Happy Monday fellow Jumblers! What a creative solution to start the week. With any luck we’re just seeing the tip of the iceberg! There weren’t any new clue words to tell you about, but we did have three new anagrams. TUSEG is the only one we’ve definitely encountered before. The most recent use was on 01/13/15, but I found examples of it dating back all the way to 1965. NGLEET took a few extra seconds to unscramble so it’ll be my pick for today’s hardest anagram.
Fun cartoon of some greenhorns receiving instruction on how to properly pick lettuce. The harvesters looked fairly young, so I’m guessing they’re probably in their late teens or early twenties. Lettuce can be grown year round in the U.S., with California growing 71% of our supply and Arizona producing the remaining 29%. By my count there were a total of 151 heads in the field ready to be picked, and the two in her hands brought the head count to 153. My favorite type of lettuce happens to be romaine, but my preparation method is a bit unorthodox. I cut it in half, brush the cut side with olive oil, salt and pepper, and then put it on my grill for a minute or two. The sweetness of the leaves coupled with the char taste of the grill marks is an unbeatable combo!
The final solve was an anagram consisting of 13-letters. It also just happens to be the longest anagram on a Monday so far this year. LETTUCE was no trouble to spot in the scramble after seeing all the different varieties listed in the cartoon sentence. With those letters crossed out, HEAD and OF were easily plucked from the remainder to seal the deal. On to tomorrow! Until then, be well and enjoy the day!

Anagrams quick, puzzle solution fast but I was not thrilled with the solution.
See you all tomorrow now that the Dodgers swept the Mets and picked up a game on SF. Gonna be a tough sled to season’s end methinks.
Good to see Mike back
Happy Monday Mig! We had great weather this weekend so we hosted a family bbq on Sunday. It was my first time playing cornhole and it turns out I’m actually quite good at it! Wishing you a great start to your week. 🙂
Good Morning, Everyone! 🥬 LETTUCE ENTERTAIN YOU 🥬
🎶 They gather ’round the table, send it up to the Father…Somehow they get closer when times get harder…Here’s to the FARMER…🎶 “Here’s to the Farmer” – Luke Bryan 2016 https://tinyurl.com/2cjrpk83
🥬 The Supervisor, she keeps notes in her CHROMEbook with great care,
To make sure that no FRAUD takes place, if a GUEST there should appear…
She’s GENTLE with her crops, and they just seem to cry…”Come get us…
Youll be hard pressed to ever find a finer HEAD OF LETTUCE”! 🥬
👨🏻🍳 After the third HEAD OF LETTUCE went missing from the CHROME tray, it was obvious that one GUEST chef at the B&B was something of a FRAUD, and there was no chance of handling it in a GENTLE manner …👨🏻🍳
🥬 “Be our GUEST, be our guest*, come into our summer dome,
We’ve vegetables to share with you…on platters gold and CHROME…
Be our guest, be our guest…just please use a GENTLE touch,
We don’t like any kind of FRAUD…for us that’s way too much…
Be our guest, be our guest…yes, you’ll see we have a fetish…
And you’re welcome to just grab yourself a fresh grown HEAD OF LETTUCE”! 🥬
Had trouble seeing Gentle for a bit but then began thinking of “Gentle on My Mind” by Jim Webb and Glen Campbell. The seemingly Gentle hotel Guest with a Chrome dome committed Fraud by leaving without paying. Many a Head of Lettuce being used for those summer BLT’s in the hotel dining room. Love me some BLTs. Beautiful day on tap here. Now to work.
When we were kids, my mom substituted the T of Tomato for Tuna. Apparently we weren’t the biggest fans of fruit in our sandwiches! Can’t get enough of them (or any vegetable) now with the exception of cauliflower. Have a good one!
Good morning. Finally life is back to normal. Easy words for me today and a complete blind solve. Shucks ma’am, enjoyed your song choice and the extra tid bit you added besides. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Good Morning, Paul. Shucks, indeed! LOL! You never fail to give me a smile…Thank you, and here’s to you staying well and safe too, Brooklyn . Have a good one…🥬🙋🏻♀️
Unlike others, thought this morning was just as clever as can be. Pretty obvious that LETTUCE or LET US was part of the solution and voila !! Anagrams posed no problems, nor did jumble answer. Don’t recognize the song, Angela, but sure it is apt for the occasion. Am sure very difficult to find a song with LETTUCE in it.
Hey Terry…A very clever one…and yes, way easy, breezy. As for the music? LETTUCE? Definitely a tough PICK! But the Farmer song CROPped up into mind, and it just GREW on me! 😉 You know I’m not GREEN when it comes to music! 😂 Wishing you a good one, Terry. Stay safe out there…🥬🙋🏻♀️
An obvious Monday Jumble,w easy anagram solutions, even chrome,w its tricky spelling, and the blind head of lettuce cartoon solution.A successful start of the week.
You’re on a (toasted) roll, Chuck! Best of luck this week. 🙂
LETTUCE look at the greens for your salad
No leaves that are all limp and pallid
Iceberg, butter, Romaine
Folks, this is MY domain
And all of my heads are so valid!
Hi Helen…Again I wrote up a few, but kept to the puzzle’s theme. I listed it second. But I just did this one that may follow your thoughts…🙋🏻♀️
🥬 In a salad or a BLT,
It’s the lettuce that does it for me…
I love feeling the crunch,
And eat it by the bunch…
While getting my Vitamin C! 🥬
🥬 Here today we are dealing with greens,
And the Farmer’s directives are seen…
They need get through their heads,
Before they hit those beds…
Just how this lettuce needs to be gleaned! 🥬
Cute puzzle this morning and an easy solve for both the anagrams and cartoon answer., I remember receiving a very cute valentine many years ago in school. It had a picture of a beet and a head of lettuce on the card and said: My Heart Beets for You, Lettuce be Valentines”! Hoping all of you have a good day.
Betty…I was in the produce department in Shop Rite before the pandemic, and a woman accidentally ran her shopping cart into a tall side display of packaged grape tomatoes. They went flying, and some landed atop the iceberg bin. A guy standing next to me, dry deadpan said…”Everyone ROMAINE calm. And LETTUCE pray”…I think I fell in love! 😂🥬🙋🏻♀️
That’s great, Angela. We need more people in the world like that.
LOL! Definitely. His delivery was just so serious…I cracked up! I gave him a high-five and a Touché…Now, I haven’t high-fived a stranger in too long a time…I miss the spontaneity and familiarity we all had with one another before the pandemic took it all away…🤷🏻♀️
Betty…I just saw that your name printed as Barry 😱on my other reply to you. It wasn’t me!! It’s the $*(:!#@ auto-correct! 🤦🏻♀️
