…

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of an article I read a while ago. Seems that archaeologists had discovered the tomb of a previously unknown Pharaoh. But when they opened it, oddly enough the mummy was completely covered in chocolate and nuts…And the hieroglyphics identified him as…PHARAOH ROCHER…♒️🙋🏻‍♀️

…And another Shout Out🗣️to David. All new anagrams again today 🔠🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🙋🏻‍♀️Sitting on the VINYL chair, munching on a RADISH…all she could say was that his essay on the GULCH was totally OPAQUE in her opinion…and it read as nothing more than HIEROGLYPHICS as far as she was concerned…🙋🏻‍♀️

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️They need some sheets of VINYL to line the new pantry,
    It’s narrow, but deep like a GULCH…and they’ll fill it amply…
He’s opting for a red shade…a RADISH comes to mind,
    She’d rather something not OPAQUE…unsure though what she’ll find…
The two of them never agree…nothing is a quick fix…
The differences that they project? Kin to HIEROGLYPHICS!🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️

  4. I’ll be drinking out of the water well all day to quench my thirst on this one ! First off , two anagrams made me sweat on VINYL and OPAQUE ! I got them , but was unsure , until I saw them and went , whew ! The jumble , I had to look up , and it had me all confused ! So come on Friday and save the week ! Gonna have to accept this one as a no-getter , but I will be ready for Friday ! Always a good song choice , Angela with King Tut and a really good post ! Take care and bring on Friday !!!!

  5. Good morning. Bombed out on this one with having to look up Opaque and then seeing everything in quotation marks, I took the fast track right to the answer. I would still be on it tomorrow if I hadn’t given up. Loved your crazy song choice Angela and all information that I never get in the drawings that you give. Until tomorrow take care.

  6. Quick and easy blind solve this morning, with anagrams to boot. Always liked that Steve Martin bit. Didn’t quite understand the Pharoh Rocher, but must be some kind of candy. Oh well. Thanks for the post, Angela. Enjoy Thirsty Thursday. Terry

    • YW, Terry and Tk you. And yes, it’s a candy. A delicious, decadent candy…I’m surprised you’ve never heard of it. ♒️🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Good morning. Today’s Jumble beat me. I got through the anagrams just fine but then I was stuck. Thought about it for a while, gave up and looked at the answer. Oh well, I still had fun. Nice post today Angela. Your “Pharaoh Rocher made me feel better. Thanks, Stan

    • YW, Stan…and thank you. I may just have to get myself some of that candy today! ♒️🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. just found your site. What a fun way to start my day. So many good chuckles. Thankyou

  9. I guessed vinyl quickly but it didn’t look right, so took a few minutes before I realized it was correct. Came up with “Hier-o-glyphics.”. Saw “hier” is a variant of “hiero” meaning sacred or priestly. So not going to count as a fail, especially since I’m shorter on time than usual. Looking forward to Friday! Have a great day!

    • LOL! But HIRE was key, Mateo. The artist was HIREd…What you’ve come up with is just the actual spelling…there’d be no need for quotation marks…and especially no pun. I think we need to revisit that fail! 😉♒️🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. No problem with the anagrams but didn’t have a clue on the cartoon solution. Too many letters and quotation marks for me.Chuck.

  11. With hieroglyphics I’m really clever

My work can’t be beat, no never

    My pictograms will tell

That your reign went real well

With my work, your name is forever!

    Helen

  12. I had no problem with the words. The answer took a while. I’d think of possible words, but most needed a T. It felt like the Jumble was ‘T’-sing us. I finally found GLYPHICS, and the rest was easy.

  13. ♒️Times were different then…there is no doubt,
No newspapers to be strewn about…
    Hieroglyphics the way,
    In which to convey…
The who and the what carried clout…♒️

🎨 There were artists who specialized here…
In the ancient art Egypt held dear,
    Use of symbols and pics,
    Knowing which did the trick…
    To having a story appear… 🎨

🗣️And the scripts evolved over the years,
Centuries worth of birds, eyes and spears…
    All had meanings that held,
    And together they’d meld…
Into what a said reader would “hear”…🗣️

👍🏻Here today we’ve an artist quite deft,
Etching words on a tomb right and left…
    And the Pharaoh’s enthralled,
    With the job overall…
And there’s nothing to leave him bereft…👍🏻

🔠 So from the ancient art we’ve evolved,
Now there’s letters combining to solve…
    Any words that we need,
    Alphabet we’ve achieved…
    Hieroglyphics? Eventually dissolved…🔠

  14. For me, “opaque” was pretty clear (ha!) but “radish” took some mental digging…my mind kept wanting to go to “shadir” whatever that is. Once I saw “hire” in the results, the final answer was right there. As for a song choice, well, I was hoping either “King Tut” or “Walk Like An Egyptian” by the Bangles, so, thumbs up!
