CARTOON ANSWER:

“OWL” BY ITSELF
WELCOME BACK
PUZZLE PLAYERS!

🦉 WHO’S THERE

Today’s cartoon takes us into the woods where a pair of bird watchers have just spotted an owl. One admires the sound of the call while the other explains that every species has its own unique voice. Meanwhile, the bird above them stares straight ahead and delivers another confident “WHO.” Judging by its performance, this particular feathered celebrity clearly prefers to handle introductions alone.

➤ THE BIRD WATCHER

The man is wearing a short sleeved T-shirt and a safari style hat. He is holding a camera with a large zoom lens pointed toward the tree branch where the owl is perched.

➤ THE PHONE SPOTTER

The woman is wearing a visor and holding a smartphone in her left hand. The screen shows a picture of the owl. She is looking up toward the branch while referencing the image on the phone.

➤ THE OWL IN THE TREE

The owl is perched on a thick tree branch with clusters of pine needles extending from smaller limbs. The bird faces forward while calling out “WHO.” Additional trees and foliage appear in the background.

🧠 FINAL SOLVE

The final answer was an 11-letter anagram that would solve into a ”3” + 2 + 5 layout. The quotation marks looked a little intimidating at first, but with the OWL being the subject, the obvious three letter word in quotes quickly jumped out. With those letters eliminated, it became easy to pull the remainder into place. If this one gave you trouble, the visual of the owl perched alone on the branch should have steered you in the right direction.
