  1. 🎶Take me out to the Ball game, Take me out with the crowd…🎶

⚾️⚾️ When we were growing up, on any given day
From April through October Baseball would be under way
We’d find a field or sandlot, we’d have a PICKUP game
You could WAGER on who’d be there, it always was the same.
Sometimes we’d try to plan it, get some paper, write a BLURB
And stick it on the fences and the trees along the curb
One time we found a PALLET, like a platform made of wood
We called out “Dibs”…that’s what you did in the old neighborhood.
We dragged that thing onto the field, you should have see the joy
We had a makeshift dugout…seating for the hoi polloi!
Growing up then was so different, nothing like the kids today
You don’t see kids out in the streets on any given day.
Where we would grab our baseball mitts and carry them with us
The kids today grab their iPads and their favorite stylus.
The more things change, the more they stay the same…or so they say
But not with this…I miss Street Ball on any given day…⚾️⚾️

And we didn’t BAWL in the street either. Maybe we ran home and cried there, but NEVER in the street. Good words, good pun. Good job, Dave. Only one question and one thing I’d give a PLAY to for eye candy. Jeff, is that a little girl in the background, or just a boy with long hair? You know who I’m ROOTING for…
So, There you have it Folks, Done! Have a great day, Everyone! ⚾️🙋🏻

Today, being Veteran’s Day, there’s no mere tip of the Baseball cap. My cap is off, out of respect for all our Veterans out there. Past and present. You are men and women who write blank checks to our country, for amounts up to and including your lives. I for one, could never repay the debt we owe you. I salute you.
    God Bless America. 🇺🇸

Freezing here too, but the house is toasty warm! Enjoy your Special Day! 🍷 🙋🏻

  2. The artist won a WAGER when he was the first to respond to the BLURB in the local paper and brought his PALLET to the waterfront in his PICKUP.
Easy solve today after I overcame hesitation about “pickup”. Realised it was correct when I had the solution—great pun Puzzle Makers.
Heartfelt THANK YOU to all those who have served in all branches of the military. Hoping to treat at least one veteran to a free meal today.

  3. Good morning and Happy Veterans Day to all. Especially to those past and present that served in all branches of service. Loved the picture. Brings to mind the movie about female baseball players during WW2. “League Of Their Own” But then again somebody forgot to tell Wilmer Flores of the Mets about that when he thought he was traded and was the last to know. But seeing that on TV just made us love the guy that much more. Today’s puzzle was little trouble. The second cup of coffee got the brain to function better where a second look solved everything. Until tomorrow stay well.

    • Good morning, Paul. Happy Veterans Day to you, Sir!
And Thank you for your service. 🇺🇸
League of Their Own? Do you think that may be a girl in the background?
Flores? He’s ok in my book. Times have changed…Today real men do cry…😉
      Enjoy your Special Day 🇺🇸🙋🏻

Dandelion don’t care about the time
        Dandelion don’t tell no lies
        Dandelion will make you wise
Tell me if she laughs or CRIES
Blow away dandelion, blow away dandelion
Tho’ you’re older now its just the same
You can play this dandelion game”🎵

      • Hmm. Yes, Steve. I know about “when it goes to seed”. I just mentioned white because it’s white in the cartoon. 🙋🏻

  4. Hi all – Only paused at PALLET.

Come on Mike, now let it go –
you can’t play baseball in the snow.
Besides, it’s only 104 days until the first Spring training game (give or take).

Crying about “snacks”?! “Kids these days”! We used to eat those weeds in the lot!

Thank you to Moose and all the other vets who chose to swear an oath to “support and defend the Constitution of the United States”.

  5. Hi, all! Instant solve on the cartoon answer because of a story.

I was young, very opinionated, and newly appointed superintendent of primary dept. at church when I saw a hand-printed paper sign on the nursery door that said “Bawl Room.” Thinking it was inappropriate, I ripped it off & threw it away, but when the lady who had “worked really hard making it” came to me angry, I learned to put more thought into my decisions before taking action.

Back to the cartoon, assuming that Billy made that up, I’d hope Billy the Bully gets his come-uppance for causing tears, but if he relayed true info then I’m wondering where the team moms are.
    Backed into PICKUP and PALLET.

Vets in our family are my dad/Navy, Jerry/Air Force, and oldest grandson Jeremy/Army.

    • Hi Lelia – That’s always good advice in general (think first, try to see things from the other side). Or as one of my favorite sayings goes, “Don’t believe everything you think.”
Hockey report – Toronto hosted Boston last night, and Marleau scored yet another game winning goal in overtime.
Good “Speed Bump” cartoon today. A spirit dumps a pile of catalogs on the couple’s bed, says “I am the ghost of Christmas way too early.”

      Running errands, see you later.

      • Hi, Steve! Thanks for my hockey report. Go Marleau! Hope Auston is doing well, but I’m a little bit confused. Aren’t we also rooting for the Sharks to win the Stanley Cup and not just the Leafs?

Loved the Speed Bump cartoon!! I said to Jerry just yesterday while carrying a foot tall stack of newspaper ads and catalogs to our recycling bin, “Well! It has started already and it’s not even Thanksgiving yet!”

Loved the words in your song “Blow away dandelion.” We had those everywhere in Arkansas and loved to pick them when they were ready to go, hold them to our lips, blow hard, and watch them fly.

Hope you were successful in your errand-running venture. Hasta manana.
