  1. Good Morning, Everyone…. ☠️ THE PLOT SICKENS! ☠️

🎶 They played the mash, they played the monster mash….The monster mash, it was a GRAVEYARD smash…They played the mash, it caught on in a flash….They played the mash, they played the monster mash…🎶 “Monster Mash” – Bobby Pickett 1962 https://tinyurl.com/o3y2kox

☠️ I’m not a fan of horror films, I never could ADAPT,
But there are those who love them, and they sit and watch enrapt…
There always is a murderer, sometimes a BURLY man,
Or maybe a crazed woman…with a quite sadistic plan
But what we see today shows us that JUSTLY on the screen
A Cemetery sets the tone…dead bodies reign supreme…
A DOMINO effect takes place…seen one, you’ve seen the lot…
Why go into that place at night? It’s all the BURIAL PLOT! ☠️

Halloween…BOO! Or shall I say BOO HOO? Because for all those looking forward to seeing the much-loved Headless Horseman this morning?…Well, what can I say? No Treat. But we may not be completely Tricked…Since even though he’s graced us with his presence the past two years, https://tinyurl.com/y5l7hryq and https://tinyurl.com/yyamfjsh, at Halloween time…within his last ten appearances, more were in months other than October. We’ve seen him during the months of January, March, May and June. A regular man for all Seasons! So let’s not lose our Gourds over it…there’s still hope…

Ok….With our words this morning, we’ve another split decision. While the four are all old favorites, we’ve two repeat anagrams. RUBYL https://tinyurl.com/y4s4e9tg from July of last year, and PAATD https://tinyurl.com/y6kxnogf from this past March 19th. (And you know the drill by now…a listing of each words last appearance is to follow). But as far as the difficulty level today? All treats…The Early Birds had no trouble UNEARTHing them all, and galloped right through to the solve for a perfect photo finish…And with that being said, let’s see what Jeff’s SCARED up for us today…

So…In lieu of our HORSEman, we find ourselves inSTEED in the company of two other men….along with their partners. The two couples are seen, perhaps watching a Halloween Trick Flick, while sitting on a L-shaped sofa…and their expressions run from annoyance, to fear, to whimsy…and back to fear. As I mentioned earlier, not being a fan of the Horror genre, I couldn’t tell you if what they’re watching is patterned after an actual movie, or part of a sEERIEs, but it does have the requisite teenage couple stranded somewhere. And today, the somewhere featured is a Cemetery. And faintly buried in our dialogue is the key to today’s solve. With what’s done being the same “in all these Horror Movies”, the PLOT of todays is true to form…it’s a BURIAL PLOT. Clever, I must say…Not all that DEEP, but still a definite SCARY-tale ending!

And the Eye Candy? The poor SOULS stranded at the Cemetery are sporting red school attire of Jumble High, since they each have a “J” printed on their clothing. The man seen struggling to catch his BREDTH, is trying to scratch his way from a grave marked “Ben Better”. Nice one, Jeff. And his doing so causes our boy to drop his flashlight. But off in the background there’s a name above the Cemetery’s gates. And no matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t make it out for the LIFE of me. And it’s KILLING me too…So if any of you can read it, please write in and let me know. In the meantime, I have the Early Birds working on it also, and if we come up with anything, I’ll definitely keep you GHOSTed..

So, There you have it, Folks, Done. I bid you all a Happy Halloween, a WRAITH and BeGOREah, a Trick or Treat. However you phrase it, it’s all GHOUL with me…Be well, stay safe, and even though we can’t celebrate this year as we have in years past…I’m hoping you all can still HAUNT down some way to enjoy yourselves. ☠️🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♀️ She found it hard to ADAPT to the idea that her BURLY husband insisted on shopping for a BURIAL PLOT, and felt it a JUSTLY thought out move to tell him that she had superstitious fears of it causing a DOMINO effect… 🤷🏻‍♀️

🎾 He being such a BURLY man, ‘twas done the JUSTLY way,
They knew he needed to ADAPT, they gave him room to play…
He might not be a tennis star, but like a DOMINO…
His falling could cause quite a stir…and then…what might follow?
    The bottom line, it’s just a game, a tournament it’s not…
He’ll try his hand…and if he fails…it’s his own BURIAL PLOT! 🎾

  3. Hi Everyone – It was fun remembering “Monster Mash” and watching the video, Angela. I was able to come up with the answer once I gave up on “brutal” and “part.” We’ve opted not to give out Halloween candy this year, but I did manage to purchase some chocolate goodies anyway.

    • Hi Caroline, Good Morning. I’m glad you enjoyed my song choice this morning…I too enjoyed it and the video…I always consider it a TREAT seeing Dick Clark. He was definitely an American icon. And I like your picks of possible solve words… You always impress me with your knack of coming up with such creative choices. Sometimes I think I TRICK myself out of some of the fun by getting the solve first from the cartoon, and then doing the words. Maybe putting that proverbial cart before the HORSE 😉(I just couldn’t resist) isn’t always such a BOOn. But my words may be HALLO…WEENing myself from the habit at this point would probably be a MONSTER of a task! And we’re not doing the traditional holiday either…but I too have been TREATing myself to that chocolate…🍫🍫. I mean, c’mon….what are we animals? 😉 Have a good one, Caroline. Be well, stay warm and safe, and I hope the day TREATS you well. ☠️🙋🏻‍♀️

      • It’s really impressive you can get the answers without doing the words first. Loved your Hallo ween pun.

        • Tks, Caroline. But getting the solve’s not as hard as it seems. There’s so many hints always BURIED within the drawing and the dialogue. And besides, most solves are common idioms, and I’ve always been an IDIOM SAVANT! 😉🙋🏻‍♀️

  4. Good morning. No problem with the words and once I put down the letters for the cartoon answer I took plot as the the second word which easily left burial for the first. You put a big smile on my face for your song choice Angela, don’t think you could have picked a better one. Now that I’m finished I’ll go back and read the rest of your work. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

    • Good Morning, Brooklyn. Isn’t it good to see the BOOtiful sun this morning, after the stretch of GHOUL, gloomy days that we’ve been having? Bad enough we’re practically BURIED indoors as it is…And thank you…I’m happy to hear that I gave you a smile. Here’s to a good day, Paul. Be well, stay warm and safe, and enjoy the sunshine…☠️🙋🏻‍♀️

  5. No trip to watch the twins,so a stay at home weekend. With a real paper in hand, domino got me at first, but then after that unscramble, burial plot was a quick cartoon solution, enjoy the day and don’t be spooked.

    • Good Morning, Professor. Yes, it was pretty much a walk in the park today…despite the walk through the Cemetery! 😉 And here’s hoping you’re not spooked 👏🏻 either! Be well, Prof…and stay safe out there. ☠️🙋🏻‍♀️

  6. Within the past half hour, the news announced that Sir Sean Connery had passed away. Another one of the greats we’re sadly bidding farewell to this year. God speed, Sir. You were a true Gentleman…on and off the screen. 💔🙋🏻‍♀️

  7. Happy Halloween everyone! Each year, Americans purchase nearly 600 million pounds of candy for the spooky holiday. Here’s a list of the top 15 candies distributed on trick-or-treat. Is your favorite cavity-causing confection in the top spot?

    15. Milky Way
    14. Hershey’s Mini Bars (assorted)
    13. Taffy
    12. Butterfingers
    11. Jolly Ranchers
    10. Hershey’s Kisses
    9. Sour Patch Kids
    8. Tootsie Pops
    7. Hot Tamales
    6. Candy Corn
    5. Starburst
    4. Snickers
    3. M&M’s
    2. Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups
    1. Skittles

    • I love all things chocolate but if I have to pick only one, I’m a Hershey’s Kisses kind of gal. Many years ago we went to Hershey Pennsylvania and I just loved the fact that their street lights were shaped like Hershey’s Kisses – my kind of town.

      • That sounds heavenly, Betty!

While shopping at Walmart, I saw strawberry creme filled Hershey Kisses. The little flag said VAMPIRE instead of KISSES. So cute! 🧛‍♂️

And I just looked up the proper name for the little piece of paper that sticks out of the foil. Can you guess what it’s called? Here’s the ANSWER!

    • Mine’s not on the list – Mounds miniatures. Love the dark chocolate and coconut. Number 14 would be my second favorite if it’s the dark chocloate assortment that has Krackel, Special Dark and Mr. Goodbar.

      • …and I’m surprised to see Candy Corn so high on the list. People seem to either love it or hate it.

        • Yes, it is a MAIZEing, isn’t it? 😉But you know how it is when it comes to candy, BABY..RUTH isn’t always in play! 🍫😉🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Excellent picks Steve. My top 3 candy choices are:

        – Any chocolate bar with peanuts
        – NECCO Wafers (no licorice ones!)
        – Cadbury mini eggs

        • Someone, somewhere must like the licorice ones, but I’ve never met them! If they do, they’re probably Dutch (licorice very popular in Holland.)

  8. Here’s a photo that I took a couple of weeks ago while driving to New Jersey. Not too shabby for a one-handed cameraman!

  9. Thought we might have the Headless Horseman today but alas, no. Like Caroline, I first thought of brutal but once I saw plot the cartoon answer fell into place. So I have a calendar that has a thought for the day and today it’s “Ghosts rarely snack at Halloween parties. They’re just there for the boos.” Wishing all of you a Happy Halloween! 🎃

    • LOL! 😂 My kind of calendar! Happy Halloween to you too, Betty! Be well, stay safe, and enjoy the chocolate, my fellow aficionado! 🍫🍫🙋🏻‍♀️

      • I don’t think we’d see that, Steve. Advent calendars are usually more religious. I think they only allow ANGEL Food cake…🎂🙋🏻‍♀️

  10. Strawberry creme filled kisses?? Oh no, not even for Halloween. Though it’s a cute idea, I’m really a chocolate purist. And even though I’ve consume pounds of kisses over the years, I did not know the name of the little tab of paper, Mike. So thank you for enlightening me and I will now have some trivia to share with my family.

    • Maybe someone out there can fill us in on what we’re missing, Betty. 😊
And you’re most welcome for that bit of trivia.

  11. Hi all – DOMINO took a couple of looks, and I hope MOON was anagrammed purposely what with the Halloween full blue moon tonight. PLOT was a given in the answer and from the dialog I thought COMMON PLOT, but had to use the letters to get the correct one.

Don’t forget to turn your clocks back tonight, and change the batteries in your smoke detectors if you usually do it this time of year.

Good wishes and Happy Halloween to everyone. Look up tonight for that full moon chasing Mars, with Jupiter and Saturn on the other side of the sky!

I can’t read the sign either Angela but I thought it might just say “Cemetery.”
Made me laugh with the man of all seasons, and if the “WRAITH and BeGOREah” is evidence that you’ve kissed the Blarney Stone, I’d believe it. 😂

    • There’s that Domino again…So this morning, while I’m trying to finish up the post, I hear Dom, (no pun intended, you know that’s his real name)! 😉humming this…https://tinyurl.com/pmlyvqj. And I had to laugh, because it was starting to play in my head too! In fact, it still is.🎶 And all that you mentioned about tonight? The media’s beating it to death. They’re adding in it being a Saturday night, and the 🎶“bad moon on the rise”🎶 with the election so close…and it’s beginning to sound like a real HORROR story in the making..Let’s hope GHOULer heads (😉) prevail….Cemetery? One would think so, right?…But taking Jeff into consideration? Most likely something a little more GRAPHIC! 😉 And no, I’ve never kissed the Blarney Stone…but I did have a guy named SHAM ROCK my world once! Glad I gave you a laugh, Steve…we can all use one…Be well, stay safe and I hope you can enjoy some chocolate with your craft beer tonight. We attended a virtual class the other night, where they paired all types of chocolate candies with different beers. We only had a few samples here, but suffice to say, the joint was HOPping…And I never realized that there were taste buds I’d never TAPped before. 🍺🍫🙋🏻‍♀️

        • I’ve always thought so too. Well actually, I never really thought about it. I’m not all that much of a beer drinker. But TBT? It was amazing…🍺🙋🏻‍♀️

            • LOL! 👏🏻 Once again, the mediocre minds. That’s the first thing I said to him when I realized what he was humming. (He doesn’t exactly have perfect PITCH..FORK all I know, half the time I’m not sure what song he’s going for)…😉🤷🏻‍♀️

  12. Soooo…Here’s PUMPKIN to talk about…The question remains…Where is Mig? After being so vocal all week about wanting to see the Headless Horseman, has the disappointment SPOOKed him? Has he RIDDEN us off? Is he SADDLEd down with so much to do, that he’s failed to CARVE out a little time for the Jumble today? IDK…But I do hope he checks in with us soon…He’s just been too EERIEly quiet all day…👻🎃🙋🏻‍♀️

  13. Jeff, was this the Evans City Cemetery from Night of the Living Dead? If not, can you please give us a clue as to what it says above the gate?

  14. Love that Bobby Boris song every year at this time. One hit wonder wasn’t it?
The Headless Horseman was missing in action, perhaps tidying up his head for another wild ride. Today’s Jumble did have a good PLOT!
Sean Connery is my favorite James Bond, although each of the others brought something unique to the role. A department head who asked me to speak to his employees introduced ME as being the spitting image of Sir Sean but I think he needed to get glasses………

    • Well..There you are! I was beginning to think that you couldn’t FACE the day, in disappointment… But as far as Bobby Pickett goes, he did have some other recordings, besides a resurgence also with MM. Here, take a read, if you have time. https://tinyurl.com/ycudfejx. And I’m with you, Mig. Connery IS James Bond. As far as the resemblance? You’ve SHAKEN me up a bit…What a STIRring remark! But that department HEAD 😉don’t count. What does your wife think? 😉Hope you’re having a good one, Mig. Be well and stay safe out there. 🍸🙋🏻‍♀️

      • Neither my wife or I think I bear a resemblance to Sean, Angela! Interesting story on Pickett, he seems to have had some fun….
I guess it’s cool that there is one person on earth who thinks I am 007.

        • LOL! Well then…there you have it! I’d say the wife’s opinion carries the weight.😉 But let’s be honest, men and women have very different perceptions of what is or isn’t when it comes to “beauty”. You know, the old ..”in the eye of the beholder” thing. I’m sure for that guy to say it though, there must be something there! And it is cool. People have always told me that I resemble someone in the industry. And while I’ve always appreciated it…I never let it go to my HEAD…😉..(Sorry, I just once again couldn’t resist…I too had my heart set on the Headless Horseman today). C’est last vie…Have a good one, Mig. And I raise a glass to both you and Sir Sean…🍸🙋🏻‍♀️
