    • Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
🔜 STRAIGHTEN UP AND FLY “WRIGHT”! 🔙

🎶 Ain’t no use in DIVIN’..What’s the use of jivin’?…STRAIGHTEN UP and FLY right…Cool down, Papa, don’t you blow your top…🎶 “Straighten Up And Fly Right” – Mr Nat King Cole 1943 http://tinyurl.com/3cz5hndv

🔜 With winds that could be WICKED, they never called it quits,
A WINNER was the goal for them and so with their own mitts…
Despite a CALLUS here and there, they would ABSORB the pain,
Gave no OUTLET for failure…determined they to gain…
(And KITTEN just won’t work today…there’s no place it will fit)…
But gotta love when Orville said…“I WOULDN’T BANK ON IT”! 🔙

…Before we begin…two little quirks that I find amusing and love picking UP on…1- Another compound word…making it three in a row now…and since they don’t seem to DOUBLE anyone’s pleasure…let’s hope you find an OUTLET for your frustration…And 2- The use of the word KITTEN, where we’re dealing with Kitty Hawk…I definitely had to PAWS and chuckle at that one…

So…The Wright Brothers… http://tinyurl.com/3pncs2wk …a sight for SOAR eyes when it comes to the Jumble. Over the years they’ve LEFT us with quite the number of UPLIFTING solves…But today’s has taken it in a whole new DIRECTION…We have an amazingly clever pun! And I hope you were able to GLIDE WRIGHT through it!…Either that ORVILLE you be LEFT out in the cold? …And I fear that WILBUR a disappointment…Well, here’s hoping you got it OFF THE GROUND!

Ok…When it comes to today’s solve: “I WOULDN’T BANK ON IT”…we have ourselves a wonderful double meaning….But to really appreciate David’s genius here, one must know what BANK means…AS FAR AS flying goes…no pun intended! The word itself has so many definitions in the English language, but here today, we’re going for …1- “Don’t BANK on it”…it’s not happening, http://tinyurl.com/3fp8k24p and 2- BANKING a plane as in TURNING… http://tinyurl.com/24ufvkwk …So, either WAY you look at it…it’s brilliant! And as far as Orville’s response to Wilbur? WRIGHT ON!

So..There you have it Folks…Done! Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And I remember reading about an incident at Kitty Hawk where the Wright Brothers were arrested for trespassing, and the Judge refusing them bail…. I guess he considered them a FLIGHT risk…🔜🔙🙋🏻‍♀️

      • 🐈 While sitting on the couch hoping the salve would help ABSORB the pain caused by the WICKED CALLUS on his foot…(but thinking to himself, “I WOULDN’T BANK ON IT”…)he noticed his award WINNER of a KITTEN scratching too close to the wall OUTLET…🐈

🙇🏻‍♂️Hard work had caused a CALLUS to form on both his hands,
The left one quite a WINNER…part of the jobs demands…
So much to still ABSORB he knew, he felt like a small KITTEN,
Learning from all the bigger cats…but he was definitely smitten…
The learning process WICKED, yes…with no OUTLET right now,
But he was still determined to work the farm and plow…
So naturally he felt the sting, when despite all his grit,
The foreman cruelly said to him…”I WOULDN’T BANK ON IT”…🙇🏻‍♂️

        • 💪🏻 The Wright Brothers determined to fly,
Not the types to let sleeping dogs lie…
          So they worked over years,
          Proving to all their peers…
That they’d not settle for a black eye…💪🏻

🚲✈️Starting out they were in the bike game,
But their destiny would be of fame…
They longed to see a flight,
          Worked four years…day and night…
          And finally had an airplane…✈️🚲

🤷🏻‍♂️When they did get their plane in the air,
We hear Wilbur, one half of the pair…
          Asking about the bank,
          Orville says…”To be frank…
We’re just not yet ready to go there”…🤷🏻‍♂️

✈️ Kitty Hawk would now be on the map,
Success attained from the bits of scrap…
          Went from glider to plane,
          And would always remain…
With that longed for feather in their cap…✈️

🍷So the Jumble once more gives them praise,
For their grit and their determined ways…
They proved that they were WRIGHT,
And that man could take flight…
So our glasses to them we all raise! 🍷

  2. Too many mistakes lately like leaving out words and apostrophes. Very frustrating! Never use to be like this.

    • We here have nothing to do with the printing and/or publishing of the puzzle. We just do commentary. If whatever you’re working from is missing words and/or apostrophes, it’s not our doing, nor the doings of the puzzle creators. You’ll need to voice your displeasure with your local paper. Here’s what’s printed in mine, the NY Daily News. http://tinyurl.com/yjvryj3z 🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. A great solve for a very cold Sunday morning in Canandaigua, NY.

Now off to church! God Bless!

    • Nice place, Canandaiga. I have some family in Auburn.

it’s very cold too, here in S. Ontario with a little snow.

      • I’ll give you a hint…Think cold, of course, and study the Snowman…what’s he about to do? I’m sure you’ll get it…but don’t give it away, in case others are trying too…☃️🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. I almost got a blind solve…but it was not to be, even though as a pilot…should have glommed onto the word BANK. Anyway, breezed through the anagrams, played around with the OULDN’T word, and then found the solve. Wow, right there in front of my eyes !!! And didn’t see it. Wonderful old Nat King Cole song to whistle all through the morning. Thanks for the extra tidbits, Angela..and have a great morning. Terry

  5. it’s Sunday Funday ! But mine wasn’t fun ! I got through the anagrams , but had to put on my thinking cap and raised an eyebrow to CALLUS and ABSORB ! And I agree with Terry that you put a great deal of tidbits in your post Angela , but I couldn’t relate the word BANK with turning an airplane ! After I looked it up I was educated ! I would have to say that might have helped ! So bring on a new week Monday and I’ll be ready ! You can bank on that ! Just trying to turn it around !!!!!

  6. A tough but successful jumble day. First off my Sunday paper was to be delivered by US mail yesterday, but despite getting the mail through the cold and snow, there was no paper. Then this morning after accessing the Jumble online, there was the usual Sunday problem with the additional anagrams and letters. I miscopied outlet as cutlet, and was lacking the ‘o’ for the 2 letter word ‘on’ in the cartoon solution. But after correcting that copying error, the cartoon solution was a done deal. By the way upon awakening the patio temp was -14 and has now risen to -12,yikes! Chuck.

    • It’s definitely cold all over, Professor…and looking to get worse. And if you were able to master this puzzle…Kudos by the way, 👏🏻👏🏻…I’m sure you’ll be able to solve the Kid’s one…Just follow the clues…🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. For an airplane to turn around

    (Assuming it’s off the ground!)

Well, it can take quite a while

    Over the last few miles

    As it gently descends, airport-bound!

  8. Good morning. The words were simple, I was able to go straight down the line without having to skip and come back. The cartoon answer was very clever but I failed to hitch a ride and sail to its conclusion. Now your song choice Angela was tops. Hard to believe that it’s 80 years old. He’s so enjoyable to listen to. Until tomorrow take care.

    • Good Morning, Paul. Tk you. And I agree..Mr Cole had an amazing voice. Take care and stay warm! 🔜🔙🙋🏻‍♀️

  9. Clever puzzle this morning. Not a blind solve but did get the cartoon answer. Great song choice as always, Miss Angela. Happy Sunday all! Betty
