  1. Good Morning, Everyone….🪨 ROCK OF STAGES 🪨

🎶Gonna take a SEDIMENTAL journey…gonna set my heart at ease…gonna make a SEDIMENTAL journey to renew old memories…🎶 “Sentimental Journey” – (with apologies to) The Ames Brothers 1951 https://tinyurl.com/597y5jtu

🪨 There’s definitely not a GLADE in sight, let’s just make sure that’s clear,
These workers made to CARRY rocks…a rough job def to bear…
DEFEAT did overtake some, but nothing did IMPAIR,
Completion of old Stonehenge…the structure would appear
We hear the overseer call out that the work shouldn’t lag…
But to the poor guys pulling rocks?…The whole thing’s A REAL DRAG…🪨

    …A puzzle about Stonehenge…MONUMENTAL!

So…Today…Salisbury Plain, Wiltshire, England…the iconic Stonehenge. https://tinyurl.com/48y9jcp4  …And let’s face it, Folks…this puzzle is WEIGHT too simple to spend time on…We see the workers DRAGging rocks…and all the dialogue leads to how little they’re enjoying it…Plus the word PULL? …(=DRAG)…So why beat around the SLUSH…A HARD solve? BOULDERdash! Building Stonehenge?…It must have been…A REAL DRAG! https://tinyurl.com/2xu4uv8e …And David’s GRANITE us an easy, breezy start to our weekend…

Jeff’s💎Gems? The “rollers” made of TREE TRUNKS, and the dirty looks being given by the four men towards the BARKing female overseer…(who seems a little UPRIGHT…I mean uptight). The way Jeff DRUID their eyes is hilarious…And the comment about the Solstice…ALIGN as witty as they come…

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of my friend who was hired on a trial basis as an apprentice on a construction site. Overhearing that it’s always best to follow along with what the other workers do, on his very first day on the job, just as the foreman was approaching, his partner reached up, grabbed a beam, and was hanging from the ceiling. The foreman asked what the heck he was doing, and the guy said, “I’m a lightbulb”…The foreman shook his head, muttered a few choice words, and told the guy to give it a rest and clock out for the day. As he was leaving, my friend started following him, and of course the foreman asked where he was going…And my friend answered, “I can’t work in the dark”…Yes, the foreman CRACKed up, but he told my friend he was a real TOOL…and he didn’t have enough time on the job to go out on such a LIMB…I swear, if this guy ever BUILDS a résumé it’ll be a miracle…🪨🙋🏻‍♀️

    …And a Shout 🗣️Out to David…All new anagrams today…🔠🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤞🏻 They sat out in the GLADE and spoke about how the burden of DEFEAT was tough to CARRY…A REAL DRAG in fact…and how they hoped it wouldn’t IMPAIR their future endeavors…🤞🏻

🤷🏻‍♀️🤷🏻‍♂️Refusing to let one DEFEAT their hopes and dreams IMPAIR,
Their confidence not shattered…not giving in to fear…
The plans they had to use the GLADE they’d CARRY out for sure,
Despite the little setback they’re forced now to endure
A little more research perhaps for dealing with the crag…
Right now the only thing making this project A REAL DRAG…🤷🏻‍♂️🤷🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. Going to make it quick because I’m outta here. I was able to get both parts with relative ease. Just listened to your song choice because it was my brothers favorite song. I also liked it as well. Until tomorrow take care.

  5. Didn’t quite put it all together for a blind solve, but with easy words to unscramble, it all fit together nicely. Have a nice day, Angela…and thanks for posting a great song from the Ames Brothers. Terry

  6. All of the anagrams were there ! I did have to put my thinking cap on for IMPAIR , but I got it then ! The jumble was teasing me with only 9 letters and I saw Large, but then I saw DRAG and that helped me see REAL! It was a good way to cap the week for tomorrow Sunday Funday ! And yes as was stated by the rest of the, jumble family, your song choice Angela was fun and good , so take care and

  7. Guess I woke up too early! I thought glade was ‘aledg’ then was stumped on the cartoon as well! Chuck!

  8. Nice easy Jumble on this last Saturday of April. It’s raining here in the greater Pittsburgh area so I won’t be out walking on the Celebrate Trails Day. Oh Well. Thanks for your post Angela. Have a great day, Stan

  9. I had to do a bit of research about Stonehenge before cranking out these limericks. Not sure I’m entirely accurate but all in the name of poetic license!

Facing another day with some dread

Dragged their weary bones out of their bed

Will we get this job done

    In time for the sun

Its light on us all to shed………

…….for the maximum number of hours

That the sun will exert it powers

    It will all align

    With our unique design

And the glory will be all ours!

In the future, folks will say

Did they build this thing in a day?

    Just how did they know

Where the sun would first show

    Every year on midsummer’s day!

    Helen

    • 🪨No research ‘twas needed be done,
To come up with this puzzle’s pun…
It was there with the rock,
      Being ‘DRAGged’…that’s the lock…
Anything else was added for fun…🪨

      🤷🏻‍♀️It took ‘bout 1500 years,
Of blood, sweat and toil and tears…
      So one doubts counting hours,
      Far as the sun’s powers…
It’s phases took time to appear…🤷🏻‍♀️

🤷🏻‍♂️As for glory…well until this day,
It’s spoken of in different ways…
      The intent at the start?
      For the dearly depart?
      It’s debated still…for come what may…🤷🏻‍♂️

📆 As famous the monument reigns,
      It’s mystery always remains…
      Was it calendar’s use?
      From a long ago muse?
      There’s still varied myriad claims…📆

🪨 Bottom line…today it was for show,
Knowledge ‘bout Stonehenge one needn’t know…
      Maybe “stone” caught Dave’s eye,
So he used wit and wry?
It’s the job…A REAL ‘DRAG’ from get go!🪨

      • You’ve well and truly taken me to task today Angela! Nonetheless I enjoyed the research and I’m sure many readers were prompted to do their own,

        Helen

        • It was hardly my intention to take anyone to task, Helen. I’m definitely not like that. You know I just played off your limericks…That’s what it’s all about…the back and forth…And as it’s meant to be all in fun, that’s how I approached it…The wording had more to do with the tempo of the rhyming than anything else!…. As far as the solve goes though, I think the puzzle may have led some to think Stonehenge meant more than it did…And knowing David, he may have intentionally done that, prompting Jeff to run with the ball. Who knows…They’re both so exceptionally witty…But as I mentioned to the commenter after you, the simple solve was right there…between the wording of the question and the dialogue. I don’t know if you do the puzzles, or just enjoy them as a limerick source, but either way one has to admit that it was an extremely clever go of it today, and I’m pretty sure most people got it…As for research though?…I’m led to believe that Stonehenge may have received more hits today than it ever has in the past! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. I admit I know little about Stonehenge’s construction, but I found the graphic confusing. Is that a woman dressed as a sheik/sheikh? Didn’t they use this system of moving heavy objects in ancient Egypt? Looking into the matter, I found the following on Stonehenge’s construction: “The exact techniques used to quarry, transport and erect the massive stones, especially the bluestones of Wales, remain a subject of debate and ongoing research.”

Still, I should have gotten the answer. My hangup was that I saw A something DEAL instead A REAL DRAG.

    • “Stone”henge was just the prop. Stone equaling rock…But the simple solve was just “DRAGging” those STONES…It was a horrendous ‘JOB’, as alluded to in the question…A REAL DRAG…The woman? Mother Nature, perhaps…And if you know Jeff, he champions women…As for the tree trunk rollers, there’s a strong theory that they were used to transport the rocks…as I mentioned in my post. Let’s face it, Stonehenge conjures up theories/debates til this day…But, again, as far as solving this one goes? …It just boils down to “Can’t see the forest for the trees” (no pun intended)…🪨🙋🏻‍♀️
