Good Morning, Everyone…📕 WORDS TO LIVE BY📕
🎶 I want ONE MOMENT IN TIME, when I’m more than I thought I could be…When all of my dreams are a heartbeat away…And THE ANSWERS ARE ALL UP TO ME…Give me one moment in time…When I’m racing with DESTINY…Then in that one moment of time I will feel…I will feel eternity…🎶 …”One Moment In Time” – Whitney Houston 1988 https://tinyurl.com/25v7czhe
📕 Called it “A little project”…but it was so much more,
With words like MONTH and PIGEON, it opened up the doors…
‘Cause Webster knew not to FORBID knowledge to run en masse,
He’d not MINCE words…(pun intended)…he was a man of class
And he knew spelling was a key…he was a strong proponent…
Of offering to others ways to a DEFINING MOMENT! 📕
I doubt it’s a secret that I’ve had an ongoing love affair with words from as far back as I can remember…So, as a child, getting my very first dictionary was a thrill…And as far as words go…things have been LOOKING UP ever since…
Connecticut, 1806….And today’s man of the power…Noah Webster… https://tinyurl.com/3jat36bx Shown here with his wife, Rebecca, Mother of his eight children, and perhaps Alexander Hamilton, a confidant. Noah, having already achieved acclaim as a writer and a teacher, decided to publish a dictionary, his first, a compilation of word DEFINITIONS…And it was a special time…as we can gather from the dialogue of our secondary characters …It was a DEFINING MOMENT …. https://tinyurl.com/ncjakhrm Well done, David…but no need to SPELL this one out for us…
…And if you look closely, you can see the title on the cover of that first Dictionary …”American Dictionary of the English Language” … https://tinyurl.com/vx3avc4e
So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…And as I’m sure many of you may know, this was just the beginning for Webster’s Dictionary. https://tinyurl.com/37shuwtj There’s quite a story behind Mr Webster…and the whys and wherefores leading up to his publication…way too much for me to get into here…Should you be interested, read the articles I’ve included…He led quite the DEFINING life…📕🙋🏻♀️

🛑 After having labored for a MONTH getting his PIGEON flock banded, he didn’t MINCE words making it clear that he FORBID anyone from interfering with his DEFINING MOMENT…🛑
❌ They labeled him a stool PIGEON, and FORBID him to join,
With them when every MONTH they met…afraid that he’d purloin…
The secrets that were dear to them, they’d not MINCE every step,
To them things were held sacred…they’d no way besmirch their rep
Their minds made up, they moved forward, with no chance to lament…
Expulsion was agreed upon…hence this DEFINING MOMENT…❌
A better way to end and cap the weekend than yesterday’s ! I got all the anagrams very well ! The jumble was a little tricky ! I pulled out MOMENT and then I thought it was a FINDING MOMENT , but there was an E left ! I said “what”so another shorter word for definition is DEFINE and then DEFINING MOMENT was there and the E found a home ! Great way to cap off the week ! And the information about Webster dictionary was very good Angela ! Everybody have a great defining day !!!!
Tks, Jim 📕🙋🏻♀️
Yes, it’s not very hard to define
What Webster did for all time
To speak and write better
He spelled out every letter
And today you can get it online!
Was one drink short of a six-pack this morning. Somehow, I thought of MOMENT…and even the word “definition” came into play while I was musing over possible words. I just didn’t put the ING into play. Nice song !! And I, too, will read up about NOAH very soon.
Tks, Terry📕🙋🏻♀️
Count me in as well,w a clean sweep of the anagrams as well as the cartoon.Happy Memorial Day weekend to one and all!
PIGION took a while. For the answer, I saw -ING, -MENT, AND DEFINE, but it took a while to put it all together. Not as hard as the last two days, but not easy.
Clean sweep today. Happy Memorial Day Weekend all!
We need to make the jumble answers bigger
Dale…I’m not sure I’m following you. What do you mean by bigger? Can you elaborate a bit? 🤷🏻♀️
