      So…Today…Filming in the middle of the Mojave Desert. http://tinyurl.com/y2m286yn , where Death Valley is the LOWest point of elevation in North America. A movie’s being made titled, “Plan 10 From Outer Space”….And according to the clapperboard 🎬 http://tinyurl.com/rh7ffvd9 (also known as a “dumb slate”, which truly reSUNates here), in the loader’s hand, they’re shooting the 13th take of scene 3…of this movie about aliens…13th!!! The HUMANity! Talk about an unlucky number! But I digress…The real issue here is not only is it bad enough filming in such intense heat…this crew is working SANDS pay! = BUDGET. Why? Who knows…Maybe they’re all desperate? Maybe they’re gluttons for punishment? Maybe they’re all afraid to BUCK the system? Again, who knows…But we hear our actors, Robert NO-DE NIRO, standing before his spaceship, holding the alien head to his web-footed costume, and Reese WITHER-SWOON, holding her laser gun, lamenting the fact that they’re working on-the-cuff! I guess they’re not exactly a HOT commodity in the film industry…But still, working under these conditions is apPALLing…The cameraman’s using an out-dated hand-held camcorder… http://tinyurl.com/wcwehcna and down to his last unraveled cassette, and the boom operator http://tinyurl.com/ykf8nnn7 is using a boom pole whose microphone is held on with cord…So…filming at the LOWest point with the least amount of money?…LOW BUDGET… http://tinyurl.com/4jrxfbdb it is…And you gotta love how David used Death Valley as the LOWcation! A brilliant TAKE! He could have SET this up anywhere…but he definitely ELEVATED it with his choice. I hope it’s fully appreciated for its cleverness…

      And as always, Jeff’s managed to bring to STRIFE David’s HOT idea regarding filming being the PITS…The sun ablaze in the sky, the beads of sweat on everyone’s face, and especially those hairy armPITS! I just love Jeff’s SCENTS of humor!

    • 🍷After having saved for months, with nothing LOW BUDGET about the Kentucky DERBY, they were a little disappointed over the CLOUDY weather, but still enjoyed themselves…and raised a GOBLET of SWEET nectar to the racing gods…🍷

      In the market for a GOBLET set…today the perfect op…
      They saw some etched with DERBY scenes, and as they tried to judge it…

  3. I just wasn’t with it, this morning and didn’t connect Death Valley with LOW. Therefore, busted on today’s puzzle. All I could accomplish were the anagrams, but that’s about it. Being stumped on a Monday is not my favorite way to start the puzzle week. Now to go back and look at the cartoon again…and ID those hairy pits and famous actors. Thanks for posting, Angela. Terry

  5. Good morning. Happy Presidents Day. Too cold to play Bocce with snow still on the court and the center closed for Presidents Day, looks like another day for cleaning. Two days in a row with a blind solve. Maybe I’m finally getting the hang of it. Really don’t think so but I’ll enjoy this victory. As soon as I saw your song choice Angela I laughed when I saw the title. You nailed it. Until tomorrow take care.

    • The Wikipedia article mentions the 1924 classic silent film ‘Greed’ filmed in Death Valley. Director Erich von Stroheim insisted on authenticity. He filmed there in August!

      Several episodes of the original ‘Twilight Zone’ series were filmed there, the first one was ‘The Lonely’ from 1959.

  6. Great start of a new week Monday ! All of the anagrams were fun and entertaining ! The jumble , being a movie in Death Valley was very low to the earth , so it didn’t cost much on a LOW BUDGET ! And Angela , your description of Death Valley , was very interesting , and all the characters , were also ! Yes David as usual and Jeff too were great ! Very nice Monday jumble !   8. I quickly got the words. For the answer, I focused on heat, as the crew were all sweaty. After a while I went to plan B and looked for three letter words. I found LOW, and solved it.

    I’ve been to Death Valley NP multiple times, but only in the winter or early spring. The rest of the year is too hot.

    It started raining here last night in Southern California, and is predicted to rain continuously until Wednesday. A slow but steady rain. It’s likely raining in Death Valley, too.

  9. When I saw Death Valley in the cartoon clue, I figured the first word must be “hot” but after looking at the anagrams and not finding an “h” saw “low” and was able to fine the answer. Rainy day here in the Bay Area. Happy Monday all!
