  1. Good Morning, Everyone. 🐰 RECEDING HARE LINE? 🐰

    🎶 READY OR NOT, HARE I COME…Gee that used to be such fun…That’s a game we used to play….HIDE AND SEEK was its name….Oh ready or not, HARE I come,….Gee that used to be such fun….🎶 “Apples, Peaches, Pumpkin Pie” – Jay and the Techniques 1967.

    🐰 The SHREWD Rabbit is out to play a trick upon his foe,
    He’s left his cousin quite ADRIFT …he’s no intent to show…
    The game is Hide and Seek you see, well known to you and me
    You need not be a LAZIER sort…to hide behind a tree
    The game sometimes takes EIGHTY turns, depending who finds who,
    Like HELIUM can lift things up… this Rabbit though looks blue…
    He’s standing still all WOODEN-like, why don’t he move about?
    The object is to seek..so he should be laying a route
    If he insists on staying put…his chances looking slim…
    Just turn around and then there’d be no HIDE NOR “HARE” OF HIM! 🐰

    With only one repeat anagram this morning, WHERDS, seen on June 8th, ‘19, we have ourselves six old favorites. And what an eclectic mix of words…The only slight PAWsing for the Early Birds? LAZIER. It wasn’t a STUMPer, but they did take more than one LOOK…And now let’s HOP to it…and take a look at what we’re SEEKing today…

    So, does the old “not seeing the Forest for the Trees” come to mind? It did for me. Because this morning we see the Jump Cousins, Hop and Skip playing a game of Hide and Seek in the forest. But Hop is having a bad HARE day, since he seems somewhat disillusioned at not being to find his fellow player, Skip. Sure he HOPped around a bit..but one has to wonder…why doesn’t he put a little more effort into it? I mean he’s not very HOPtimistic, and he’s complaining, but he really looks like he couldn’t CARROT less…I want to yell out…”Hey, look over your shoulder. Right tHARE behind that tree”……away from all the open space…But you know the other old story…If a Hare CALLS in the forest…Oh no, wait..I’m think barking up the wrong tree….Well anyway, if he would just turn around, he’d see Skip right there in his line of vision…But if not, the way this is going…his cousin can just SKIP out on this game altogether…It’s gonna be a definite case of HARE today…gone tomorrow. A sad TALE in the making…And he’ll have no BUNNY to blame but himself…Because then for sure he won’t see..HIDE NOR “HARE” OF HIM Now how clever is that?

    And today’s hidden little gem? THARE’s really just the one…Amidst the foliage and tree stumps? And the clearing that HOP HOPped through shown by Jeff’s circular trail? Right there behind that tree, HIDING in plain SITE? It’s SKIP…Poking his head out…and grinning from RABBIT ear to RABBIT ear at his HARE-brained cousin!

    So, HARE you have it Folks, Done. Wishing you all a good day…Be well, stay safe…and LETTUCE pray that there’s better days to come FOREST all. 🐰🙋🏻‍♀️

  3. 🎈 When the LAZIER of the EIGHTY members assigned to fill the HELIUM balloons thought they were SHREWD and hid out in the WOODEN shed, the others, ADRIFT looking for them, finally came upon them…all but one…and they never saw HIDE NOR HAIR OF HIM again 🎈

    💵 Tom was always LAZIER than any on the others,
    He’d shirk responsibility when it would fit his druthers…
    So SHREWD was he, he’d often bet ten dollars to a man,
    The eight of them would stay ADRIFT to catch him if they can
    With EIGHTY dollars up for grabs, he’d float like HELIUM
    And manage to evade them all…and collect quite a sum
    Then they would be left WOODEN-still, angry that they’d been beat
    But time and time again they’d bet against Tom and his feats
    But who’s to blame for all the loss?… These guys are pretty dim…
    By now you’d think they’d learn…With Tom? No HIDE NOR HAIR OF HIM! 💵

  4. Good morning. Going through the words on my first go-round, I was able to get 2,3,5 and 6 right away. Then after awhile I decided to take a LAZIER attitude toward completing the puzzle by looking everything up. It saved me an hour at best and now I can go on to other things. I have Webster’s New World Dictionary 3rd college edition and the word was not in there. I was surprised. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Your comment made me wonder how Lazier did the last time out, so I took a look…and it caused quite a uproar that day too. Take a look at the link above, for 02/07/20…And as I mentioned, it did cause a few of my friends to do a double take this morning too.     I got a kick out of all your puns with Hare, Angela, most of all bad Hare day. I had a rare Sunday blind solve, though I don’t think I’ve heard that expression for many years. It still took me some time to get the anagrams, with Lazier being my toughest. So glad to see a woman finally make it, 100 years after the Nineteenth Amendment.

And you know I’m definitely the poster child for bad HARE days! 💇🏻‍♀️ As for Lazier, as I was just telling Paul…it looks like it’s going to be the stumper today, as it was last time out, when it ran away with the polls. And I too had the idiom right off the bat. The HIDE of Hide and Seek, with the depicted HARE made it a Hop, Skip and a Jump to a quick solve…Once again, David’s given us another very funny puzzle! …Or should I say a very BUNNY puzzle? …Or a very PUNNY puzzle? I think all of the above! 😉 And yes, for we women, it’s been a long time coming. I read something last night that said…”Ladies, make sure to wear your shoes. There’s glass everywhere…” Amen.     • Yes, indeed, Caroline it’s taken a long time to come a long way baby but we finally made it and a California gal to boot – with Bay Area roots – Oakland – Steve’s home town, and of course professional roots in good old S.F.

        I’m learning a lot about her, including the fact that her husband was born exactly a week before she was, in Brooklyn, NY.

  6. Another vote for “lazier” here. I couldn’t get past “realize” even though that has seven letters. Don’t know why I didn’t think of an “ier” ending – perhaps next time. Did get the cartoon answer and backed into lazier. So all in all it was not a lazy Sunday. Brain got a good workout. Have a good day all.

    • Hi Betty. I too was having a lazy, somewhat relaxed Sunday…until I heard about Alex Trebek. This year has got to be one of the all time worst. I give up…Be well, stay safe and God knows we need to count every little blessing. 🐰🙋🏻‍♀️

        • Yes, he truly was. And he was so gracious through it all. I was really hoping he’d make it through this last round, but the odds weren’t there. My courage is waning…it’s just a horrible year. 😢

  7. Hi all – The ‘IUM’ suffix worked for HELIUM, and the double letter trick helped with WOODEN. Usually, words with Z’s are easy, but I actually had to back into this one. I didn’t see the ‘IER’ until I had the letters for LAZIER. I did get the answer right from the puzzle giving HIDE from ’this game’ and HARE from ‘cousin.’

    Angela, I didn’t notice the hare until I expanded the online cartoon, but when I did, I wondered whether that’s a carrot on the ground near the tree root. If not, don’t worry. I understand that many people wouldn’t CARROT-all about such a tiny detail.

  10. Sunday sunk me, LAZIER ate me alive! Even with rabbits I couldn’t get near the answer…. Let’s go back to Elvis or the Headless guy, ok?
    Never met him but tried out for Jeopardy. Alex seemed to be a very decent, witty, caring man, he will be missed by millions. Even parodied on SNL, one great tribute!
