👶 DOUBLE TAKE!
Today’s cartoon shows us a family visit with two twin sisters sitting together on a couch. Across from them is another woman holding a baby, and the conversation turns to how the newborn can tell the sisters apart. Apparently, the little girl has no trouble figuring out who’s who, even if the rest of us might need a little help. Now, which twin is Mom and which one is Auntie? That’s anybody’s guess. But when these two start talking at the same time, things tend to get a little mixed up.

➤ TWO OF A KIND
The twins sitting on the couch have similar hairstyles and outfits, but there are a few differences. The twin on the left has a slightly fuller section of hair near her part. Both wear short-sleeved tops and dark bottoms, but their shoes are noticeably different. The twin on the left also holds a stuffed rabbit wearing a shirt with a flower on it, with a cloth resting across her lap.
➤ BABY ON BOARD
The woman on the right sits on a round ottoman, holding the baby with both hands. She has wavy, shoulder-length hair, a visible stud earring, and a short-sleeved dark top. The baby wears a bow headband and a patterned sleeveless outfit while holding a small ball.
🧠 FINAL SOLVE
The final answer was an 11-letter anagram that solved into a “4 + 1 + 6” layout. Our final puzzle of the workweek turned out to be a real head-scratcher! Reading the cartoon sentence and seeing the twins sitting together had me thinking DUO, TWO, PAIR, and DOUBLE, but nothing was coming together just yet.
With all four clue words solved, the P’s caught my attention and brought PAIR into focus. With A seeming like the logical choice for the middle letter, PHRASE was no trouble to unscramble from the remaining letters to finish this one off. It took a little longer than expected, but it was a nice finishing touch to wrap up our first full week of October solves.
If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our nudges were the dialogue and the cartoon sentence suggesting the twins sometimes spoke at the same time, pointing us toward PARAPHRASE, while the twins themselves gave us PAIR for the wordplay finish.

👀 WORD YOU LOOK AT THAT
(Click phrase to reveal its origin)
GREAT MINDS THINK ALIKE
Meaning: When two people come up with the same idea or say the same thing, often at almost exactly the same time.
You know that moment when two people say the same thing at almost exactly the same time? That’s when someone usually chimes in with “Great minds think alike.”
So where did it come from?
The idea goes back centuries. In 1618, English writer Dabridgcourt Belchier used the old expression “Good wits doe jumpe.” Back then, jump could mean to agree or coincide, so the thought was basically the same: smart people sometimes land on the same idea.
Over the years, different versions appeared before “Great minds think alike” became the familiar phrase we know today. And there’s a sarcastic extension you may have heard: “Great minds think alike, though fools seldom differ.” It’s a funny reminder that agreeing with somebody doesn’t automatically make either person a genius.
