WELCOME BACK
PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🚤 Ahead of Their PIERS

Today’s cartoon puts us on a lakeside deck where a couple’s conversation says everything. This is clearly not their first go-round, and it sounds like they have been stacking properties like game pieces with water views. She is sure it will be rented year round, while he agrees and points to the easy walk to the lake as a feature that practically sells itself. Another pickup, another confident play, another one that feels like it just cannot lose.

🔎 Jumble Jeff’s Jems

➤ ON THE DECK

The woman is wearing a short-sleeved top, with an earring visible in her right ear. She stands on the deck with both hands slightly raised, as if already picturing how the rentals will play out.

➤ POINT TAKEN

The man’s hair is neatly combed from left to right, and he is wearing a collared short-sleeved shirt. His right index finger is extended outward, pointing toward the water.

➤ LAKE LAYOUT

The home appears to be a chalet-style lake house with a sliding glass door leading to the deck and an upper balcony above. A set of steps and a stone pathway lead down toward the water. A dock is visible along with neighboring homes in the distance as well as a couple of ducks coming in for a landing.

🧠 Final Solve

The final answer was a 10-letter anagram that solved into a “5” + 5 layout. Just like the answer, this one felt like a done deal from the start. A quick look at the letter layout had me thinking it would be a repeating answer since both words were 5 letters in length, but that wasn’t the case. With all the words solved, all the talk of the water brought “SHORE” into view, leaving THING to be easily wrung out from what remained. If today’s puzzle slowed you down, the confident tone in their dialogue that it would definitely be rented, along with him pointing out at the lake, were the nudges that brought it all home.

⛱️ Click-To-Reveal Facts*: About Beachfront Homes

➤ Are beachfront homes really more expensive?
Beachfront properties can cost anywhere from 50% to over 100% more than similar homes just a short distance inland. That premium comes from direct water access, unobstructed views, and limited availability, making these properties some of the most in-demand real estate on the market.
SOURCE
➤ Do beachfront homes cost more to maintain?
Salt air, humidity, and constant wind exposure can speed up wear and tear, which means maintenance costs are often significantly higher. Homeowners regularly deal with corrosion, roof damage, and exterior upkeep, sometimes spending thousands more per year compared to inland properties.
SOURCE
➤ Are beachfront homes good rental investments?
High demand for vacation stays means beachfront homes can generate strong rental income, especially during peak seasons. In popular coastal areas, short-term rentals can bring in substantial yearly revenue, but income can fluctuate depending on weather, tourism trends, and seasonal demand.
