It wasn’t due to APATHY that they were on the fence,

The displays, looking SCENIC, were TRICKY to ignore,
But what it would be costing them?…Their budget out the door
The financing just wouldn’t help…despite each one an earner…
And so for now it’s looking like that stove?…ON THE BACK BURNER…🍳

At these prices, they’d rather not HEAT the salesman, Nicholas WAGE’s, advice…Let’s face it, Folks…we know the GRILL…Nick’s like a test PILOT…he works on commission…so it’s to his advantage to try and HEAT THINGS UP…It might sound like a GRATE idea now, but for FRYING out loud, POT things into perspective…Those interest fees? They’ll BURN you…So, it’s important SOUFFLÉ your cards right…or you’ll end up getting a RAW deal…
So…Today we find ourselves at “Ollie’s Appliances”, and we MEAT our couple, Ted BURNER, and his wife, Drew NARYMORE, feeling the HEAT…In the market for a new stove, they’re getting sticker shock from the RANGE of prices that they’re seeing…And they realize that they’ll be COOKED if they BURN through their savings. In fact, the price of the stove they’re looking at, has actually COST Ted to GASp…So, with their budget at STEAK, they’ve no choice but to POT buying one…ON THE BACK BURNER… https://tinyurl.com/upjbawz4 …And it was easy enough to COOK UP our solve today…With “After seeing” and “put buying” = LATER in our question, not to mention the word, “stove” = BURNER, plus our dialogue attesting to the fact that right now the prices would BURN a hole in their pockets, “hold off” = BACK BURNER, there was no PRESSURE GASsing this easy, breezy one…

He called a repairman, but the guy gave him a bit of a runaround, saying he might be able to fix it, but he wasn’t sure…that it did involve a lot of GASwork…GASwork? You’re a repairman and you’re GASsing?…So with my friend’s BOILING point being tested, he told the guy to just forget it…And instead he went on a microwave soup kick…you know, being a RAMEN Catholic and all…🍳🙋🏻♀️

🧮 At first he had a sense of APATHY regarding the ABACUS, most likely because he found it TRICKY, and had left it ON THE BACK BURNER…but on this day, before the sun began to SCORCH, and the weather was BENIGN, he settled into a SCENIC area of the park and gave it another shot…🧮
🧮 The old man, Gus, was quite BENIGN, no APATHY was shown,
He’d mastered the ABACUS many years before he’d grown…
The young man felt a tiny SCORCH, he found it way too TRICKY,
But Gus, who was raised country, said, “Don’t fret, I’ll help you, Ricky”….
‘Twas quite the SCENIC picture, hearing Gus say, “I can learn ‘ya…”

I had a successful start on the puzzle yesterday. I get my Sunday Weekend version of the paper on Saturday in the US mail, so was able to solve the anagrams and the cartoon, which was a switch for me given the additional anagrams and multi lettered and multi worded cartoon. Chuck,

Good morning. I had to use my thinking cap on three of the words but I finally got them all. Now the cartoon answer was pretty easy once I got all the letters down but the blind solve eluded me. I got a blind solve today, then started unjumbling the words. BENIGN gave me a problem, so I put it ON THE BACK BURNER. I solved the other words, went back to BENIGN and solved it too.

Just got back from a wonderful marriage yesterday of our nephews , 4 hrs south of us and it was beautiful ! I just opened the jumble and got all the anagrams ! The jumble was right there !
