Hmm..TBT? I’m not sure what to say here. I’ve a family full of teachers, and yes while some days may be more trying than others, this here is definitely not the norm. And waiting until a Parent-Teacher Conference meeting (as noted by the greeting on the board), to address the situation seems way too far-SKETCHED…I mean fetched…But it’s what we’re PRESENTed with today, so I guess we’ll just CHALK it up to the whimsy, and try to LESSON the blow…
So…A classroom, an old-time chalkboard, a young boy, BRAD, a totally disTAUGHT teacher, and a Mom who possibly might not have been PRESENT as much as she needed to be…
Anyway…For me, the key here today was the word SOUND used in both our question and Brad’s dialogue. What came to mind immediately was…”Ugh, that NOISE”…which I think is the reaction most people have when hearing fingernails on a chalkboard. https://tinyurl.com/mry587fz …It has to be one of the most ANNOYing sounds to deal with. And there’s really no way to downGRADE it…it’s without a doubt A NOISE THAT ANNOYS….And the looks on the faces of both the Mom and the teacher coiling in response, the arms held out in exasperation, and the SCRATCHy lines that Jeff’s drawn, were more than enough to seal the SQUEAL…I mean deal…I RAISE MY HAND in a high-five once again to D & J! They’re definitely in a CLASS of their own!
As for the scenario itself? Again, I’m at a loss…While chalkboards are mostly a thing of the past, as far as our puzzle goes, I can’t help but think that if a child was so out of control that a poor teacher is prompted to say that she “can’t get him to stop”…that he’s so DEMONing…I mean demeaning towards authority…well, there should have been a TAUGHTer rein put in place way before today…By this age, Brad should have been SCHOOLed https://tinyurl.com/3heurb6x a long time ago…

I was almost there, but missed the boat. There was no blind solve, though I correctly placed NOISE or NOISES in the puzzle….but which one was it gonna be?? I chose the latter, then came up with ANYONE, which did not go anywhere. Adding insult to injury was missing the word THAT….That might have helped. Hats off to the authors for a clever Sunday puzzle !!
Sunday Funday ! I was a little drained in my thought process ! The anagrams were there , but I did have to look up MANTRA ! The jumble was very close to get ! My first word I wrote down was ANNOYS , but I just couldn’t get the rest of the letters to make sense ! And I really wasn’t Annoyed by it ! I just had a good week and my brain was fried ! I hope everybody has a good day and tomorrow Memorial Day !!!!
The words unscrambled with ease today, but a slight pause at ORNERY. For the answer, I guessed NOISE. With the letters left, I saw THAT, and then ANNOY. Easy, but not a blind solve.
