CARTOON ANSWER:

WHAT’S THE BEST WAY TO DISPLAY A BACKWARD DRAWING?

ANDWIEFMWOR = IN A WINDOW FRAME

Good morning my friends and happy Wednesday! It’s already the middle of the week, and Guest Jumbler week is in full swing. I didn’t run into any problems with the clue words this morning as they were all immediately visible. It’s a toss up between FEMALE and WORTHY as the most difficult anagram, and I’ll let you decide in the comments section which one was more troublesome.

Moving on to the cartoon, our guest today is Greg Cravens, the creator of The Buckets. His strip isn’t printed in my local newspaper but it looks like one that I’d enjoy reading. The comic centers on a suburban family of five (two parents, two boys, and their grandfather) as well as their family pet named Dogzilla.

In today’s panel, we see young Eddie painting his masterpiece directly on a window while his mother looks on from the other side. Her mouth is covered by the curtain so we’re unable to tell if she’s looking on in shock, anger, or perhaps even smiling. Either way, Eddie, who is covered in paint, will sure have some explaining and cleanup to do!

The final solution required me to write out the clue letters for the solve. With IN and A given to us, the cryptic letter layout left the solution well hidden but not overly difficult to decipher. WINDOW came to mind and was in the letters so I went with it. FRAME was a quick jumble to figure out leaving me with the surprise answer. Have a wonderful Wednesday, and I’ll see you tomorrow! 🙂

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE LITTLE GREEN MAN FROM OUTER SPACE FELT ALONE AND – – –

LAETNEDIA = ALIENATED

Good morning everyone and happy Tuesday! The clue words were a breeze this morning with MINGLE taking just a few seconds more to unscramble. Two of the words contained a “Z” which is unusual as those anagrams solve quickly. With all of the clue words finished, it was off to the cartoon and Guest Jumbler day #2!

Todays cartoon features a panel by Bill Morrison who is the author/illustrator of the comic “Roswell, Little Green Man”. I’m not at all familiar with this comic or it’s creator so some background information can be found here: http://www.graphicnovels.info/?p=27

In this particular cartoon we see a sad looking alien being served some food by a waitress, but the only thing on his mind is his true love who he misses after crash landing on earth. The letter layout for the solution was cryptic and well jumbled but ALIEN was quick to be found. With the leftover letters, ALIENATED came to mind and finished this one off.

We’re off to a great start of Guest Jumbler week, and I can hardly wait for the next Jumble. Have a terrific Tuesday and I’ll see you tomorrow! 👽

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE CITY WAS SAFER BECAUSE OF DICK TRACY’S – – –

WETHCCAMIR = CRIME WATCH

Good Monday morning, my friends. I was super excited when I opened my newspaper to find that it was Guest Jumbler week! For those of you new to the Daily Jumble puzzle, Guest Jumbler week is when our current Jumble Artist, Jeff Knurek, invites various other artists from different comic strips to take over his duties for the week. It’s always a pleasure seeing how they choose to draw the cartoon by using their different characters and settings to broaden our Jumble horizons. Before we delve into today’s piece, we can’t forget those clue words. CHANCE completely baffled me this morning, causing me to dust off my notepad to do some self-jumbling before it became visible. With that being said, it’s my pick for the most difficult anagram of the day.

Moving along to the cartoon, we find out that Joe Stanton is today’s guest artist and he brings us face to face with iconic police detective, Dick Tracy! His 2-Way Wrist Radio is alerting him that another case is ready for his sleuthing skills, so perhaps he’s off to bust Flattop or Breathless Mahoney. The final solution to this puzzle didn’t require you to be a “Dick Tracy”. After writing out the clue letters, WATCH was an instant find followed by CRIME for the finish.

That’s all for today folks! Have a wonderful Monday morning and I’ll see you tomorrow!!! 🕵🏻‍♂️⌚️

Good Morning, Everyone!                  💰 A GoldMEDDLE“💰

🎶 Don’t it always seem to go, That you don’t know what you’ve got till its gone…They’ve paved paradise and put up a parking lot…🎶

💰💰The neighborhoods of yesteryear in time have gone away
Modernization’s what we have in place of it today
Where once had stood a stately home of elegance and grace
Today we’ll find four townhouses have risen in its place.
It didn’t start that SUDDENly, but INWARDly you knew…
Developers were now ASSIGNed to make these bids to you.
The money that was offered often caused one to INHALE
You’d never make such profit with an ordinary sale.
And neighbors became SPLINTered once the first one took the bait
They felt the greed had now determined everybody’s fate.
Development EMBODIED competition all anew
And one by one the stately homes were taken from your view…
The worst part of these multi homes, where one used to exist?
The infrastructure’s still the same…No, that they didn’t fix💰💰

Today’s words might not be new, but these housing developments sure are. You see them going up all over the country. How can our infrastructure HANDLE all this? Along the same VEIN, let’s SIFT right over to the PAN HANDLER. Our cartoon today shows us a developer, trying to entice an old prospector into selling his land. But the RECLUSE sees the developer for the obtuse guy he is. He’s a FOOLS GOLD, I mean a GOLDS FOOL…This sales pitch just ‘ain’t PANNING out! The man’s a RECLUSE…He doesn’t need the money, or any help…He just wants to…”MINEHIS OWN BUSINESS! Well, Straighten Up and PYRITE! This pun is GOLDen! SCRATCH another one off the list, Dave! Ok, eye candy. Hmm. There’s really nothing much to see today. It looks like we may have been given the SHAFT! So, there you have it, Folks! Done!
Have a great day, Everyone! Stay SLUICE, and don’t TARNISH your image! 💰🙋🏻

DEMLOU – MODULE

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE HUMANS FOUND THE ALIENS TO BE VERY SENSIBLE AND – – –

TRATHNOWODE – DOWN TO EARTH

Good Morning, Everyone!         👽 ALIENAND OUT OF SPACE 👽

🎶Two little men in a FLYING SAUCER flew down to Earth one day. Looked to left and right of it, Couldn’t stand the sight of it and said “Let’s fly away”…
They took a look at a Western movie, somebody heard them say, “If a horse can be a star, think how dumb the people are…We’d better fly away…”🎶

👽👽Whatever the attraction, it’s never come across
The allure of Science Fiction’s always had me at a loss
Some have called me NARROW minded, said my thinking’s all off TRACK
But Aliens and spaceships? My imagination lacks…
Whoever HATCHes up these things, begrudge them I do not
It’s just that most of these stories..? I fail to see the plot.
MODULEs to build a saucer that upon the Earth will land?
An alien and earthling with a frisbee in their hands?
To me it’s rather boring, there will never be appeal
I’m contented to keep living life just dealing with what’s real👽👽

Of all today’s words, Module may look a little ALIEN. The others have LANDED on our pages before. Today’s cartoon? Now this is a different story. I had a bit of a problem seeing EYE to EYE with this. I just don’t get it. Jeff’s showing us a LANDing field, and an alien couple with their spaceship. The male alien is speaking with a male human. The female alien is speaking with a little girl and her dog. The male alien mentions music. I’m thinking, what? NEPTUNEs? And the female alien is attracted to the little dog. I’m thinking what, after what happened to PLUTO? And the “men” are talking about throwing a frisbee around. A SAUCER. Ok, maybe that I get. FLYING SAUCER. Still not enough. I just feel that I’m missing something. I mean I get the pun, “DOWN TO EARTH“, but the sensible part? It’s too OUT THERE for me. Nothing here seems sensible, despite Dave’s question. I don’t know…Maybe if I had more time to PLANET. So, eye candy. See the dog? Between the apprehensive look on his face, and the tail that’s not wagging? Hmm. What’s UP with that? That dog SCENTses something…So, that’s it Folks! Done! Or undone…Today, I just ran OUT OF SPACE

Have a great day, Everyone! Live Long and Prosper…👽🙋🏻

UNDOH = HOUND

DALGE = GLADE

KTREMA = MARKET

PNNIKA = NAPKIN

CARTOON ANSWER:

AFTER PAYING TO HAVE AN AMAZING DECK CONSTRUCTED, THE FAMILY – – –

HDADEMTAI = HAD IT MADE

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  After seeing today’s clue words, I’m still impressed with the choices that David has given us.  NAPKIN was the only one that wasn’t immediately visible and required just a few seconds more to figure out.

Moving on to the cartoon, I always try my best to block out the dialogue and “absorb” just the image itself.  Jeff and his wife Kathy are instantly recognizable and it appeared as though they’re enjoying a relaxing day in their backyard.  Reading the dialogue and sentence broadened the cartoon, and we find out that they are enjoying the new deck that they’ve had built.  Jeff is in his glory, sipping an umbrella drink complete with a fruit garnish while basking in the sunshine.  We’ll probably never know what he’s watching on the television, but my guess would be that it’s a baseball game.  While Jeff and his neighbor enjoy their conversation, Kathy is taking a soak in the hot tub and has a very relaxed look on her face.  I’m not sure why she’s in a hot tub on such a warm day, but it does add quite a bit of detail to the cartoon.

The final solution was a quick solve with HAD being the first three letters in the layout.  Once solved, the rest of the solution came instantly.  Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!  🙂

NEGIS = SINGE

LNAFK = FLANK

TCLOHB = BLOTCH

LUNFAT = FLAUNT

CARTOON ANSWER:

HE TOLD THEM THAT HE GREW GREAT COFFEE, BUT HE WAS – – –

SNEFLABOFLU = FULL OF BEANS

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  The clue words have been outstanding so far this week with today’s group continuing the trend.  It’s not that they were overly difficult, instead they were fresh words that were well jumbled.  With that being said, SINGE was the only word to slow me down today.  At first glance I thought it might be “GENUS” but I knew it didn’t have an I in it.  With a little more staring the answer made itself visible and I was off to the cartoon.

I thought the man on the left was sneezing at first, but after reading the dialogue and sentence it was apparent that he was spitting out some really bad brew.  The bean queen has a mean look on her face as she not so subtly reminds the coffee farmer that his lot has already been rejected once.  The laid-back appearance and aura of confidence exuded by the farmer was captured perfectly by Jeff and was my favorite part of the drawing.

The cartoon answer was a quick solve after writing out the clue letters.  OF was my guess for the 2-letter word and FULL came into view next.  BEANS was all that was left to cap off this Jumble gem.  I hope you have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!  😊

PHECR = PERCH

BLAFE = FABLE

RASPIN = SPRAIN

VIRTHE = THRIVE

CARTOON ANSWER:

TO RECEIVE HER GIFTS IN PERSON, SHE NEEDED TO – – –

PEBESRNTE = BE PRESENT

Good Monday morning everyone and welcome back to another week of Jumble fun!  Today’s clue words were excellent and much more challenging than we usually see on a Monday.  FABLE was the only word that wasn’t immediately visible, and it took a minute of staring at it before it finally came into view.  Moving along to the cartoon, we see a birthday celebration taking place with grandma opening a gift.  Reading the dialogue and sentence, we learn that it was actually a surprise party where the guest of honor almost didn’t show.  My favorite detail would definitely be the “Happy Birthday” balloon tied to the back of grandmother’s chair.  Usually a cake would be used to indicate that it’s a birthday so it was nice to see that Jeff used a balloon to mix it up a bit.  Another well placed detail would be the pair of earrings that she previously opened.  They’re quite hard to see in the newspaper drawing so I’ve attached an enlarged picture of them.  The final solution came quickly with no problem whatsoever.  With P being first in the letter layout, PRESENT came to mind instantly, followed by BE for the finish.  Have a wonderful Monday and I’ll see you tomorrow!

BBARSO – ABSORB

COHURS – CHORUS

LOVEMU – VOLUME

DOGPAA – PAGODA

DOYICI – IDIOCY

TYRNDE – TRENDY

The CARTOON ANSWER:

REGARDLESS OF WHICH STREET THEY’RE ON, AMBULANCES HAVE THE RIGHT OF WAY ON THE – – –

ORCRVEAODOYTRE – ROAD TO RECOVERY

Good Morning, Everyone!         🚑 THE RIGHT OF WAYand ….RIGHT AWAY! 🚑

🎶Everytime I see you lookin’ my WAY, Baby, Baby, CAN’T YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT?…In the car..DRIVIN’ down the HIGHWAY…Baby, Baby, CAN’T YOU HEAR MY HEARTBEAT?…🎶

🚑 🏩 The other day while driving, an Ambulance went passed
I always think of who’s inside and a silent prayer I cast
We pulled aside to give access, as the sirens’ VOLUME rose
I closed the window to ABSORB the sound; it unnerves me I suppose.
The IDIOCY of some drivers who kept going just the same
Was met with a CHORUS of shouting as closer it became,
Some people think they’re privileged, the rules just don’t apply
Living in Ivory PAGODAs, while the rest of us comply…
Today it’s seems to be TRENDY, do what may, just come and go
I think these people, should silently pray, that’s it’s no one that they know…🚑🏩

Even though each of today’s words have PASSED BY us before, I think a few of them may have caused a STOP here and there. LOVEMU? I love mu, too! ABSORB, PAGODA and IDIOCY appear to be new anagrams, and all very well done! DRIVEN to distraction? You’re not alone! Our cartoon. Today once again, Jeff has given us a subject that lends itself to SERIOUSness. How frustrating is it to see some people refusing to YIELD the right of WAY to an AMBULANCE? Living in NYC, trust me, we see them. And trust me, we yell out the windows in unison…”Pull over you idiot”…( I think it’s written in the DRIVERS manual we receive…I’ll check…) Anyway, our cartoon shows an AMBULANCE en ROUTE to the hospital, and drivers on both sides pulling over to give it a “clear path”. Also in the dialogue, the female EMT saying …”he can recuperate”. Giving us the…”ROAD TO RECOVERY“! ALL CLEAR, the Guys have done it again! Great pun, like a SHOT in the ARM! Ok, eye candy. Uh, Anybody? No, not today…KEEP IT MOVING FOLKS, NOTHING TO SEE HERE! So, there you have it, Done!
Have a great day, Everyone. 🙋🏻
And to all the EMTs, and Paramedics out there, I hate when you’re called “Ambulance Drivers”. With WAY less pay, and WAY less space to work in, you do the work of an ER…While driving at 70 MPH! I tip my hat to you, in respect…..🚑 💓

LEOLH – HELLO

BAGOLL – GLOBAL

CARTOON ANSWER:

THE GOATS THAT GRAZED ON THE SLOPE WERE – – –

SIEHLLIILBL – “HILL-BILLIES”

Good Morning, Everyone!    🐑 Are We GOATing Through This Again? 🐑

🐑🐑 Ten days ago some Rams were what the Jumble offered us
Today, we see a Fairy Tale, its name “Three Billy Goats Gruff.”
Most fairy tales are GLOBAL, the children’s hearts they win
This one is no exception, for this one is Norwegian.
Since LIVING where no grass was grown, there was no food to eat
The Billy Goats must cross a stream, not such an easy feat…
The hill upon the other side, is calling out “HELLO
So one by one they venture out, it’s where they need to go.
It’s not steep like for SKIERs, that’s not what slows their goal
The problem is that ‘neath the bridge, there lives a hungry troll.
The brothers are determined not to let him get their goat
They each trick him by saying, “Tis more meat ‘neath that ones coat…”
And finally the last goat gets his turn, it’s time to pass
The current comes, he rams the troll who floats off on his A-s! 🐑🐑

So, Guys…Really? What’s the sudden OXcession with Goats? Have you HERD something? Can we HORN in on this…? What? MUTTON to say on the subject? Whatever. Probably just amount to a HILL of beans anyway…

Anyway…today’s words. Once again, old favorites, with SKIER and GLOBAL scrambled enough to get anyone’s GOAT!

STREAM
ing over to our cartoon, we see three BILLY GOATS, a TROLL, and the HILLS. Only these HILLS aren’t 🎶Alive With The Sound of Music…🎶 What you hear here are hunger pangs! Well in the Fairy Tale anyway. Ok, so maybe here not so MULCH! Anyway, Jeff shows us the three GOATS just HOOFing it around. On the HILLS. BILLY GOATS…on the HILLS…Sayin‘ “Ya’ll”?…Wait for it…”HILL-BILLIES“! Well, FLEECE NAVIDAD! Just like in all the stores, it’s Christmas in November! Good  one, David!

So, eye candy. Besides the troll? Oh yeah…You know what’s coming, right? ….🎶TROLLin, TROLLin, TROLLin on the River…!🎶 So, there you have it FolksDone! Have a great day, Everyone!…And don’t let anyone get your GOAT! 🐑🙋🏻

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  All of the clue words were instantly visible this morning except BURROW.  A quick second glance was all that was required and I was off to the cartoon.

My first impression was that some kind of medical procedure was taking place with a doctor and patient.  Reading the dialogue and sentence brought the answer to mind instantly without the need for the clue letters.  I’m on day 3 of instant solves so I hope tomorrow’s game gives me a much needed challenge.

Congratulations to the Houston Astros on their first World Series championship!  It was an excellent year for baseball and if the tv ratings are any indication, viewership of the sport is on the rise.  I hope the enthusiasm will carry over to the next season and beyond.  March 29th can’t come soon enough for me.  Have a terrific Thursday and I’ll see you tomorrow!  🙂

MNUGOOCONDRM = COMMON GROUND

Good morning everyone and happy Wednesday!  And just like that, Halloween and October are gone for the year and the official “holiday season” is now upon us.  It’s time to stow away all of the spooky decorations and decor, and plan and prepare for Thanksgiving and the other big holiday that’s only 54 short days away.  If you’re feeling especially festive, Christmas music begins at 12pm/EST on Sirius satellite radio channel 4.  I’m sure I’ll ask Alexa to tune in at some point later today.  🙂

This mornings puzzle was a piece of cake with only a short pause on CONCUR.  It’s my pick for the most difficult word with MINUS being a close second.

Moving on to the cartoon, the giant “20 Acres For Sale” sign was what caught my eye first.  Reading the dialogue and sentence gave me the answer instantly with no need for help from the clue letters.  The letter layout was well jumbled and very cryptic.  In case you were wondering, the design on the man’s hat and name tag was a little “sprout” of some sort.  Have a wonderful Wednesday and I’ll see you tomorrow!
