If you looked at today’s puzzle, saw the solve calling for 5 little words, and thought it to be a lost CLAWS…you missed the AORIST for the SEAS. The key to today’s GAME is the simple fact that we see our said Mascot that CAN’T GET UP. 🤦🏻♂️As part of the committee, there was no way he’d THRIVE tonight after having chosen a PIRATE costume and realizing he’d hardly be USEFUL to anyone…so it was hard to stay UPBEAT…one, because his broken toe forced him to wear a SANDAL, two because the costume didn’t allow for much WIGGLE room…and three, having tripped, he couldn’t GET UP IN HIS GETUP…🤦🏻♂️

Well….obviously didn’t put two and two together this morning…i.e. GET UP & GETUP. No blind solve, yet I did solve the first two words. From there, didn’t choose a correct third word (IN) so had trouble coming up with a finishing phrase. Angela…news reports say the Texas heat moving northeastward. So stay cool up there. Lotsa hot asphalt.

Angela, I noticed the lobster costume so checked and it seems there was at one time a world tennis team called the Boston Lobsters, although I hope they did more than just lob. Not a very aggressive name of course, as lobsters usually end up being caught. Definitely wouldn’t do for baseball!
