🦈 MAKO BREAK MOMENT

Today’s cartoon drops us underwater where a pair of sharks are working security outside a casino. We see an octopus drift a little too close, and one of the guards demands to know its business. The poor thing is so nervous it’s leaking ink while insisting it doesn’t want any trouble. Even a couple of fish nearby think the sharks are a bit much. The way those two are grinning, you get the feeling nobody is slipping past them without facing a serious wall of bite.

➤ BADGE AND BITE

In the foreground we see two sharks acting as security guards. Each one is wearing a guard cap with a starfish badge on the front. The starfish have wide open mouths that resemble a shocked expression. Both sharks are grinning with rows of sharp teeth showing. The octopus looks extremely nervous and leaking ink. One of his right tentacles appears to be holding a tissue.

➤ CASINO AND CARD SHARKS

To the right sits a wrecked ship that serves as a casino. A broken mast is visible along with a figurehead mounted on the bow. Above the casino sign is a cannon port in the side of the ship. Through a hole in the hull we see two sharks playing cards at a table.

➤ FISHY OBSERVERS

In the upper left we see a puffer fish and another fish watching the scene unfold. In the surrounding water are additional sharks.

🧠 Final Solve

The final answer was a 15-letter anagram that solved into a 5 + 2 + 3 + 5 layout. One look at those menacing teeth and the answer came instantly to mind. If this one gave you trouble, the tense exchange with the octopus and those rows of teeth on full display made it clear the guards come very well equipped!

Click-To-Reveal Facts*: About Sharks

➤ Do sharks sleep?
Yes, sharks do sleep, but not the way humans do. Many species enter periods of rest where their bodies slow down while they stay aware of their surroundings. Some sharks rest on the seafloor while others keep swimming slowly so water continues moving across their gills.
SOURCE
➤ What smells do sharks dislike?
Sharks are strongly repelled by the scent of decaying shark tissue, sometimes called necromones. Compounds such as copper acetate and substances found in cuttlefish ink can also trigger an avoidance response.
SOURCE
➤ Which colors do sharks avoid?
Sharks tend to ignore darker colors that blend into the water like black, navy, charcoal, or dark gray. Bright or highly reflective colors stand out more in the ocean and are more likely to attract their attention.
