CARTOON ANSWER:

TURNING THEIR PROPERTY AROUND THE CREEK INTO A CAMPGROUND CREATED A – – –

RAE EME TREN VSU = REVENUE STREAM

Happy Thursday everyone! All of today’s clue words were familiar old friends. Two of the scrambles were new, but we’ve definitely bumped into ZAREC and MEHET before. At first I thought CRAZE would return as being a new clue word, but the archives told a different story. It turns out it’s been used at least nine times in the past, with 3/2/17 being the most recent and 10/25/63 the oldest. VISUAL took a few extra blinks to come into view so it’ll be my pick for today’s hardest anagram. After finishing them off, I noticed the clue words were listed in alphabetical order making it the 11th time it’s happened this year.

Today’s cartoon transports us to the “Pine Tree State” where we encounter a couple discussing plans to develop their property. In the background was a sign that read OTYOKWA CREEK, and a quick Google search showed that the creek is located in the town of Bremen, ME. The happy couple were drawn with exacting detail which leads me to believe they’re most likely friends with David or Jeff. The male half was wearing an orange shirt and black pants while his partner sported green shorts and an aquamarine tank top with a WILCO hummingbird logo on the front. The inflatable tube in her left hand seemed like an odd item to be carrying since they weren’t wearing bathing suits. The fact that the words FISHING, TUBING and CREEK were mentioned in the dialogue meant it was most likely a visual clue and the final answer would have something to do with water.

The layout for the final solve consisted of seven consonants and six vowels for a total of 13-letters. The R at the front had me thinking RIVER, but then I noticed METR in the middle and settled on STREAM. With those letters crossed out, REVENUE was easily pieced together to finish off our last puzzle for September. On to tomorrow! Until then, be well and enjoy the day. //Mike

🎸When Rock n’ Roll first made the scene, most parents hit the roof,
They thought of it just TRENDY…A success? They’d need the proof…
They felt the THEME and lyrics of the songs nothing to praise,
And it would simply disappear…a nonsensical CRAZE
But others had a VISUAL sense, with confidence to deem…
That Rock n’ Roll would def give birth to a REVENUE STREAM! 🎸

  8. Another easy Jumble day and my final work day or the week. Half a blind solve when I saw Stream. Would have bet money that Angela’s song would be “Islands in the Stream” and I would’ve lost. Back on Sunday for more fun. Until then, be well.

    • Good Morning, OO. Yes, another easy one..But the song? There’s no Island!..😉🤷🏻‍♀️

  9. Too tricky for me this morning!!! Anagrams solved speedily and then put puzzle answer together quickly….but did need the letters. Have a great day.

  10. Anagrams were a quick solve, but the multitude of letters, especially the “E’s” gave reason to pause on the cartoon solution, but the creek led to streme, followed by the complete answer, revenue streme.

  11. When the solve REVENUE STREAM appeared back on March 24th, 2013, the question then was…”When he started charging people to fish in his creek, it created a”…

What’s the DEAL with all this Money, money, money?…Prices PIKE-ing up everywhere…People FLOUNDERing just to pay bills…COD help us all if this continues…I REELy think it’s aTROUT time we HOOK up with some fishing holes that are totally free…You know just for the HALIBUT…🐠🤷🏻‍♀️

  12. Speaking if fishing or camping,I’ve never done either, maybe I’ve missed out.I always said I preferred golfing to fishing.

  13. Someone just told me that the link to “Down By The Old Mill Stream” wasn’t working. It was missing a letter..I fixed it.. Sorry about that…🤦🏻‍♀️

  14. No problem with the anagrams but the cartoon answer left me adrift. Kept thinking of “venture” for the first word but nothing worked with that for the second word and even though I kept studying the dialogue and cartoon clue just couldn’t figure it out. At any rate, I still wish all of you a good day.
