🗑️ The “Valley News” is saying there’s been a major SWITCH, They thought there’d be a shopping mall…but somehow ‘twas a hitch… The PRINT on today’s paper has brought a MUDDY pall, There’ll be no LOUNGE or Costco…depressing to them all The value of their homes now? We’re talking major slump… And one can’t blame these Folks for being so DOWN IN THE DUMPS…🗑️
The LandFILL? These poor Folks are coming up EMPTY!
So…Today, according to the newspaper, we’re in “The Valley”…And we meet John HURT and his neighbor, Claire PAINS, TRASHing around the news that’s there’s a LANDFILL (=DUMP) being built DOWNwind from them. And needless to say, it’s SCENT them both into a deep state of depression…(= feeling DOWN) …Realizing that even if they tried to sell their homes it would be a WASTE of time now and it’s obvious that they’re in a HEAP of trouble…And while they may have REFUSEd to believe the rumors that had BIN THROWN OUT here and there in the past, they NOSE now that the gossip mongers weren’t just talking TRASH…But…what CAN they do now?…Nothing at HAUL…Yes, it STINKS…but at this point, their LANDS were tied…And needless to say…they were…DOWN IN THE DUMPS *…And while it might be just a LITTER too much for them to bear…for us it’s an easy, breezy DROP IN THE BUCKET…and we’ve WASTEd no time at all solving this one…

So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of my friend, who considered applying for a position in sanitation. He heard they made good money, so he figured he’d CLEAN UP…and that the training was a piece of cake, since he’d PICK IT UP as he went along…Well it’s BIN three months now and we haven’t heard anything more from him about it. But we’ve BIN here before…And since we NOSE him so well, and we’re so used to him talking TRASH, we’re not HOLDING OUR BREATH over it…Whether he gets the job or not…we figure it’ll all COME OUT IN THE WASH…🗑️🙋🏻♀️

It’s 9:30 and I only see one response and I too like Stan finished my coffe and I’m ready to come nt , but I’m kind of DOWN IN THE DUMPS too ! It made me really thirsty ! I just couldn’t get the jumble ! I got all the anagrams right , but I could find the words , they were far into the landfill! But I guess you can’t get them all the time ! But I’m looking forward to end the workweek with a jumble like Wednesday ! And Angela , your song written in 1933 , was really a good one that I heard for the first time ! And as usual you made my non-solving jumble a winner with your descriptions and analysis of Jeff’s Gems and you topped it off with your friend getting a job , maybe but it’ll all wash out !! Easy solve today, but the solution brings to mind a current issue in our island community of where to site a future landfill (trash dump) since no neighborhood wants it near themselves, and there is due concern about not putting it over possible aquifer below. On an island there’s only so much room.
