CARTOON ANSWER:

SPEND THE NIGHT

WELCOME BACK,

PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🛎️ Last Resort

Today’s cartoon brings us to a hotel lobby, where a tired family has arrived hoping to find a room after a very long day. The only vacancy left is the presidential suite, and the price is enough to make Dad think twice before handing over his credit card. Mom, however, is far too exhausted to keep searching and is ready to pay whatever it takes for a little rest. At this point, they’ll have to lighten their wallets before they can finally get some sleep.

➤ SUITE TALKER

The hotel clerk has short, rounded hair and is wearing a light sweater with a collar showing, plus a name tag on the left side of her chest with a squiggle line for the name. A small earring is visible in her right ear. She stands behind the reception desk, typing on the keyboard with her right hand while pointing toward the computer screen with her left.

➤ RUNNING ON EMPTY

The family looks completely worn out. Dad is holding out a credit card in his right hand, and the card shows a J-style logo with a squiggle line near the bottom. Mom has flattened hair, an earring in her left ear, and an exhausted expression. The little boy has his head tilted back and is holding a Spider-Man plush toy in his right hand while wearing a backpack. A suitcase is standing beside the desk near the family.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 13-letter anagram that solved into a 5 + 3 + 5 layout. Our Hump Day puzzle was put to rest in seconds. My opening title, LAST RESORT, was where I initially thought this one was headed, but the solved letters quickly ruled that out. I tackled THE first, since it seemed like the obvious three-letter word. With those letters crossed out, NIGHT came next, followed by SPEND, to turn the lights out on this one. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our nudges were Dad handing over his credit card, giving us SPEND, while the exhausted family’s only goal after such a long day was to SPEND THE NIGHT.
