🍖They’re serving up a MOUND of food, and yes, BEAUTY to some, The platters are ABLAZE with meat…(and here’s where CONCH is done)… Today there is a new guy who’s taken up a seat… To be a part of dining at the friendly LUNCH-N-“MEET”!🍖
You gotta love an old-fashioned deli…To be FRANK though, sadly, there aren’t as many around as there used to be…Where NYC was once the MEAT-ropolis for delis, now it’s become somewhat of a big DILL finding one. And I always RELISHed some good deli fare. So it’s BACON my heart in a way…RYE really enjoy dining at a good deli. But the one closest to me has closed…WURST thing that could happen to my neighborhood…definitely left us in a PICKLE…And so many of us had a real BEEF with it…But…BUTTER you gonna do?…Being SAUER-KRAUT change things…Oh well…I guess OLIVE it alone, and instead LETTUCE CUT to the chase, and WRAP this thing up…
So…Today…A neighborhood deli. And notice how BRISKET looks to be dealing with the LUNCH crowd. And we MEAT three regulars, SAL AMI, FRANK FUTER, and PETE L JUICE, welcoming the newbie, SAM WICH. * Obviously Sam’ll need to KETCHUP with the others, but for now I’m sure he can MEAT them in the middle as far as HASHing out the usual topic of conversation…And as far as HASHing out our solve…it’s definitely a piece of CAKE…With the words DELI (= MEAT), GOT TOGETHER (= MEET), and MIDDAY (= LUNCH time) in our question SETTING THE TABLE for us, and the dialogue PASTRAMI, SPICE-ing things up, this one was easily WRAPped up…When these guys got together, it was a …LUNCH-N-“MEET” … https://tinyurl.com/3r54yekb ..And I’m sure you MUSTARD guessed this one in the blink of an EYE…ROUND here that’s the ORDER of the day…
Jeff’s💎Gems? There’s signage on the wall behind the counter reading “Catering”, and it looks like the cutter at station #6 seems upset. Maybe because he doesn’t have any customers…he’s probably tired of LOAFing aROUND. And the look on the face of the woman sitting at right made me automatically think of the DELI scene from “When Harry Met Sally”; https://tinyurl.com/3ep69xwu ..(CRYSTAL clear, so to speak…without even tRYAN!)…But since I’m known for my DELI-gence, I did find it a little COD that there’s condiments and napkins on just that one table at left, and that with 6 people shown to be dining, there’s only one can of soda, no napkins, and especially just one order of fries for four men. Pickles I see, but one order of fries? Could be a DELIemma…
So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And this puzzle reminds me of my friend, who does have a RYE sense of humor…We told him that we thought he was becoming addicted to DELI MEAT…but he said he could quit COLD TURKEY any time he wanted…He’s such a HAM…🍖🙋🏻♀️
*And I also should mention that the new guy, Sam, bears a resemblance to Will Shortz, so there’s a GOUDA chance that this foursome might just be a real SLICE of life…🤷🏻♀️
Kudos to David for a new word today…Conch…👏🏻👏🏻
AndPrayers for California 😢🙏🏻…And due to having a heavy heart…I’m skipping the light-hearted limericks today…

👍🏻They had a MOUND of CONCH and LUNCHEON MEAT…and with the BEAUTY of the setting sun ABLAZE in color, they decided to dine outdoors…👍🏻
🤷🏻♂️He’d never eaten CONCH before, he had a MOUND of reasons, But everyone told him to try…for now it was in season… The BEAUTY of the buffet…ABLAZE with savory treats… Did seem somewhat appealing…but he stuck with LUNCHEON MEAT…🤷🏻♂️

Good morning. Started out fine. I got the words quickly. I use to buy conch in a can and make a cold salad at Christmas time. That’s why I was able to come up with the word so quick. I drew a blank on the cartoon and in less than a minute went for the answer. You’re right about the Jewish Deli’s disappearing Angela. We are down to one that’s close by on Avenue T in the East 50s but they are pricing themselves out of business. A pastrami on rye is going to cost you in the neighborhood of $35.00. They even did away with the waitress service. Until tomorrow take care.

Good Morning, Paul. $35! Crazy, right? I haven’t been there in a long time, but I knew it was still there. There was that great one on Kings Highway, and another on Avenue U and Ocean, I think it was. Sad they’re all gone. Kudos on Conch…and take care. 🍖🙋🏻♀️

This might have been easy for some Jumble Super Stars, but it eluded me until I completed the anagrams. My first thoughts, if there were any, were XXXXX-A-THON, or LUNCH-X-XXX, but those didn’t go anywhere. So completed the anagrams for an easy solution. I did manage to know that CONCH was a sea shell, so that helped. Sorry to hear so few deli’s in NYC these days. And hoping for better news from California. Enjoy your Thirsty Thursday. Terry

Terry…you do realize that it says right there on the puzzle to solve the words and then arrange the letters to get the answer, right? So you’re doing exactly what’s expected. And kudos on Conch…🍖🙋🏻♀️

Interesting anagrams today. I got through them but Conch really surprised me. After that the final solution to the cartoon just fell into place. Thank you for your post Angela. I feel your pain about the lack of a good Deli. I haven’t had a Good Ruben in a long time. Thanks, Stan

Conch? Not a word I was familiar with, but after looking up that anagram solution, I was looking for an ‘A’ for the middle letter, lacking that, I did come up with lunch as the first entry quickly followed by the complete cartoon solution.BTW The Reuben sandwich is also one of my favorites. Chuck.
