CARTOON ANSWER:

EGGS ACTLY

WELCOME BACK, PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🍳 WHISK TAKER

Today’s cartoon takes us into a kitchen, where a husband is determined to make the perfect omelet by sticking closely to a favorite recipe. As his wife watches from across the counter, she wonders if breakfast is getting a special touch, while he stays focused on following every instruction from the cookbook. With the butter melting, the eggs ready to go, and a plate already waiting on the table, everything is in place for the meal to come together just the way it was planned.

➤ HER QUESTION

The woman has shoulder-length hair with a stud earring visible in her right ear. She’s wearing a V-neck dress and gestures with her right hand while asking if she’s about to get a free-range omelet.

➤ ➤ STEP BY STEP

The cook has short hair, a beard, a T-shirt, and an apron. He holds two eggs in his left hand while his right index finger points to the open recipe book.

➤ KITCHEN DETAILS

A frying pan sits over the front burner of a two-burner stove with a pat of butter melting inside, while a spatula rests nearby. The cookbook contains visible writing that isn’t readable. A carton holds four eggs, with a block of cheese and a carton of cream beside it. In the background is a round dining table with one visible chair, a single daisy in a bud vase, and a dinner plate. Behind the woman is a doorway leading into another room.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was a 9-letter anagram that solved into a 4 + 5 letter solution. My copy of the puzzle appeared to have a possible editing error this morning. The answer was printed as EGGS ACTLY, as two separate words with no quotes or hyphen, where the wordplay answer probably should have appeared that way (“EGGS-ACTLY”.) You may have noticed I showed both versions up in the answer block just to cover all the bases. It didn’t throw me off in the least, though. The answer flowed pretty quickly, and I only paused long enough to make sure I wasn’t missing something. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, our nudges were the woman’s question about a free-range omelet giving us EGGS, while the man’s response about following the recipe step by step gave us EXACTLY, leading to the EGGS ACTLY solution.
