  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 🚂”ALL…AFFORD”! 🚂

🎶Take the LAST TRAIN to Clarksville and I’ll meet you at the station…🎶 “Last Train to Clarksville”- The Monkees 1966 https://tinyurl.com/5xk65r3v

🚂The AXIOM a given, no chance to be UNSURE,

The cars of the New HAVEN line, were being shown the door…

By VIRTUE of an auction …they’d be sold with little fuss…

    They’ve become quite irrelevant…i.e. “EX-TRAIN-EOUS”…🚂

I’m feeling a little OFF-TRACK this morning, so I’ll make this quick. With “surplus” in both our question and our dialogue, and “replacing” and “don’t need” for reinforcement…we’ve the perfect definition of EXTRANEOUS… https://tinyurl.com/4d6t96nv …But with the presence of the quotation marks, and the glaring fact that while we’re speaking of TRAINS, the word’s been avoided, DIESEL show us for sure that today’s PUNny solve is an easy, breezy SELL…The “Jumble” Boxcars were…”EX-TRAIN-EOUS” …(And there’s also the fact that we’ve had this one TRAVEL by us before)… https://tinyurl.com/vw2j9ay8

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And since I know a lot of you don’t do the weekend Jumbles, this is a good time to remind everyone that with the beginning of next week, Monday, the 18th, the Jumble will once again hold its Annual Guest Jumbler Week. And through and including Saturday the 23rd, we’ll be celebrating year #12 of seeing our puzzles with a completely different spin each day. So buckle up…and here’s to vive la différence 🚂🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️They debated over the words AXIOM, VIRTUE, EXTRANEOUS and HAVEN, UNSURE of any definitions…🤷🏻‍♂️

👍🏻 By VIRTUE of a “safe HAVEN”, an AXIOM quite true,
They have no cause to be UNSURE…content with what to do…
No more need to go over things…nothing left to discuss…
They know just what is needed…and what’s EXTRANEOUS…👍🏻

  3. 🚂Seems it’s come to the end of the line,
For boxcars once considered quite fine…
    They’re put out of use,
    But not labelled refuse…
    Despite their apparent decline…🚂

💲There’s an auction that’s taking place here,
Could be prices might get pretty dear…
    Bidders looking to buy,
    A piece of the pie…
And have something brand new to appear…💲

    🤷🏻‍♂️Roadside diner or maybe bookstore,
    Creativity’s running galore…
    The bidders with thoughts,
    Of what dreams can wrought…
    And they’re hoping that today they’ll score…🤷🏻‍♂️

👍🏻Looking confident we see these men,
    Excited for when they’ll begin…
To see just what they’ll need,
    So that they’ll succeed…
By bidding the right big old Bens…👍🏻

💲So today it’s recycling we see,
    Old boxcar’s second chance…we agree…
    Who knows what they’ll become,
And for how high a sum…
As the auctioneer sells on the “three”…💲

  5. I should’ve known better , that when you talk about railroad and the word Train isn’t mentioned , then you should look for that ! I got Extra Noise , so I’ll be quiet ! I just didn’t think of that one word used that much ! Not a Good Friday , end of work week ! So two days in a row of not ge the solutions ! I need help Saturday ! Angela , your song choice really helped ! Love that song , thank you ! And I can’t wait to see the guest jumbler next week , sounds like fun ! So evyhave a great day going into this weekend !!!!

  6. Not a great TGIF for sure….no blind solve, and then trouble putting all those letters in the right place. My first choice (correct) was EX, but went no further, then tried EXTRA in the middle, and also looked at EOUS for the finish. But in typical fashion, didn’t stay with it long enough and went for the answers. About next week, I find the guest Jumbles kinda difficult (for blind solving), so we’ll see how the week goes. Thanks for your post today, Angela. Terry

  7. Good morning. Carbon copy of yesterday. No need to say more. Until tomorrow take care.

  8. Good Jumble today. I got through the anagrams just fine and then I saw the letters for Train right in front of me and it all fell into place. Looking forward to the Guest Jumblers next week. I hope you get yourself steady on track Angela. I don’t think a guest could do as good of a job writing as you do ! Thanks, Stan

    • Tk you very much, Stan…you’re very kind…But the Guest Jumblers have nothing to do with me here. The Guest Jumblers are 5 cartoonists whose work will be featured instead of David and Jeff’s. 🚂🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Was certain train had to be part of the answer and the other letters fell into place. I can certainly see why the answer would have caused trouble as shown by the poll and a few comments. For the song I thought it might be “Midnight Train to Georgia” by Gladys Knight. Interestingly, a buddy in college heard it, loved it, and it made our road trip playlist amongst 90s rap, rock and grunge. It was the only song we’d really crank and sing along to! Haven’t thought about it in decades so will give it a listen today. Happy Friday!

  10. Is there such a thing as a “double-blind solve”?

I don’t usually do the anagrams without looking at the cartoon puzzle, but today I did and when the “solve” letters emerged, I saw “anxious” which left “tree.” I thought I might see a worried tree in the cartoon, but when I looked, I didn’t, and then found the right solution.

Oh well, so much for the elusive “double-blind solve.”

  11. Guess I was in good company being stumped by the multi lettered hyphenated cartoon jumble! Chuck.

  12. We’ve got surplus equipment to sell

And we’re hoping that sales go real well

If for buyers we don’t lack

Then we can all stay on track

And to these boxcars we’ll just say farewell!

    Helen

  13. I’ve done the jumble for many years and find the cartoon answer too hard and I no longer try 75 % of the time.
    I enjoy it less now.
