  1. Good Morning, Everyone… 🎥 STEALING THE SCENE 🎥

    🎶Theme Song 🎶- Lyn Murray – and Title Sequence from the movie…”To Catch a Thief” 1955 https://tinyurl.com/4dranpzb

🎥There were times the critics offered a HARSH word, maybe two,
But pairing Grant with Kelly…could ASSURE a rave review…
The TEMPO of the film, said some, just didn’t win the race,
Compared to Hitchcock’s others…the suspense not up to pace…
(And WALNUT’s sitting out this one…it’s way in the last row)
Today it’s ’bout the backdrops that we see can STEAL THE SHOW…🎥

Today, we start our weekend off in 1955…and we find ourselves viewing the French Riviera…  https://tinyurl.com/35nejp9s …The movie, Alfred Hitchcock’s https://tinyurl.com/jjk5ttz7 “To Catch a Thief”. https://tinyurl.com/3tu7evzd a JEWEL of cinematography. The stars: the exceptionally debonair Cary Grant  https://tinyurl.com/32378wdw as John “The Cat” Robie, a retired jewel thief, and the elegantly beautiful Grace Kellly https://tinyurl.com/2p8k926w as Frances Stevens, a wealthy tourist…And Robert Burk’s https://tinyurl.com/4r3fkrnp Academy Award winning cinematographic allure of Cannes, Monaco, and Nice?… Definitely box-office gold…You know what they say…”Location, location, location”….

…And just as the film garnered some mixed reviews, I imagine so will this puzzle. But as any movie aficionado will tell you, when it came to Hitchcock, he thrived on keeping us guessing. As does David…Only today, with the movie = SHOW title in our question, giving us “Thief”= STEAL, and the breathtaking scenery being SHOWn, not to mention the dialogue SHOWing how focused and taken the moviegoers are with it all…there was no SUSPENSE as far as our solve went today…At times…The French Riviera would STEAL THE SHOW… https://tinyurl.com/3vpekcd5 …And, “Yeah…that’s the TICKET”!…

Jeff’s💎Gems? Aside from the fact that he’s expertly captured the beautiful countryside, I see two Sailboats off in the water…but as far as I CANNES tell, neither one is sinking. And we CANNES see that it’s Grace Kelly driving the rare blue 1953 Sunbeam Alpine Mk I…https://tinyurl.com/4nmz2na7 …And if you look REEL closely, you can see her right hand on the stick shift…SHOWs that Jeff followed the SCRIPT…

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And I think it apropos to end with a quote from Alfred Hitchcock himself…”Puns are the highest form of Literature” …READ into it what you will…🎥🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤦🏻‍♂️They tried to ASSURE one another that their new song, “WALNUT” would STEAL THE SHOW, but whispers of the TEMPO coming across as too HARSH were being heard…🤦🏻‍♂️

🪑He was hoping that the TEMPO of the day would not bring grief,
But it started getting HARSH real quick..he needed some relief…
The staining of the WALNUT chair just wasn’t going well,
Although they did ASSURE him that it would, with a hard sell
He’s definitely wasted hours…and he feels resentment grow…
There’s no way now that this piece has a chance to STEAL THE SHOW…🪑

  4. 🤷🏻‍♀️You’re sitting in a theatre so enrapt,
And it’s not the plot alone that has you trapped…
    The scenery amazes,
    And captures people’s gazes…
And some are finding they can’t stay unflapped…🤷🏻‍♀️

🎥 “To Catch a Thief” the movie on the screen,
With parts of France to some so far unseen…
    Breathtaking to be true,
    As the countryside they view…
With waters blue and landscapes lush with green…🎥

❤️The Riviera definitely stole the show,
And Robert Burks was surely in the know…
    With backdrops off the charts,
    He captured people’s hearts…
As we see by the gals in the front row…❤️

🤦🏻‍♀️For Hitchcock this was not always the norm,
Since beauty not his usual movie form…
With him it was all thrills,
    He loved to evoke chills…
‘Twas nothing ‘bout the man cuddly and warm…🤦🏻‍♀️

🎥 But here today we see it’s more than plot,
And cinematography is what they got…
    The decades have gone by,
    Yet still people will sigh…
At beauty that was not shot on a lot…🎥

  5. Nice way to cap the week , Saturday, with all the anagrams and an Alfred Hitchcock movie for the jumble that right there ! All of his movies were good and the theme song presented them well ! Great Saturday jumble , so let’s get ready for another great week of jumbles !

    • this is Jim above , I must’ve not hit the wrong button to announce my post !

  6. Yes…the gloriously stunning French Riviera showcases Grant/Kelly in this Hitchcock thriller, and I, too, was so enamored about that little sports car. What a scene for eating that chicken lunch up there on the cliff. But back to the puzzle…STEAL just didn’t come to mind, so unscrambled anagrams to find the answer…and even that was a little hit and miss, but I finally solved it. It will be interesting to hear how your readership comments about this 50’s oldie. Glad you’re rested up, Angela. Terry

  7. Good morning. Enjoyed this one today. Quickly handled on both ends but not a blind solve. It was there to get but I missed it. The movie had great acting and great scenery. Until tomorrow take care.

  8. Whew a nice Saturday solve. Loved that movie, one of my favorites. Chuck.

  9. This ole lady GOT words only did not see the ans so I gave up have a nice w/o end EL

    • Wishing you a nice weekend too, Miss Eleanor.🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Easy solve and great movie. The scenery was stunning and a clever Hitchcock plot as always. Happy Saturday all! Betty

  11. When the landscape becomes part of the scene

And even takes over the screen

    Like another character emerging

And at that point, no diverging

Now nothing can come in between …….

The image that sticks in your mind

And the plot, are now intertwined

When you think of the title

    All components are vital

    It’s a indelible impression combined!

A special interest of mine, how plot, characters and landscape/background are combined by the best-known authors to create an indelible impression. I’m sure all you jumblers can think of examples.
