Happy Tuesday everyone! All of today’s clue words were reliable favorites from the Jumble archives. But in a surprise twist, all of the scrambles returned as being new! The last time that happened was about three weeks ago on July 5th. None of the offerings had me dragon my feet, but VNTIEI did take a few extra seconds to sort through so it’ll be my pick for today’s hardest anagram.
Today’s cartoon introduced us to three dragons that appear to be having a family squabble. Dad is frustrated by the fact that he can’t get through to his daughter, and her reponse was that it’s because he never listens. Rather then help the two of them resolve their dispute, mom jumps into the fray and accuses hubby of being full of hot air! The heated exchange between mom and dad made it quite clear where the daughter gets her fiery attitude from. The best part of the cartoon for me was the fire coming out of the their mouths. If you looked closely you could even see little puffs of smoke coming out of their nostrils! Some of the other fun details were their forked tongues, dad’s sideburns and the daughter’s nose piercing
The final solve was an anagram consisting of eight letters. It was one letter longer than yesterday’s, but it ended up being just as easy. FIRE was obvious from the clues in the cartoon, and SPIT was easily sussed from the remainder to seal the deal. On to tomorrow! Until then, be well and enjoy the day.

Immediate thoughts went towards HOTHEAD or BLOWHARD…Nein, nein
Speedily solved anagrams…to derive answer. Think I liked HOTHEAD better, but oh well !! And what a great looking/ performing airplane that Spitfire was!!
Terry? Hothead? Nein, nein! You’re missing the fire for the breeze! Look closer…What’s that coming from our girl’s mouth? She’s the only one, literally SPITTING FIRE! She’s definitely “hocking a loogie” (actually two)… https://tinyurl.com/6mjz9upr as we used to say in Brooklyn! While there may be something akin to bringing the heat coming from the mouths of the parents, it’s solely our girl who’s actually “spitting”….So David’s word choice, and Jeff’s (truly) “graphic” design, are both spot on! (No pun intended)! From that spike-collared throat? From the mouth of that Babe? SPIT FIRE!…Hope you’re enjoying your trip…Be well, and stay safe out there! 🔥🔥🙋🏻♀️
Straight forward today. Took a few more seconds to solve the puzzle but the dialogue led me to it.
Hope all is well and you are not too hot…..
The biggest clue seemed to be the fire coming out of their mouths, but it was subtle and I only noticed it after the solve. I saw FIREPITS in the layout, and it wasn’t a big leap from that to SPITFIRE.
86 and full sun today. We did have some smoke and haze yesterday afternoon from the wildfires in Canada and out west which was pretty wild. No trace of it today though. 🙂
Good Morning, Everyone! I hope this finds you well…
🔥 BRINGING THE HEAT – A DRAGON’S TALE 🔥
🎶 A dragon lives forever, but not so little girls…Painted rings and spiky hair take place of those sweet curls…One gray night it happened, Jennie Paper came no more…And Puff, that mighty dragon, he ceased his fearless roar…🎶 “Puff The Magic Dragon” – (with apologies to) Peter, Paul and Mary 1963 https://tinyurl.com/4mjkmjw3
🐉 The FORUM that we’re seeing here, I think to them is trite,
Who used to be their PERKY girl, is now just hot to fight…
I guess she’s tried to INVITE Dad to see things through her eyes,
But as a Dad of a teen girl? He’s clueless…no surprise…
I think the UTMOST challenge here, though things are looking dire…
Is let a few more years go by…she’ll change, their young SPITFIRE! 🐉
🤷🏻♀️ Considering the UTMOST seriousness of the FORUM, they weren’t sure if they should INVITE that PERKY, SPITFIRE new employee…🤷🏻♀️
🏛 In Ancient Rome the FORUM had become just way too tight,
And Caesar, with his PERKY self had others to INVITE…
So he just built a new one, comfort his UTMOST desire…
And then went on to rock and reign…ole Caesar, that SPITFIRE! 🏛
Heating up so much way out here on the Plains that I am longing for a cartoon with penguins or polar bears rather than dragons. I am not one to Invite trouble and do my Utmost to avoid it, but I will use this Forum to say Perky people in the morning are the pits. Hunkering down in the AC today. Be good or be very careful.
You never know what tomorrow will bring, OO. Jumble Jeff has been imagining some great cartoons lately so you just may get your wish. Enjoy the day! 🙂
TOE-ING THE LINE?…While we await Helen’s take, I wrote this since it lit my fire…🔥🙋🏻♀️
👣 And to Jeff I am giving a nod,
Notice our girl has feet that are shod?
Think that’s what caused the ire,
‘Tween Dad and Spitfire…
Since barefoot’s how both parents plod? 👣
A breath of hot air! My first blind guess was “fireball” but I quickly saw that there were no b’s, a’s or l’s. After solving the fairly easy anagrams, the answer was quickly found.
Good morning. My choice for hardest word is Utmost. I couldn’t come up with it for fifteen minutes or longer and then Bam, the light bulb went off and I got it. The cartoon wasn’t a blind solve but once the letters were down, the answer flew off the paper. Loved your song choice Angela. We have a Peter Paul and Mary on the bocce court and it brings jokes when all three are playing on the court. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
…And are you the Paul? Glad you enjoyed it…it’s such a beautiful old sound…Wishing you stay well and safe too, Brooklyn…Have a good one…🐉🙋🏻♀️
The parents were just DRAG-ing ON
To cool down their hot-headed spawn
But she got hot at the game
And kept breathing flame
Til their resistance was consumed and all gone.
Hi Helen…I like the DRAG..ON! 🙋🏻♀️
🐉 So we’re seeing our young dragon spit,
Teenage angst…obviously doesn’t quit…
But that fire within,
To her parent’s chagrin?
Chalk it up to her tongue being split! 🐉
Yes, and we could drag on all day in this Land o’ Limericks but we’ll douse our poetic flamboyance for the day. It’s now raining here so the water will help.
Here’s hoping the rain doesn’t dampen your spirits! Have a good day, Helen. Be well and stay safe! 🙋🏻♀️
No problem w the anagrams, even utmost, and the cartoon solution, being 1 word, was as quick as a solve. An easy Monday level puzzle on a Tuesday.
Hi all – PERKY took a minute as did UTMOST since the double letter trick didn’t work. From the clue I thought the answer might be SNAPDRAGON, but the letters showed it.
Good wishes to everyone. Nice gender-swap on the song Angela.
“The UTMOST dream of the PERKY cheerleader was to score an INVITE to perform at the FORUM.”
LOL! Tks, Steve, Nice catch! 😉 And “cheers”🍷to that PERKY cheerleader of yours! Have a good one, Steve…🐉🙋🏻♀️
Utmost took me the longest to solve this morning but the cartoon answer was easy. Love the “hot air” crack by Momma Dragon. Great song choice, Angela. Three of the clerks at our local deli are Peter, Paul & Mary. Have a good Tuesday all!
Hi Betty. The dialogue was so great today..And thank you, I’m glad you enjoyed my song. And I think we need to give a Shout🗣Out to all the PP&M’s out there…wherever they may be…Wishing you a great Tuesday, Betty! Enjoy! 🐉🙋🏻♀️
