Happy Thursday everyone! None of today’s clue words were new, but both of the 6-letter scrambles were. NOIDRO was the only one that I didn’t initially see. The double-letter trick of combining the O’s showed DOOR and the rest soon followed. DOYDL returned as having been used four times in the past — 5/11/20 being the most recent and 11/16/12 the oldest. WKONN had one other use back in January of 2020.
The first thing I noticed while looking at the cartoon was how large the birds were. They occupy nearly half the panel! The rest of the cartoon consisted of a winding stretch of roadway and a single car. At first glance I thought the occupants were David L. Hoyt and his wife Claire, but zooming in showed the driver wearing sunglasses — not prescription glasses — so I can’t say for certain it’s him. The smallest detail I noticed was the emblem on the vehicle. Jumble Jeff usually makes it a “J”, but today it looks to be nothing more than an ordinary circle. My cartoon is in black & white, so maybe folks with color are seeing something different.
The final solve was 13-letters, and all those O’s in a row reminded me of the centipedes from yesterday’s cartoon. I guessed the answer after reading the sentence and noticing the direction the birds were facing, so this one was a blind solve for me. We’ve been on a roll this week…. I’m sure a lot of people will be dropping by tomorrow! Until then, be well and enjoy the day.
KNOWN = Last used on 03/18/20 as WNNOK
ODDLY = Last used on 04/20/21 as DYLOD
INDOOR = Last used on 11/24/20 as DNORIO
OUTLAW = Last used on 05/26/21 as TWAULO
LOOK DOWN ON YOU = NEW SOLUTION
WKONN = Used on 01/24/20
DOYDL = Used on 05/11/20, 05/04/18, 11/21/17, 11/16/12
NOIDRO = NEW ANAGRAM
UWOLTA = NEW ANAGRAM
KNOODYNOOOULW = NEW ANAGRAM
UWOLTA was the hardest anagram for me. The cartoon solution was easy. All told an interesting but not difficult J.
I wonder what tomorrow will bring……………………………
Evolved? These birds really think they’re more evolved than us? Please…Talk about ego…Let’s face it, Folks…Evolution is odd. Take dolphins for example…They started off as sea creatures, then they evolved to have legs…Only to eventually return to the sea and lose them. Kind of deFEETS the PORPOISE, wouldn’t you say? 🦅🙋🏻♀️
Good Morning, Everyone…🦅 BIRD’S HIGH VIEW? 🦅
🎶 Hear me now and understand …He’s gonna find me some peace of mind…And if that peace of mind won’t stay…I’m gonna find myself a better way…🎶 “Mockingbird” – James Taylor & Carly Simon 1973 https://tinyurl.com/yvydtrr7
🦅 I guess by now it’s probably KNOWN that I’m not big on birds,
While looked at ODDLY by some Folks, it’s not all that absurd…
They’ve kept me INDOOR many times, while nesting in my awnings,
And oft times you could hear me say…”OUTLAW…you’ve ruined my mornings”!
But here today, birds mock we see…And egos?… Let’s review…
Birds of a feather we all are…Now they LOOK DOWN ON YOU! 🦅
👨🏻🏫 The Psychology Professor, KNOWN to act ODDLY rude at times, said to the class, “INDOOR here with me, consider me the OUTLAW…and if I seem to LOOK DOWN ON YOU…let it be food for thought…” 👨🏻🏫
🤷🏻♂️ She thought him quite an ODDLY one, this man courting her daughter,
And her feelings she made too well KNOWN…not caring should she oughta’…
Last night they all dined al fresco, but INDOOR’s where he stayed,
Thinking should there be marriage? An OUTLAW for sure he’d grade…
And so he told his girlfriend, “I’m not quite sure what to do…
But think about how you’d feel…should my Mom LOOK DOWN ON YOU”…🤷🏻♂️
While taking a look at puzzle cartoon, my girlfriend blind solved it so the credit goes to her. I didn’t have a chance to weigh in. To substantiate, anagrams followed but paused over INDOOR. Another clever puzzle. On towards the weekend !!
Good morning. Another easy Jumble day. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. I got it right away once I put the letters down. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
When I see birds above a car, especially a convertible, it makes me nervous. Flew through first two anagrams, pun intended, but needed more coffee to solve last two. Puzzle solve was easy. Preparing for a much needed 5-day furlough. I have Known an Outlaw or two and, Oddly, even met one at an Indoor pool. Beautiful weather for just about anything today on the Great Plains. Have fun!
👏🏻👏🏻! 🙋🏻♀️
Good morning again. Oddly enough the Outlaw was Known for his Indoor thefts then his street crimes. Take care.
👏🏻👏🏻! 🙋🏻♀️
While beating their wings all around,
The birds saw a sight to astound.
“Those humans cannot solve
What it takes to evolve,
And get themselves right off the ground!”
👏🏻👏🏻! 🙋🏻♀️
Bird in hand with the two in a bush,
This evolving is really a push
So what if birds can fly
Look at people drive by…
They’re quite happy to sit on their tush! 😉🙋🏻♀️
An excellent antidote!
An excellent introduction…👏🏻👏🏻! I love the word play! Hope all:is well…🦅🙋🏻♀️
I got it all yea., 100 yrs ole woman el
Another easy solve today. One of my least favorite movie of all time was Hitchcock’s “The Birds”. Those birds had serious attitude and really creeped me out. Wishing all of you a good day.
Hi all – It took me a few looks to see the two smaller words making up OUTLAW. Strangely enough, I saw the IN prefix to get INDOOR before I even thought to try the double letter trick. The first word I tried in the answer was KNOW, but when I wrote the letters *all* those O’s gave it away.
If you have a picnic with your wife’s mother, is she an OUTDOOR INLAW?
Good wishes to everyone. Nice Porpoise joke Angela, and I didn’t know their history so that was interesting too.
I think Paul nailed the sentence I was searching for, so I’ll pass today.
Tks, Steve. Evolution was the Round Table topic a while ago… I went out on a swim! 😉 But your mentioning all those “O’s”? Watch until the end… https://tinyurl.com/2anrpdcc 😮🙋🏻♀️
