CARTOON ANSWER:

AFTER EATING SO MUCH CANDY, THE SCARY-LOOKING TRICK-OR-TREATERS WERE – – –

GLTHIFUFLR = “FRIGHT-FULL”

Ghoul morning everyone, and Happy Halloween!  The wait is over and we finally have our Halloween themed Jumble puzzle for 2017.  The clue words were no trouble at all, with FRUGAL being the only anagram needing a second look.

Moving along to the cartoon, Jeff gave us a spooktacular drawing of a mom and children dressed in Halloween costumes.  Mom really stole the show with her Bride of Frankenstein costume and bat earrings.  The two children were dressed for the occasion with the one on the left as the grim reaper and the one on the right as a zombie.  If you have any kids dressed in these costumes tonight, I hope you remember today’s cartoon and it gives you a big smile.

It may be hard to see in the newspaper version, but in moms candy bowl was what looks like Jumble candy!  All we see is the “BLE” of the wrapper and it was a very well placed detail.  I wonder what flavor it is???

The solution to the puzzle required me to write out the clue letters, and what a frightfully fun pun it was once solved.  Very clever, David!  I hope everyone has a very Happy Halloween and I’ll see you tomorrow!

NOOBBH – HOBNOB

TRUGET – GUTTER

CNEERO – ENCORE

FENISU – INFUSE

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE PERFORMER EARNED SOME MONEY WORKING AS A MIME, BUT IT WAS – – –

FAHPKONOGTTNOEIS – NOTHING TO SPEAK OF

Good Morning, Everyone!             🙌🏻  MIME over MATTER! 🙌🏻

🙌🏻 🙌🏻 The first time that I saw a MIME on a street in New York City
I remember thinking “He’s flexible…I wonder if he’s witty…”
And my FATHER grabbed me by the hand and took me from the GUTTER
And said, “You can’t get up so close…Come, Let’s go find your Mother…”.
“My Mother, Are you kidding me? She’s somewhere in the mob…
We know so many people here…and she’s one to HOBNOB…”
Of course it wasn’t said out loud, but this is what I thought,
My Father was still tugging me, ’cause tickets he had bought.
A show?…I want to PICKET itthe show held no allure…
My mind INFUSEd with wonder now…The Mime, please an ENCORE.
So when the show was over, I forced my Dad to seek
This white-faced man with that one tear, who he said didn’t speak.
I wasn’t going home yet, and I made my Father walk,
I wanted to give money to this man who couldn’t talk.
We found him and I stared wide-eyed at that one falling tear
I got up close and said, “Don’t cry…and I hope that you can hear…”🙌🏻 🙌🏻

Childhood for me was a mixed bag of fun and endless, endless questions. Sort of like our words today…Are they new, B B with an H, Farther, how do you spell Feng Shui? Fun, but questions…Great words, though, if I do SAY SO myself. So, our cartoon. Jeff shows us a street scene; a group of people, with a mime passing the hat around. And sadly, the only two who care are the oldest and the youngest. Oh, and the dog. By the dialogue, the other three are all TALK, no ACTION. The indifference though, leaves me SPEECHLESS. “An imaginary dollar”? Please, there are NO WORDS. It’s a tough crowd for this mime, like walking through a MIME field! Dave’s clue TELLS us that the mime “earned ‘Some’ money…” Jeff’s showing us it wasn’t much…”NOTHING TO SPEAK OF“. Good pun, Guys. (Good lesson, too). Eye candy today? Coffee cup? Man-bun? Waggin’ tail on the dog? Two blonde women dressed in purple? (Oh, I forgot. We weren’t going to TALK about that)!  No, it’s the quarter going into the hat. Enlarged, you can actually see Washington’s profile! Kudos, Jeff, what detail! Now THAT’S SAYING something!

So, there you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone!

And today, let’s try thinking Outside the box! 🙌🏻 🙋🏻

ENPUR – PRUNE

DIBEA – ABIDE

FAYSET – SAFETY

TIMYUN – MUTINY

CARTOON ANSWER:

IF POLITICIANS WORKED TOGETHER TO SOLVE PROBLEMS,

THEN THEY COULD SAY – – –

PREABISANTY – “BYE” – PARTISAN

Good Morning, Everyone!           🇺🇸  AISLE Make You A Deal...🇺🇸

🎶” BYE-BYE baby, baby, goodbye… BYEBYE baby, don’t make me cry… Bye, baby, bye…”🎶

🇺🇸🇺🇸 Today a twist I offer, from what’s my usual fare
Because there’s no way POLITICS I’m going to speak here…
I have a soap box ready, but on it I won’t be
This is a place for words and fun and not my MUTINY.
My views are strong believe me, most things I cannot hide
But Jumble Is Bipartisan, and so I must ABIDE
So, PRUNE back sentiments I’ll do, today no theme there’ll be
The politics shall not arise…for both of our SAFETY! 🇺🇸🇺🇸

Today’s words all look familiar, except for MUTINY. Is it new and UPRISING? Maybe. Ok, Let’s go ACROSS the AISLE to our cartoon. POLITICS. Hmm. I said I wouldn’t touch this…and I should stay true to my word, right? I mean, it IS Politics. But let’s face it Folks, there’s an ELEPHANT in the room! And as a rule, I don’t make Political jokes, because I’ve seen too many of them get elected. So, I’ll just concentrate on solving this. Jeff shows us representatives of both parties, saying that they’ve “Together written a great bill”. Anyone wondering who we have here? Nancy Pelosi? Steve Scalise? No one in particular, maybe Jeff just being LIBERAL with his drawing…? Should we take a VOTE? Ok, I’m getting carried away, let me be a little more CONSERVATIVE here… The announcement the two parties are making seems to have shocked the reporters. They’re like…”Huh? What? Is this for real..”? It’s all Greek to them, the MEDEA. Republicans and Democrats together? Saying…”BYE“…PARTISAN! Drop the Mic, this pun is a TRIUMPH! Kudos, Dave! Nice. Once again you’ve ELECTED to give us something to PUNder! And Jeff? You’d get my VOTE any day. So, eye candy. The incredulous look on the reporters face? The LEFT mic that’s really dropping? The fact that all the women are wearing purple? No. It’s the tiny little flags on the LEFT lapels of the three at the dais. The woman at the RIGHT? No flag…Hmm…So there you have it, Folks, DoneKEY, this was fun! Final thought: You know what keeps going through my mind? If Clinton had won the ELECTION…? The puns would have been HILLARYUS!
Have a great day, Everyone!  🎶AISLE be seeing you…🎶 🇺🇸🙋🏻

ANBIC = CABIN

SHARKN = SHRANK

CYREEL = CELERY

CARTOON ANSWER:

FOR SAFETY’S SAKE, THE COAL OWNERS AGREED TO MAKE SOME – – –

GAMCINSHNEER = “MINER” CHANGES

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  CELERY was the only word that took an extra minute to figure out.  It’s funny how simple words that are well jumbled still manage to trip me up.  When I saw SHARKN, all I could think of was a friend that has a license plate with the exact same letters.  Her husband has CHUMN as his plate.  They’re such a fun couple that love the ocean and do a lot of boating and fishing.  Moving along to the cartoon, we see some hard working coal miners and a man in a double breasted suit.  Reading the dialogue and sentence, CHANGES came to mind immediately.  Writing out the clue letters led me to MINER for the finish and a very creative pun.  I’m looking forward to the Halloween themed Jumble and I hope it has tons of detail!  Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow.

CARTOON ANSWER:

WHEN ASKED WHAT INSPIRED HIM TO WRITE A LENGTHY BOOK, J.R.R TOLKIEN SAID – – –

ANLGOOYSTRSIT = IT’S A LONG STORY

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday!  The clue words weren’t overly difficult and I managed to get through them quickly and without any trouble whatsoever.  I don’t recall GOOEY being used in the past so I’ll take a chance and guess that it was the most difficult anagram for today.  Moving forward to the cartoon, we arrive at what I first thought was the Oval Office with a former president.  Reading the dialogue and sentence, I quickly discovered that it was the office of high-fantasy author J.R.R. Tolkien and he’s being asked a question about his book “The Lord of the Rings”.  Jeff took the creative liberty to add some artistic flair to his piece by including a large dragon on the front of the desk as well as a Jumble puzzle with a cartoon featuring the Eye of Sauron.  The solution to this puzzle came instantly without the need of the clue letters.  Let me know if you had any luck solving Mr. Tolkien’s Jumble!  Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow.

CARTOON ANSWER:

FOR THE SMART CHILD, LEARNING TO PUT THINGS IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER WAS —

BSSAYAACASE = AS EASY AS A, B, C

Good Monday morning my friends and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun!  The Monday puzzle is usually a relatively easy one and today was no exception.  All of the clue words were old favorites that came instantly with no trouble whatsoever.  I’d choose ABACUS to be the most difficult anagram to decipher just for the fact that it’s such an obscure and archaic word.  Moving along to the cartoon, we see Jeff and his wife having an interaction with a young child thay is playing with some trains.  Zooming in on the puzzle, you can clearly see that each one has a name on it and they’re all from the cartoon Thomas & Friends.  Jeff appears to be offering the child a gift of a train that has Jumble written on it that the young one will have to work into alphabetical position.  The solution came instantly after reading the cartoon sentence and dialogue making this puzzle a quick and effortless solve.  Enjoy your Monday and I’ll see you right back here tomorrow!

THE QUARTERBACKS WHO DIDN’T GET ALONG WERE – – –

EESAGESIPVSSGRVAI – PASSIVE AGGRESSIVE

Good Morning, Everyone!            🏈 PASS That Football…..🏈

🏈🏈 FOOTBALL fans: We’re rabid, Winters VOYAGE takes us through
The cold hard months without baseball; in New York I wear blue…
We listen to the GOSSIP, who’s hurt and may not play
We scrutinize the Stat Reports before each big game day.
It’s our team VERSUS who this week, we get it all laid out
We want to see on paper first who seems to have the clout.
The odds can be EXCESSive as the experts may predict
They’ll have your team under 6 points..C’mon they can’t be licked!
It causes hopes to VANISH, before it even starts
The “Playbooks” think they’re always right, despite what’s in you heart…
It’s not a proven science, a lot of things go wrong…
Your QUARTERBACK you look up to…The man who says, “GO LONG”
But every year when Season starts, first thought that comes to me…?
Joe Namath in those Pantyhose…Man, that was so GROOVY! 🏈🏈

Our words have been TOSSED around before, but today, the SCRAMBLING is great. I RUSHed through them in a SNAP. Today’s cartoon: Jeff’s showing us two Quarterbacks, acting a little AGGRESSIVE towards one another, while they discuss PASSing the ball. Read between the LINEs,MEN, and women… PASSIVE AGGRESSION! What a pun! Pure BLITZ! The Jumble Guys TACKLED it perfectly! Eye Candy….I was going to go with the FOOTBALL that the player was HOLDING, but I PASSED. What could be better than picturing Broadway Joe!
So, there you have it Folks, done! Have a great day, Everyone! 🏈🙋🏻

Now I’m going to TURNOVER and get some sleep…
And to all the Yankee fans out there…I know, I know…💔

PRUEP – UPPER

SEOUDX – EXODUS

EYXNOG – OXYGEN

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE FARMER VIEWED HIS FIELD OF PUMPKINS. TO HIM, IT WAS:

GORUEDUSOG – – – “GOURD – GEOUS”

Good morning, Everyone!                Hello, GOURD-GEOUS!

🎃🎃 Pumpkins, squash, cucumbers too, are all considered gourds
A funny sounding, oft confusing, oddly looking word…
It’s usually in Autumn that we mostly hear it’s name
Although the summer melons are included in its fame.
I think that I can count the times in my lifetime I’ve said
The word itself, it’s one that never pops into my head…
But look at this, it’s shown today, this word to me bizarre
The pun is great, but Gourd still won’t work in my repertoire! 🎃🎃

At the 1969 Academy Awards, Barbra Streisand, on accepting her Best Actress award for Funny Girl, gazed lovingly at the gold statuette, and said, in her inimitable Brooklyn accented voice…”Hello, Gorgeous”. That’s what immediately came to mind when I read this mornings cartoon. I wonder if that SEED was PLANTed in Dave’s mind too. Nothing new CROPped up in today’s words, but the anagrams are excellent. (Even after I knew the last word was OXYGEN, Eggnog was still in my mind). SEASONal Affective Disorder I guess! So, our cartoon. A Pumpkin farm, a farmer, a blonde dressed in purple (!), and pumpkins galore. Living on the East Coast, I’ve done this three times already this year. Pumpkin and Apple picking. And it’s planned again for Sunday! We have Pumpkins inside and outside. We’ll cook them, carve them, bake with them, decorate with them…We make elaborate ORANGEments. We have fun with them. I buy tons of  Jack Be Little ones and hold an annual “Pumpkin Patch Hunt”. (Like an Easter Egg hunt, sans the hard BOILing). The kids have a really GOURD time, and it’s always a SMASHing success. I dress up as the Fairy GOURDmother, and the parents come for the BOOS. Anyway, the farmer’s very proud of his CROP, he’s acting all MUSHY about it. The woman is taking a picture. We obviously have a GOURD looking group of pumpkins here…They’re “GOURD-GEOUS”! Great pun, great puzzle, great piece of Pumpkin Pulchritude!
So, there you have it, Folks! Done! Eye candy? I’m not PUMPed up by anything in the cartoon this morning. Today it’ll be the dialogue. “I need to post this “picture”… I guess she’s into PULP FICTION!
Have a great day, Everyone! Get out there and pick some PUNkins! 🎃 🙋🏻

TOODU = OUTDO

UGBOM = GUMBO

WILPOL = PILLOW

NALETD = DENTAL

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE TWINS GOT IN TROUBLE A LOT.  THEY WERE OFTEN —

OUOGOPOWDNT = UP “TWO” NO GOOD

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  Today’s clue words were the most challenging we’ve seen so far this week with DENTAL being my pick for the most difficult one.  OUTDO would be my pick for the runner up, but in a distant second.  Moving along to the cartoon, I read the sentence first and then looked at the answer layout.  It was an instant solve with the solution popping out at me for some reason.  The cartoon featured two mischievous twin boys in the kitchen “stealing” some delicious treats.  Their heist was foiled when the law entered the room and caught them red handed.  Sometimes that’s the way the cookie crumbles and they learned a valuable life lesson.  It was an excellent display of teamwork, but mom looks too furious to have even noticed.  The chips will now fall where they may, but something tells me this won’t be their last crime spree.  Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

KHAYS = SHAKY

TPRAA = APART

CYRITK = TRICKY

ICEJNT = INJECT

CARTOON ANSWER:

TO PROMOTE HIS BUSINESS, THE LOCKSMITH WORE —

SHKAPAKYNET = “KHA-KEY” PANTS

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  All of the clue words were quickly solved at first glance with no hesitation whatsoever.  I’ll choose TRICKY as the most difficult anagram to decipher in honor of the solution to the cartoon puzzle which I’ll get to in just a moment.  Jeff transported us back to the lock and key store (the name of which escapes me this morning) where a brief team meeting is taking place.  By reading the dialogue we discover that that the locksmith is unveiling a new uniform which is turning out to be a tough sell to the other employees.  Will these new pants be his key to success?  We also see that everyone is already wearing a shirt with a key on it.  I noticed that the locksmith has his key on the right side of his shirt while the other two are wearing theirs on the left. Even though the letter layout was cryptic, I assumed that PANTS would be part of the solution.  With six letters left, KEY was a quick find leaving KHA to be found for the finish.  A brilliant pun and a funny cartoon make this Wednesday puzzle a “KEY-PER”!!!  Have a wonderful day and I’ll see you tomorrow!  🙂

CARTOON ANSWER:

TO CREATE THE PAINTING OF THE HOG, THE ARTIST NEEDED JUST THE RIGHT —

GETPNIM = PIGMENT

Good Tuesday morning everyone!  All of the clue words were old favorites, with PARDON being the only word to give me some hesitation.  Moving on to the cartoon, we see a woman painting a picture of a flying pig with a farmer type gentleman admiring her work.  The inspiration for her painting can be seen fast asleep in the pigsty with the faintest smile on its face.  Did she dress the pig in wings or does the farmer truly have an oddity on his hands?  Either way the solution was a very quick solve of only 7 letters.  Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
