  1. Good Morning, Everyone…🎶HERE’S TO BOB🎶

🎶(Unable to decide which of Jeff’s songs to feature, I’m instead going with a song of Bob Smart’s)…”Found She Was Gone” – Bob Smart 1967  https://tinyurl.com/mrxh7fdw 🎶

🎶 The name of “Bob” on the guitar…quite VIVID you can see, Maybe it holds a FEVER “pitch”…a pun…albeit wee…
(I’m bypassing the STOCKY…I just refuse to judge,
    The same’s going for CANOPY…I tried…it wouldn’t budge)
    Today’s puzzle…an instrument…a special one to wit…
When it comes down to choosing? He’ll def PICK HIS FAVORITE…🎶

Today’s puzzle features musician, (and good friend of Jeff Knurek’s,) Jeff Tweedy,. https://tinyurl.com/bdcrwheu  , seen at the Loft…(Wilco’s warehouse-turned-recording studio, rehearsal space and headquarters), with its manager, Mark Greenberg…surrounded by his vast guitar collection. And if you know anything about guitar playing, you know how important a PICK can be…Not just the physical PICK https://tinyurl.com/242bjn7d  itself, but PICKing the right instrument…And seeing the PICK in Jeff’s hand, set the STAGE for the double meaning of today’s solve. Because if you know anything about Jeff Tweedy, you know that “Bob” is his FAVORITE guitar…So…when choosing? Jeff would usually…PICK HIS FAVORITE …(photo of Jeff playing “Bob” … https://tinyurl.com/jax3p7km )

The quick story behind “Bob” … Bob Smart worked the country circuit in Nashville in the 50’s and 60’s. He was the original owner of the 1957 Gibson J-200, until a shoulder injury forced him to trade it in for a smaller model…Jeff bought the guitar, and amongst his many guitars, Bob became, and remains until this day, his FAVORITE…

So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, and stay safe out there…🎶🙋🏻‍♀️

  2. 🤷🏻‍♂️Always considered a STOCKY man, he sat below his CANOPY trying to PICK HIS FAVORITE photo from the past, and coming across a few brought back VIVID memories of the time as a teenager he suffered through a terrible FEVER where he lost so much weight no one recognized him…🤷🏻‍♂️

🤦🏻‍♂️ The CANOPY had borne the brunt of the storm that swept through,
Too STOCKY to be agile, he’d need help…yes that he knew…
A FEVER of such worry had swept across the town,
And now the damage VIVID…with so many trees blown down…
The power off, he sat inside…warmed by the fire lit…
A list of handymen nearby…he needs to PICK HIS FAVORITE… 🤦🏻‍♂️

  4. Here’s what the Loft manager (Mark Greenberg pictured in the cartoon) has to say about Bob

“MEET BOB”. Here’s a great story about one of Jeff’s most loved guitars, his 1957 Gibson J-200 named Bob due to that name engraved into the ornately decorated upper pickguard.  Jeff has played Bob both in the studio and on tour for years. When it came back from the last tour with a loose brace, we took it over to our friends at Chicago Fret Works for repairs. While looking inside the guitar, the guys at Fret Works came across a hand written note secured to the inside of the guitar that read “Bob Smart” and listed a phone number. Could this be THEE Bob that Bob was named after? A quick google search turned up two Bob Smart guitarists from the past… one who recorded surf music in the 60’s on a French label and one who recorded country music for Nashville’s Tiger label… and the one photo of that second Bob Smart that we found shows Bob holding THIS GUITAR (see the photo of Bob Smart in below comment) before the upper pickguard was added. So now, there was only one thing to do. Call the number! See if there is any way that number still works… see if Bob still resides at that number… see if Bob is even still with us. The phone rings, an older woman answers. “Hi, is Bob there?” “Hold on..” she says and puts down the phone. Wow! “Hello?” “Hi, is this Bob Smart?” “Depends who’s calling.” Ha! We chat for a while. Bob is warm and great to talk with. He tells us he bought the J-200 new in 1958 from Park’s Music, sent it back to Gibson some time after to have the extra personalized pickguard added, and played and loved it for years and years. Sometime in the past 10 years or so, Bob started to have some shoulder pains so he traded this jumbo bodied guitar for a smaller, easier to handle Martin acoustic. Bob told us he played the Nashville circuit for years, including a stint on the Ernest Tubb Midnight Jamboree. We end the call with plans to exchange music. Bob says he may not have any old Tiger records left but has it all on CD. Maybe we’ll post something here. He seemed genuinely giddy to talk about the past and excited for the attention and call. Thanks to the guys at Chicago Fret Works for finding this information and helping us discover the history of one of Jeff’s most prized instruments.”

  5. This week is on a smooth and fun roll ! All the anagrams were there again ! The jumble and being in a band with my brother and another guy ,was right up my alley ! They played acoustic Gibson’s and we did a lot of acoustic harmony tunes and you have to PICK the right guitar to play it and they usually had their FAVORITE ! This was a great jumble going into the week ! A great no/hump Wednesday ! Very detailed and description of the jumble Angela , it was really interesting ! Can’t wait for thirsty-Thursday !!!!!

  6. Though not a guitar aficianado (sp), I really dig music stories from the past such as the one Angela tells today. All so very interesting….a veritable Blast from the Past. Because I PICKed PICK, that was enough to point me in the right direction for a blind solve today. Finished up with easy anagrams for a great Hump-Day Jumble. Thanks for the story, Angela  Terry

  7. Quick solves today, not hard to figure out the guitarist would “pick” his favorite. Enjoyed the story about Jeff Tweedy and his guitar, Bob. Curious, I searched online and found more details, including a photo of “Bob” the guitar. It was a beauty. Thanks for a fun story today, Angels.
