Giid Morning, Everyone!        🏍 DAREDEVIL EXTRAORDINAIRE  🏍

🎶 The Ballad of Evel Kneivel🎶  – John Culliton Mahoney 1974
I couldn’t find the lyrics for this on line….
https://tinyurl.com/y2evowhp

🏍 The man was known for wild stunts, done with IMPALA speed,
Spectators loved the VISUAL image, and lined up to see his deeds…
His BOUNTY grew from SHRIMP-like stats to ones of great success,
Was he UNSURE or MODEST it was anybody’s guess.
I’m thinking tho the “K” sound, is it always more or less…?
Or did he pronounce it like that to RAMP UP HIS BUSINESS? 🏍

With no new words, yet all new anagrams, SHRIMP comes in as our oldest entry going back to 2014, and also as our newest, having last been seen just this past January 2nd, where it appeared as MHISPR. And except for a very slight tic at VISUAL, we DROVE right through our words on the way to today’s cartoon…

Today’s cartoon brings us back to the mid 1960’s, where we see the famous hair-raising stuntman, EVEL KNIEVEL https://tinyurl.com/yxamoxn2 Known for using a RAMP to catapult himself into the air and jump over objects, rumors started abounding about Evel jumping the Grand Canyon…but the rumors were spread by non other than Evel himself. He was definitely a HYPEractive guy! A very colorful character, we see him here, dressed in his signature white clothing, excited about his burgeoning BUSINESS, and his Manager is definitely going along for the RIDE. Determined to be a big success, Evel was able to…RAMP UP HIS BUSINESS…Good one, David! WHEELIE good one!

Ok…Eye candy…The entire panel is shaded beige. We see five gray cars in the background, to the left of Evel’s ramp. The Manager, is dressed in period bell-bottomed jeans with a white shirt and a black vest that has the initials “EK” embroidered at upper right. The same “EK” logo is shown on the large gold belt buckle Evel’s wearing and it can also be seen on his gold pinkie ring. Great detail, Jeff. His name and the Number “1” are engraved on his Motorcycle, as well as on the helmet he’s holding in his left hand, while his right bejeweled hand holds a walking stick. But the eye candy this morning? With both men wearing open V-necked shirts, Jeff’s drawn each of them with CHEST HAIR peeking through their collars…Now how’s that for a little HAIR Raising! So, There you have it, Folks…Done! Have a great day, Everyone!…Today’s National Chocolate Covered Raisin Day! Now thst makes me JUMP for joy! 🏍🙋🏻

  1. PLEASE NOTE: THE EMAIL WENT OUT WITH THE 3RD WORD: “UNSURE” INCORRECTLY LISTED AS ENSURE. IT’S SINCE BEEN CORRECTED ABOVE. 🙋🏻

    • Good Morning, Chuck! Brilliant! I love it…especially the little comedic turn! 👏🏻👏🏻 Major Kudos! I’ve been swamped all morning, and I’m still trying to catch my breath, so I just dabbled with it…but I couldn’t seem to incorporate the answer…I’m still thinking though…Here’s what I was able to put together…Hope you have a great day! 🏍🙋🏻

° He was very content with his MODEST SHRIMP business, and each day’s BOUNTY brought him security…he was only UNSURE of whether or not his patrons enjoyed the VISUAL effects he provided in the decor…the pictures of the IMPALA he had caught….

    • Chuck…I forgot the poem! 🙋🏻

° He hunted for IMPALA, he used to fish for SHRIMP,
But once that he got married…his life took on a crimp.
UNSURE if he’d stay married, he looked at his BOUNTY,
And figured out how much he’d lose staying in this county…
He’d have to give her half of it, MODEST would his means be ,
He hoped she wouldn’t get the house…he’d def be up a tree.
He sat alone…the VISUAL of how much worse it’d get…
And thought maybe he just should stay and live with less regret…

    • Ok, Chuck….I worked it in. It’s a hell of a stretch, but it’s the best I could come up with…🙄🙋🏻

° In an effort to RAMP UP HIS BUSINESS, after losing the BOUNTY that his parents had provided, the MODEST and somewhat UNSURE SHRIMP importer, wished he had the VISUAL acuity of an owl, and the speed of an IMPALA, since he couldn’t see above water, and drowning in a sea of debt, he needed to quickly devise a financial solution…

  2. Hi all – This one took awhile. Three words gave me trouble; UNSURE, BOUNTY and IMPALA. I’d say the latter two were about equally hard for me. Once I tried IM at the beginning I saw IMPALE which led to the right word.
The answer was especially challenging at first because today it was the East Bay Times turn to mess up the picture, and they cut off all the answer circles! Went online, saw that “Rise to the occasion” would fit. Figured “UP HIS” was in the middle. Tried STEP UP HIS and BUMP UP HIS before seeing BUSINESS in the letters and realizing I’d missed the RAMP in the cartoon as a clue.

“He thought the flaming SHRIMP he painted on his IMPALA would earn him a MODEST BOUNTY at the hotrod show, but the judges were UNSURE of their VISUAL appeal”.

    Have a great Sunday, everyone!

  3. Hi Everyone –
I couldn’t get the answer this morning but “fresh eyes” worked when I returned home. I looked closely at the picture, trying to notice new clues, and saw the RAMP. Like Steve, I thought UP HIS would likely be the middle words.

  4. Just got home and to my newspaper.Impala looked like impale to me at first, but then I am not a Chevy ‘Impala’ kind of guy.I was able to back into impala after working out the letters I needed for the ” ramp up his business” final solution.
