🎶 A little UNPREDICTABLE, I confess…That if one thing’s the same…It’s that I’m SUBJECT TO CHANGE, yeah…🎶 “Subject to Change” – Kelsea Ballerini 2022 https://tinyurl.com/2pr5mfu3
📕In English class, a HYPHEN, when and where it is of use…
Science…maybe a SIPHON…in Math perhaps a deuce…
He stands in for a COHORT, the JARGON he knows well,
The man covers the bases…no matter where he dwells…
He’s not EXEMPT from anything…he’ll pitch in here and there,
His BUCKET list…to teach it all, he’ll sit in any chair
As he’s telling the little girl…he’s apt to rearrange…
His schedule for any day….it’s all SUBJECT TO CHANGE!📕
FUNNY how one becomes a creature of habit. I’ve gotten so used to David’s “teacher” puzzles circling around Mr Dietz,https://tinyurl.com/yc4uj65p that my mind automatically went to him…But then I saw the WRITING on the wall…well on the board to be exact. “Mr B”…And I realized that I was way out in left field…And besides…Jeff doesn’t play Mr Dietz as COMIC relief…
So…Today we’re not in Kansas, we’re not in Sleepy Hollow, NY…we’re in small town USA, on Crabgrass Drive. And while the location isn’t germane to our puzzle, it doesn’t LESSON the importance…The details always help me to understand the SUBJECT matter that I’m writing about…Nothing REPLACES authenticity…So, if you follow the comic strip “Crabgrass”, https://tinyurl.com/4w8semn2 Jeff’s witty, creative spin on David’s idea may ring a bell. This past March, the comic did a story arc about Mr B, a substitute teacher playing a “Freaky Friday” https://tinyurl.com/bdfxt8k2 prank on Kevin and Miles, the two young boys seen speaking here who are the main characters of the strip. That explains the “prank” reference…
Our solve? With our question giving us the word “substitute” and loaded with the mention of SUBJECTS, along with the dialogue of the little girl, “art last week, music the week before” ADDED to Mr B’s “wherever I’m needed” = CHANGE, this puzzle was well TAUGHT, I mean thought out…Whatever Mr B was teaching would be…SUBJECT TO CHANGE… https://tinyurl.com/yf6x95uf …And it’s another solve for the HISTORY books!
So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of my friend Doug, who was hired to be a substitute Grammar teacher. Feeling a little on edge, he said that on his first day he wanted to break the ice by telling a joke. So I gave him a suggestion…but told him to WRITE IT on the board. Nerves getting the best of him, he forgot what I said about the board, and instead just asked the class, “How do you comfort a Grammar teacher”? …”By saying… They’re, their, there”…Needless to say no one got it…Just goes to show…you can’t TEACH old DOUGS new SHTICKS…📕🙋🏻♀️
…And Kudos to David…All new Anagrams…and with six 6-letter words…no easy task! 👏🏻👏🏻!
Loading...
🤷🏻♂️Always SUBJECT TO CHANGE, one of his BUCKET list items was to learn the new JARGON…since it annoyed him that a COHORT, Mrs Smith-Brown (don’t forget the HYPHEN in her name, she’s adamant about it being written as such🤦🏻♂️) had told him that at his age he was EXEMPT from needing to keep up…but he was determined to SIPHON out as much new knowledge as possible…🤷🏻♂️
🤦🏻♂️The SIPHON now was broken, they had a BUCKET near, They thought today they’d be EXEMPT from work…but now it’s clear… The doggone thing is causing grief…(does doggone need a HYPHEN)? Whatever, it’s irrelevant…the problem here the siphon… The JARGON not the issue…it’s what to rearrange? He and his COHORT not happy…their plans? SUBJECT TO CHANGE! 🤦🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️Teaching itself…puts one to the test, Any teacher would surely attest… Kids not always in check, So the teachers “on deck”? …They worry more than all the rest…🤷🏻♂️
🤦🏻♂️Sometimes children can push envelopes, And they def can dash a teacher’s hopes… And a substitute knows, Easy come, easy goes… And they need to avoid slippery slopes…🤦🏻♂️
📕Today we’re seeing Mr B, Who can teach it all from A to Z… Be it History or Math, He cuts a wide path… As his young students can all agree…📕
🤦🏻♂️But somehow pranks come into play, When a permanent teacher’s away… And the subs pay the price, It’s like rolling the dice… Just hoping they keep things at bay…🤦🏻♂️
👍🏻Here’s to teachers who give it their all, And the subs who are always on call… They deserve all our praise… Along with a raise… For keeping their eye on the ball! 👍🏻
This was one of the few Sundays that I got most of the anagrams and the jumble without cheating ! However, the anagrams were tough all but three of them ! Two of them I rarely use in a conversation and one was just not my JARGON ! The other two I’ll have to SIPHON them and COHORT , but the jumble and the other three anagrams were right there for me ! Never heard your song choice Angela , but it was really good and her voice was really nice ! This one was a very challenging Sunday ! So everyone have a great Sunday Funday !!!!!

Twas a challenging Sunday Funday. There was no blind solve in the mix, so unscrambled all the anagrams, except COHORT, which I had to look up. After that, had no really good word ideas, so started moving letters around, trying to find where that pesky “J” might be found. That’s when I came upon “JECT”, and it was the key to SUBJECT…and the solution. Enjoy your Sunday, Angela, et. al…..and catch you Monday morning. Terry
Prof…I sent you the first letter of the first word…Do you want additional help? 🙋🏻♀️

I solved the anagrams and had all the letters for the cartoon solution, and guessed “subject to chance” but only had 2 C’s and an extra G. Then realized the third word was change, thus freeing up a. C for the first word, subject. Whew finally solved it! Wishing you all a blessed Sunday! Chuck.

No limerick today – Angela has covered everything but just want to state that the very common practice of having students refer to “Mr. B, Ms F. Mrs R etc.” does them absolutely no favour whatsoever, Indeed it deprives them of the opportunity to decode/sound out words (phonics!), an essential part of the reading process. This is especially true of very long surnames or names that sound different, i.e., “foreign” It is also a mark of respect to make the effort to learn how to say someone’s name.
As an occasional teacher of French, I insist that students say may name and not default to Madame D. My surname has only three syllables and is not difficult to say. Just my little beef for the day! As my sons used to tell me – Mom has a bee in her bonnet…..and it stings her all the time!

Cohort was the tough one for me today. Solved the puzzle then went back knowing ‘C’ and ‘T’ were the letters.

I too had to back into cohort after solving the cartoon answer. Today is Donald Duck’s 🦆90th Birthday. Happy Birthday DD. 🎂. Betty

Donald duck is 90 ? Hope he has some cake and quackers ! He went to Willie Nelson’s 91st last month !
