  1. Happy Tuesday everyone! Contrary to popular belief, pigs are very clean animals. Since they’re unable to sweat, they wallow in mud to cool down which often often gives them a mucky appearance and earns them the reputation of being unclean. The North American Pet Pig Association (NAPPA) recommends bathing your pig only when necessary as over washing can dry out their skin. If a good scrubbing is necessary, they say floating cheerios on top of the water will keep them entertained and make bath time a whole lot easier!

All of today’s clue words were past favorites from the archives. All of the anagrams returned as being new, but none of them stumped me. The poll indicates that OVNYE is the one causing the most trouble today so I’ll go ahead and make it my pick for today’s hardest anagram.

Cute cartoon of a momma pig washing her daughter in the bathtub. I sure hope there’s a non slip surface at the bottom of the tub or those wet hooves could mean trouble when it’s time to get out! Junior seems to be in the wrong place at the wrong time if he was hoping to escape a bath. The mud caked on his cheeks and belly were excellent visual clues that helped make this one a blind solve.

The layout for the final answer was an anagram consisting of seven letters. Since HOGWASH was my guess, I didn’t bother writing out the letters and checked my work from the circled letters in the puzzle. This particular answer was used one other time back on 12/05/83. The cartoon showed two pigs scrubbing their laundry on washboards and the sentence read: WHAT DO YOU CALL IT WHEN PIGS DO THEIR LAUNDRY? The scrambles in that one were fairly obvious, with UNGOAT being the only one to take a few extra seconds to solve. On to tomorrow! Until then, be well and enjoy the day.

    • …And Nougat has rarely been seen…You may have given David a suggestion! 🌰🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. The history of the word HOGWASH is pretty interesting. Google says it dates back to the middle ages and involved cooking. Cooks would collect leftover scraps from meals and meal preparation in a bucket and add “runoff” from a brewery. The resulting mixture was known as swill or wash and the cooks poured it into the yard for hogs and pigs to eat. By the 1600’s HOGWASH was used informally to mean an alcoholic beverage that didn’t have a strong enough alcohol content for the drinker. It wasn’t until the 1800’s that HOGWASH came to mean “nonsense.”

  4. Manageable Tuesday J. Hogwash was really obvious from the cartoon dialog. Anagrams were quick. We have left Sunday behind…..

    • My guess is that the guys scrambled the order of the puzzles this week because this one felt like it should have been played on a Monday.

Excellent end result last night! Should make for an interesting one this evening. Take care.

  5. Good Morning, Everyone… 🐷 IN A PIG’S LIE? 🐷

🎶 Let me know that I’ve DONE WRONG…When I’ve known this all along I’ll keep you my DIRTY LITTLE SECRET…Don’t tell anyone or you’ll be just another regret…(Hope that you can keep it)…My DIRTY LITTLE SECRET…Who has to know?…🎶 “Dirty Little Secret” – The All-American Rejects 2005 https://tinyurl.com/3rz3urbx

🐷 He played down at the HOLLOW, came home at early night,
His pants they showed a SLASH and his clothes looked no longer BRIGHT…
He’s standing ‘fore his Mother, and reciting an ENVOY, *
But does he really think that she can’t see right through this boy?
There’s no way that he’s bathed…and while there his sister sloshed…
Both she and their slick Mother knew his words were all HOGWASH! 🐷

  6. 🤷🏻‍♂️ He wasn’t too BRIGHT if he thought they couldn’t see through his all too often HOGWASH-SLASH-lies-slash-HOLLOW promises, and as a result they removed him from his ENVOY position…🤷🏻‍♂️

💁🏻‍♂️ He liked being an ENVOY, he worked real hard day and night,
The job was satisfying…and they saw that he was BRIGHT…
There were no HOLLOW promises, they kept their word to him,
That there would be no budget SLASH, and no where would they skim…
He liked the office given him…so comfortable and posh…
And he in turn assured them that he’d cut through the HOGWASH…💁🏻‍♂️

  7. Good morning. No blind solve on this easy Tuesday jumble but a breeze on both ends. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  8. An enjoyable Tuesday puzzle…..kinda cryptic, I must say. Breezed thru the anagrams to find the easy puzzle solve. But have to admit, would have never come up with that word without the letters. Enjoy pre-hump day.

  9. Blind solve on the puzzle. When I saw Slash, I thought of the guitarist by that name and wondered if Angela would bring up a Guns n Roses song. The Envoy, although none too Bright, was able to Slash through the Hollow reasoning of his counterpart’s Hogwash. Going to be a bit warm but otherwise fine day on the Great Plains.

    • Hi OO. I never choose a song based on any of the days given words, just the puzzle’s theme and the solve. And I’m with you, definitely an immediate solve this morning. Have a good one, OO…and stay safe out there. 🐷🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. The piglet forgot to erase
Dirt on his cheeks and all over the place
So with sis in the bath
    Plus his dear mother’s wrath
It was extremely hard to save face!

    • Hi Helen…

🐷 There won’t be a case to be makin’,
Cause this little pig, the future bacon…
      He just can’t deny,
      He’s not washed…so why lie?
And Mom’s not that easily taken! 🐷

🐷There will be no pig in a poke,
‘Cause this boy he’ll definitely soak…
He’s in need of a bath
      Or face his Mom’s wrath…
Little pig’s not so slick of a bloke! 🐷

  11. Definitely a Monday easy Jumble on a Tuesday w no problem w any of the anagrams and an obvious blind solve of the cartoon puzzle. The hog in the tub reminded me of the long bygone days when my bother and I were given baths in the bathtub when we were kids!
