Happy Tuesday everyone! I thought today’s cartoon was absolutely adorable. And with Memorial Day being the unofficial beginning of summer, there’ll be plenty of good weather ahead for these two lovebirds to enjoy one another’s company. My favorite part was the “Oh!” Nada exclaimed when Zero was whispering in her ear. She used the word to express emotion, but less commonly it can also refer to the letter “O” which is what some folks call zeros. Clever indeed!
There weren’t any new clue words to report this morning. All of the anagrams just happened to be though. They all solved instantly except for THEME which required an extra second or two to get the E’s in order. It was just one of those days where everything solved pretty much instantly.
All appears to be going well for Zero and Nada. The bench that they’re sitting on makes me think the setting for today’s panel is a park. Judging by the way they’re drawn, I’d say they’re probably in their late 20’s or early 30’s. The fact that we don’t see much of anything other than trees in the background leads me to believe they’ve found a quiet and secluded spot in which to rest and exchange some honeyed words. Most of the detail work that I noticed came via their facial features. Zero had a prominent chin while Nada had bow-shaped lips and very feminine eyelashes.
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 13-letters. Four of them were vowels and nine were consonants. The solve of SWEET NOTHINGS was insant for me after noticing the word “whispered” in the sentence. Google says the earliest known written example of the term “sweet nothings” can be traced to a poem in a London magazine called Belgravia back in 1776. The poem, written by Mary Elizabeth Braddon, included a stanza that read “As low he bend o’er her he loves so dear, to whisper some sweet nothing in her ear.” Have a tantalizing Tuesday everyone, and just keep BIGMUNJL!
Hi Mike. I know this might sound odd after discussing romance with Paul, but I took Zero’s deeply furrowed, askew eyebrows as a sign of insincerity. He looks a little sinister to me. So I’m not so sure he’s being totally honest with Nada…And those sweet nothings may be just that…nothings! I think he’s got aNADA woman in his life! 🤷🏻♀️
Only one man knows for sure! 👋🏻

Sweet Nothing feels like a song to me. The puzzle was solved first. I enjoy when I can do tothat…………….
Memorial was a fine weekend. It’s nice to see some people still support our troops.
I’m happy to hear you had a great Memorial Day weekend, Mig! It rained all weekend long here, but we did manage to squeeze in some grill time when it started clearing up late Monday afternoon. Be well and have a great week! 🙂
Pretty quiet but nice. Starting to warm up… Glad you had a good time, Mike!
But I think this might be a better fit for both their personalities…

Good morning. The six letters words were done seconds faster than the five letter ones. The cartoon answer wasn’t an instant solve because I had to put down the letters but once I did the answer popped into my head. A brilliant answer I might add. You picked two good songs Angela. I’m partial to Brenda Lee, for such a small girl she had a powerful voice. One of my favorite singers. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Brilliant indeed…And thank you. Have a good one…Wishing you stay well and safe too…0️⃣🙋🏻♀️
Paul…I have to tell you…Going strictly by the dialogue, this is the one my Other chose…and he’s been singing it all morning…And I have a feeling you’ll really like this one…It’s definitely NOTHING to sneeze at! 😉 The Flamingos 1959 https://tinyurl.com/dnsndetn Enjoy! 🙋🏻♀️
Thank you and you are so correct. It brought tears to my eyes. Brought me back to slow dancing with my sweetheart (wife) It was a romantic time. Take care.
You’re very welcome, Paul. I had a feeling it would. I know what a sweet, sentimental romantic you are at heart. But I didn’t mean to get you teary-eyed, I apologize for that. Romance and memories…both wonderful things…You take care too, Brooklyn…❤️🙋🏻♀️
Like others, I’m sure, puzzle solved prior to anagrams…and without much cogitating. It’s one of those “Go to the front of your class” days, puzzle solved without even knowing how many letters involved. Anagrams easy as well….Soooo, a great day for June to be bustin’ out all over. Everyone enjoy the day, another soggy one in Austin (for a change)
Terry…Good Morning. Your phrasing…”Go to the front of your class” brought this to mind. It was one of the things we found stashed away in my Uncle’s belongings after he passed away. I’m pretty sure I took it, and it must be up in my attic somewhere…https://tinyurl.com/3zzac7wu And I like your “June is busting’ out all over”! Wishing you enjoy your day too! 🙋🏻♀️
Looks like such a fun game for 1955….I was up and about for that time frame..10 years old. Think sister and I playing Canasta with aunts and grandparents instead. Just leave it to Milton Bradley to have that game in the stores, with many others (like Monopoly). Thanks for sending !!!
Terry…You’re welcome. I don’t remember the game, but your phrase rang a bell. And I do remember hearing it before. And opening a bunch of boxes that he had stored away, this one, with those little heads on the stands cracked us all up. Sort of broke up the uneasy tension that we were all feeling going through his things. It looks like a cute game, though. Innocent…like the times were back then I suppose. 🙋🏻♀️

Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…0️⃣ 🙋🏻♀️
🎂 After he SWUNG and missed with his first business venture, this time around he was determined to succeed…so looking for a STRONG THEME, he opened a fat-free bakery called…“SWEET NOTHINGS…Worth your WEIGHT in Gold” 🎂
⚾️ It’s THEME Night at the ballpark, and Casey’s up at bat,
STRONG as an ox he’s always been…to the bank you’ll take that…
He puts his WEIGHT into his swing, but this time he gets stung,
The pitcher throws a fast one…and too late has Casey SWUNG
He stands there all deflated, like a Turkey less the stuffings…
There’s nothing sweet about today…’cause Casey’s got SWEET NOTHINGS! ⚾️
Anagrams were a snap on this Tuesday, like a Monday, start of the work week.A quick blind solve of the cartoon followed,a great start to June, the beginning of summer!Skillings, the veteran Chicago TV weather man, calls June 1 to Sept 1 summer!Rather than the meteorological real start and end of summer.
I always enjoy the Jumbles that have numbers in them and today was no exception. It was an easy solve on all counts today. Thanks for all the information on the origin of “Sweet Nothing’s”, Mike. I often learn something new from my Jujkble adventures. Have a good day all.
On all counts!!! 😂😂😂👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
My pleasure Betty. And I was sorry to hear that your Presidio was quiet again this year. I believe you said last year was a virtual remembrance and that many staff members of the park had lost their jobs due to the virus. I pray they all made out ok and that you get to have a proper remembrance come Memorial Day ‘22.
Enjoy your week! 🙂
Hi all – Well, the answer was an instant solve, but it took me a couple of jumbles each to see THEME and STRONG.
Good wishes to everyone.
I also remember the board game, Angela, but that was one my family never bought and I’ve never played it.
“The band’s main THEME song really SWUNG with the WEIGHT of a STRONG rhythm section pushing the beat.”
Nice sentence…especially with all music flying around this morning! 🎶..The game? Maybe I’ll dig it out. Maybe…I really don’t feel like venturing into the attic though…and I’m not even positive that I’m the one who took it. But I am a little curios now. I have no idea if it’s entirely intact either…but as I said, I do remember those little heads! 😉And I wonder if the Little Ones would like it. They could make good use of those “thinking caps” …😉 Have a good one, Steve…🙋🏻♀️
Steve…Curios! 😂😂No pun intended…but a bit of a Freudian slip perhaps! 😂 Blame it on the Auto-correct…You know I was going for curious. 🤷🏻♀️
