FARWE = WAFER

KUYYC = YUCKY

CNERHT = TRENCH

RUWORB = BURROW

CARTOON ANSWER:

HE ATTACHED THE WIRES FOR THE EKG QUICKLY.  HE KNEW THEIR POSITIONS – – –

AEYTHBR = BY HEART

Good morning everyone and happy Thursday!  All of the clue words were instantly visible this morning except BURROW.  A quick second glance was all that was required and I was off to the cartoon.

My first impression was that some kind of medical procedure was taking place with a doctor and patient.  Reading the dialogue and sentence brought the answer to mind instantly without the need for the clue letters.  Iโ€™m on day 3 of instant solves so I hope tomorrowโ€™s game gives me a much needed challenge.

Congratulations to the Houston Astros on their first World Series championship!  It was an excellent year for baseball and if the tv ratings are any indication, viewership of the sport is on the rise.  I hope the enthusiasm will carry over to the next season and beyond.  March 29th canโ€™t come soon enough for me.  Have a terrific Thursday and Iโ€™ll see you tomorrow!  ๐Ÿ™‚

  1. Good morning, Mike. I was doing the same thing this morning. Thinking…Oh, about 105-6 days until Spring Training! Wait’ll next year, right?
    Nice shout out to Houston, after all they’ve been through, they deserve it. โšพ๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  2. ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“My doctor always tells me, “You must remember that
    Eating YUCKY WAFERs full of saturated fat…
    Will only hurt your heart in time, it’s definitely not wise
    Besides the fact that all that fat will end up on your thighs.
    You’ll dig a TRENCH inside you, a BURROW really deep
    So smarten up and find a healthy diet you can keep…”
    These aren’t his exact words, but something close it seems
    (Keep in mind, I had to rhyme the words into the theme…)
    The message here’s a good one, an EKG is smart
    I get mine, by hook or crook, but mostly it’s BY HEART! ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ’“

    None of today’s words were new, and I wasn’t STUCK on any of them. The TEST was getting them to WORK OUT as a poem! It was a bit of a STRAIN, and that’s no FIB! I’ll tell you this, on the QT, I was a little STRESSed, and thought I’d fall FLAT on my face; but I just CALMed down, and decided to call my friend for help. I think I’ve mentioned him before, Eddie King? So I called and said, “E K, GEE I’m STUCK on my poem, the RHYTHMS off. Would you help me”? “It’s 5 o’clock in the morning,” he MURMURed back, “Can’t you BYPASS the poem for one day? ANG,INA still asleep. This is a real INFARCTION on our friendship.” “Uh, the word’s infraction, Eddie”, I said, โ€œBut, thanks anyway, go back to sleep…” So, needless to say, he was no help. Anyway, I realized AORTA do it by myself, and just moved on to the cartoon. Today, Jeff once again, is giving us a HEART-Healthy related PRINT OUT. We see a man getting an EKG, and a TECH, so proficient, that he’s bragging he can “do it with my eyes closed”. He knows it…”BY HEART”! How easy was that? Great job, Guys. You didn’t SKIP a BEAT! Ok, eye candy. Hmm. The bare chest? No, that’s TACHY. The techs’ SPIKEd hair? PUMPs me up a little, but no. And, the ID badge is a nice TOUCH too. But I’m a FLUTTER over the FITBIT on the patients’ wrist. It may look like a watch to the NAKED eye, but I have a Fitbit, and I’m sure that’s what Jeff had in mind….So, there you have it, Folks! Done!
    Have a great day, Everyone! And remember…We need to welcome the UPS and DOWNS in our lives. Without them, we’d be dead…! ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  3. The WW I Doughboy had to BURROW into a deeper TRENCH to escape the shelling but in the digging he lost his last YUCKY WAFER and faced a long, wet, hungry night.

    Easy work with no pen or pencil this Thursday. The weather here reminded me of photos I have seen of conditions in France during World War I and the trench clue word lead to my sentence.

      • Weather here is chilly and damp, rain most of this AM and some yesterday. I should expect this in the fall, but the beautiful October spoiled us/me. Shorter days, less sunshine all are tocsins of what is to come. I don’t really suffer SADS (Seasonal Affective Disorder Syndrome) but definitely feel “down” more in the winter. I’ll be fine and “weather” this.

      • Hey, Earl. It was easy to tell by the tone of your post they you weren’t your usual self today. I’m hoping you feel better as the day goes on. Come Sunday night, I know I’ll be “falling back” into the doldrums, I am affected by SADS. I’m hoping we both weather through. Be well, kind Sir. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  4. Good morning. Angela, youโ€™re hot wired. Props to you. Trench was the hardest of the words. It took an extra two minutes to get. Had to write the lettes down to get the cartoon answer. No problem there either. I had a friendly dollar bet with one of the guys from the bocce club. I let him pick the team for the last game and since he had a bet with Vegas on the Dodgers he took them. Had to gloat as this is the third time I let him pick the team and he lost. He is one of the best players and the trouble is he expresses that fact at times. He had been very helpful teaching me the game. In the beginning I asked a lot of questions. Watch and learn. Daddy taught me well. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good morning, Paul. And thank you very much!
      Hot wired, I like it! And I do get inspired by these CARtoons!
      Your friend gives all new meaning to “A fool and his money are soon parted”. You’re spotting him the team and he’s still at the short end? Well done, my Friend…

      As for the Bocce, your Father taught you well. My Grandfather was a Bocce Master, and he spent endless hours playing RUTHLESS games of Boss and Underboss. He would always tell us…(And I hope I’m getting this right)…”Nel tempo lo studente diventa l’insegnante”. “In time, the student will be the teacher”. He said if we didn’t learn by watching, we didn’t deserve to play!
      PS: I caught your “Stack with bacon and coffee” comment from last night! Very clever!
      Have a great day! ๐Ÿ’“๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿป

  6. Hi, All! Instant solve, easy words even though TRENCH & BURROW made me paws. Oh, wait! That birthday was 2 days ago! LOL

    Loved hearing from you, Mike. Ever since I read your first โ€œGood morningโ€ and โ€œMy friendsโ€ a year & a half ago, I have loved your words. (Loved them then, love them still. Always have, always will.) Enjoy your weekend.

    Steve, I glanced at the picture & thought the results of this test might be going through your computer but upon seeing the paper hanging out of the machine, I wasnโ€™t sure. However, I dedicate this cartoon to you anyway. Thanks, oh computer knowledgeable one, for telling me what, not who, Alexa is. Iโ€™m posting on IOW to you now.

    I mentioned a few days ago that I loved watching Charlie Morton pitch. Last night I had just about given up when there he was, walking to the pitcherโ€™s mound. His dad, Charles โ€œChipโ€ Morton, who was well known in basketball 50 years ago, said that he takes pride in the fact that he never pushed his tall, athletic son to play basketball.

    • Wow, thanks Earl! I didnโ€™t think it was better, just different. I bet with Angela reading and singing to kids at the library โ€” Angela, isnโ€™t there a song about โ€œan old man who had an old sow?โ€
      And Earl, I looked up that word the BBC had about a team โ€œpippingโ€ the other. It seems to mean defeating by a small margin. That didnโ€™t seem to apply to the game, but I think they might have been referring to the fact that the series went the full seven games.
