  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…

    🏖CONSPICUOUS CON-SUN-PTION?🏖

🎶 Living life is fun and we’ve just begun to get our share of this world’s delights….(High) high hopes we have for the future…And our goal’s in sight…We are FAMILY…🎶 “We Are Family” – Sister Sledge 1979 https://tinyurl.com/bdkt66h2

🏖 As rich as Croesus” it was said…the SIMILE did fit,
The family had so much wealth…it just seemed not to quit…
Their Beachfront home so opulent…the HUSKY whispers said,
“They own a CRAYON company…and to riches it led”
And it wasn’t a FABLE, for the sight was quite a visual…
To see them altogether at their large FAMILY “RICH-UAL”🏖

So, where do you think we are today? Kennebunkport? Martha’s Vineyard? Atlantic City? Cape May? SHORE is hard to tell…

Today’s words bring us nothing new, but the anagrams all seem to be…And it was only CRAYON that had 3 of the Early Birds seeing red…As for the solve? Two of them were definitely treading water for a while…SURFice to say one was almost ready to CASH in his chips…

So, the Aristocrats and their vacation Beachfront Estate. Rich…And the discussion about dining plans is what set the table for me. With the dialogue telling us that it’s a “tradition”, and they do it every year, and “dining on the beach” is the “usual” …it’s easy to see that it’s a regular FAMILY reunion…it’s their RITUAL. But considering their wealth? And the fact that those quotation marks are awaiting us? It’s a “RICH-UAL”. And how BEACHy keen is that?

As for our cartoon…Loving the period clothing. The little boy in his bowler style hat looks like he can’t wait to get at that lemonade. And our little girl, building a sand castle at the shoreline couldn’t look happier. But I’m a little at sea about a few things. Is the man with the lemonade refreshments a butler…or the Family Patriarch? And if he is Mr Payola, where’s he going to put that tray? I mean as the butler, he can just walk back to the house with it. But then again, as either one, how’s this guy going to pour while holding it? Somehow I get the impression that neither of these women do any heavy lifting…And the guy in the background, emerging from the portable cabana? Is he part of the Family? I hope so…then he can pour…I don’t know…But before I get all tide down, I think I’ll just call it a bay…

So, There you have it Folks, Done…Have a good one. Be well, stay safe and I wish you all a fine and sandy day…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🖍 The FABLE that was passed down through the years was that as a child, the youngest daughter had used a CRAYON to draw their HUSKY St. Bernard, and wrote…”He has a SIMILE,” when she meant smile…and it became a FAMILY RITUAL to tell the story every Christmas…🖍

🙇🏻‍♂️ Growing up they called him HUSKY, a true sign of the times,
    Today it’s like a FABLE…body shaming’s kin to crimes…
Sometimes he wished that he could melt…just like a CRAYON might,
Just hearing…”You’re strong as an ox”…A SIMILE of blight
When forced to go clothes shopping…resentment was habitual…
He hated every moment of that FAMILY RITUAL…🙇🏻‍♂️

  3. 🍁🍂 “I’m so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers”…(from Anne of Green Gables) HAPPY OCTOBER! With its crisp air, its trees of glorious rusts and golds…and its pathway to the Holidays to come…🍂🍁 🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. When I was much younger I was a ‘HUSKY’ size. In fact when I was in Little League they announced me as “Fatty OConnell” as I came up to the plate……… Fun.
Anagrams reasonable, puzzle solution took longer for the words in quotes. Got it anyway.
    Sleep well, folks!

    • Thank God that wouldn’t be tolerated today. No child should be treated that way. Have a good night, Mig. Pleasant dreams…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. On last night’s re-run episode of the TV show “Young Sheldon”, Peg, Pastor Jeff’s secretary is shown doing the Jumble in her paper. Speaking aloud, she questions whether or not Nipto is a word.…and then says, “Oh, it’s Pinto”. And I had to laugh, because all true Jumble players know that Pinto could never be used as a puzzle word…😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Good morning. I chose Simile and the cartoon answer for hardest words as I gave up on both. Looking at the answer to the cartoon, it really wasn’t that hard to figure out. Love you song pick Angela. Until tomorrow stay well and stay.

    • My thoughts exactly ! You “hit the nail on the head”it was like”trying to find a needle in a haystack “, there’s my SIMILE ! I got my CRAYON and wrote it down . Yes the jumble was difficult , have a great start to the weekend !

      • Good Morning, Jim. It looks like Simile’s not bringing any Smiles this morning! But there’s always tomorrow…Hope your day goes well…and stay safe out there…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

    • Good Morning, Paul. Simile’s hardly an everyday word…hardly an every month word, for that matter! And I’m glad you enjoyed the song…Enjoy this beautiful weather we’re so lucky to be having…and stay safe out there…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. CRAYON may have an anagram. When rain falls, we say it’s rainy, so when acorns fall, why not say it’s ACORNY? So far this year hasn’t been ACORNY, but there have been some years when there were more acorns than leaves to rake, and they don’t rake well. In those years, the squirrels had a feast.

    • I’ll take the leaves and the acorns any day…but those squirrels? 🐿 Uh, no! Have a good one, Jim. Be well and stay safe…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  8. Ah! Our life is simply grand
As we stroll along the strand
    No worries or care
We take in the fresh air
    And frolic in the sand!

    • Hi Helen…My head’s buried in the sand this morning…I’m still WADING for the caffeine to kick in! Have a good one…Be well and stay safe out there! 🙋🏻‍♀️

🏖When’s there’s money enough to be spent,
      On a beach house that’s this opulent…
You for sure have it made,
      You’re rated top grade…
And you’re definitely living content! 🏖

🏖We’re seeing this group on the beach,
Live a life that for most…? Out of reach…
And they dine on the sand,
Yes, life can be quite grand…
When there’s nothing you need to beseech! 🏖

💰This group that we’re seeing today,
Don’t live life in the usual way…
      This home that’s their second?
      Not mainstream I reckon…
It makes quite a lavish display! 💰

      💰The lifestyle this family keeps,
Calls for pockets that truly run deep…
      Aristocracy shows,
      It pays off, I suppose…
‘Cause there’s nothing they do on the cheap! 💰

      🏖Beachfront property we can agree,
Offers life where one lives leisurely…
      It’s got elan and dash,
Long as you got the cash…
Money tends to ward off the ennui! 🏖

  9. This fairly cryptic puzzle continues a line of poor jumble solves for the week. Yes, I am officially in a slump !!! It started with CRAYON, which took a few minutes. Saw FAMILY as the first puzzle word, but didn’t follow up….and for a bit of Non Compos Mentis, didn’t see the RICH. As far as Angela’s song goes, I’ve never even heard of the group. Hope I’m not traded back to the Minors !!! At least it’s raining outside…always a good thing !!! Enjoy Friday.

    • Non compos mentos? C’mon…it’s just a little slump! 😉 I’m sure you’ll bounce back tomorrow…Good Morning, Terry…don’t be so hard on yourself…And be assured, you’re still a Major Leaguer in my book! But you’ve never heard of Sister Sledge? Now that’s hard to believe! Have a good one, Terry…Be well and stay safe…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Misspelling fable didn’t help as I was lacking the L for the 3 letter cartoon word.Happy October to one and all.

    • …And Happy October 🍁🍂to you too, Professor. Have a good one! 🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  11. Crayon required lots of jumbling on paper and the answer took me a long time too. A closer look at the drawing made me realize the aristocrats were a family. Wishing all a fun weekend.

    • Hi Caroline. Except for the presence of the kids, today the real pathway to the solve, especially FAMILY, was all in the cartoon’s dialogue, so you were wise to study it. The use of the word “our” twice, “we” and “tradition” were key clues. Kudos 👏🏻👏🏻to your closer look! Wishing you a wonderful day, Caroline. Be well and stay safe…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

  12. Crayon was the hardest word, but I found it. For the answer, I saw FAMILY right away. It was hard to find four letter words, so I tried endings. I first tried ‘ial’, and was left with ruch. A simple switch of the u and I gave RICH-UAL. Nice.

In my county in S. Calif, every sigle city had an all-time record low amount of rain for the last year! For my city, we had a little over 3 inches for the entire year (Oct 1 to Sept 30). No rain in the forecasts, and it is warm and dry today.

    • Hi Dennis. I agree, the RICH-UAL was very clever indeed…As far as the rain goes, I wish I could share some of ours. Ida alone dropped near 8” here on Staten Island, and if I’m not mistaken, NYC has gone over the 45” mark so far this year. I hope things improve for you all. Have a good one, Dennis. Be well and stay safe…🏖🙋🏻‍♀️

        • Yes. Our average here is about 46-48” a year. This year so far we got clobbered a time or two. And it’s funny you brought it up, because I was reading this story this morning from my local news station. Mother Nature can definitely be a cruel mistress…🤷🏻‍♀️

  13. If I remember correctly, We Are Family was like an adopted theme song for the ’79 Pirates as they played their way to the world series, which they eventually won, after coming back from a three to one deficit.

    • Hi Chuck…You’re right! Great memory! 👏🏻👏🏻! It definitely inspired them…and the whole city for that matter. That was definitely a nail biting Series…And if you didn’t already love Willie Stargell before then, you definitely did when it was all over. Hope all is well with you and yours, Chuck…And as always…it’s a pleasure to see you here. Take care, and stay safe…⚾️🙋🏻‍♀️ https://tinyurl.com/4cuevs78

  14. I’m soooo behind schedule today, but it’s not too late to remind Everyone that today is NATIONAL HOME MADE COOKIE DAY! Cookies!!!! 🍪 👏🏻👏🏻! One of the major Food Groups! So if you haven’t done so already, bake yourself something good to eat…Spice up your day! Satisfy that Sweet Tooth!…Savor the goodness!!…And if you’re not one to bake…go get yourself some cookies anyway…Your secret’s safe with me…’Cause It’d be a sin to let a day like this go to WAIST!!! 🍪🍪 ONJYE!! 🙋🏻‍♀️
