You know when you AWAKEN that you’ll DITCH these crazy scenes,
A card game, a CANARY, and a stint in the Marines…
But right now in this deepest sleep…these thoughts…the whole nine yards..
Are subconsciously mingling in there with the three FACE CARDS!👸🏻🤴🏻
I’m not sure why this puzzle made me think of dreams…but it did. Maybe because dreams can be so strange at times…you wake up feeling like you’ve been DEALT a blow to the head…But thankfully, they’re just dreams…and if you can’t figure them out? Well…let the CHIPS fall where they may…But I digress…
So today, we see a man holding what are called the FACE CARDS… https://tinyurl.com/3s45rzea (Which is why David named them in his question…and why the solve isn’t Card Faces)…The cards are talking. I mean, let’s FACE it, stranger things have happened in these puzzles. David and Jeff’s use of anthropomorphic characters has become Human Nature…I mean second nature by now. And Jeff’s definitely DRAWn some PIPS over the years…He’s such a CARD!….So today’s no exception…What is exceptional though, IMO, is the dialogue. It’s hilariously SPOT on…We have the King blowing his own horn, SCEPTER Queen is REIGNing on his parade, and cutting him down to size…Kind of just as in life…they make quite a PAIR!
…And then we have the Jack. And HEIRS where it gets interesting…to me at least. The Jack in a deck of cards isn’t a Joker…The Joker🃏is the Joker. But in history, it’s said that the Jack of Hearts card originally came about from the meaning of Jester…which is a Joker. Only what we have here is a Jack of Clubs, not Hearts…Hmm…perhaps no DEAL with that train of thought…But then, there’s Jack Napier… https://tinyurl.com/3828nty2 the psychopathic villain from Batman…who after falling into a vat of chemicals is disfigured and becomes the Joker. Could that be what the reference is?…I just can’t help but wonder what’s in Jeff’s head. (You know, like “What’s in Ned’s Head”…the game Jeff invented years ago https://tinyurl.com/yh53e8kc )…Anyway…I just realized that none of you signed up for this. You just stopped by to PLAY the Jumble…and you’ve fallen victim to the WILD CARD…I mean the wildness that goes on in my head! And by now you’re probably thinking…”What’s the DEAL with all this TALKING…hit the road, JACK”…So, if you’ve stopped reading right after the FACE CARDS solve…and KNAVE-er cared to HEIR all this…it’s cool. Another blind solve day…and not too surprising, given that the picture showed CARDS and FACES. And that was my answer, along with pretty easy anagrams to solve. But after reading Angela’s post…am thinking it really should have been the other way around. I mean, actually, the FACES were doing the talking…No?? Am thinking it could go either way, depending on the question. Yes, Angela…we always love your interesting postings…and CARDS are no exception.
LOL! Tks, Terry. The solve? I suppose it is sort of questionable, but since they’re known as Face Cards, it seems the more fitting of the two. Funny how the number of letters to the words are so interchangeable though…It might be a point of contention today…But as I’ve said before…I don’t make the news, I just report it! Wow ! What a way to end a week ! I could be playing Poker , Ucher , or Crazy eights and I would be a winner with the FACE CARDS ! What a great fun jumble ! No problem with anagrams or the jumble ! It completed a perfect weekend ! I’m on cloud nine ! And Angela , a very thorough and interesting comment and the song was memorable! Good morning. Today was probably the shortest time of all for a solve. The blind solve was automatic. No real satisfaction here because I felt like it was 101 for dummies. To me the solution is CARD FACES, not FACE CARDS. To me FACE CARDS is the shadow solution. FACE CARDS says that the jack, queen and king are separate from these playing cards. To me they ARE these cards. They talk with the mouths on their faces. Mouths talk, not cards.
Not a card player here either but did come up with the proper answer without difficulty but can see how either face cards or card faces could work. Happy Saturday all!
