  1. Good Morning, Everyone…I hope this finds you well…
    👑🎶IT’S REIGNING YEN *…AND POUNDS…AND PENCE…🎶👑

🎶 Let me tell you how it will be…There’s one for you, nineteen for me…’Cause I’m the TAXMAN…Yeah, I’m the TAXMAN…🎶 “Taxman” – The Beatles 1966 https://tinyurl.com/bdkcxu4b

👑A statement that may lack in POISE, but he’s made his wishes known,
And GRIMLY subjects hear it…they obey…but surely groan…
It’s more green that the King calls for, “IGUANA get more dough”…
(There’s no way it was going to fit…so pun’s the way to go)…
And FLOSS for those who may not know, is showing off, in slang,
    Especially about one’s wealth…so here a bell it rang…
But today’s theme, the bottom line… is definitely de rigueur…
The King demands more money…he’s quite the IMPOSING FIGURE!👑

Ok…Here’s the deal. You may have glanced at the puzzle as I did, read the dialogue, and the solve immediately hit you right in the CROWN. But if it didn’t…let’s break it down…IMPOSING…a lot of definitions: Grand in appearance…which the King is, and that’s backed up by the dialogue, “He means business”… “He is the King”…(I guess that guy wasn’t THRONE at all by the news)…IMPOSE: Force, require, exert control over. Establish or apply as a charge…Again our dialogue…”I demand 20% more”…”Your wish is my command” …And of course then there’s Kings being FIGURE heads…plus taxes and liens being “FIGUREs”…Not to mention, that with our question ending in “an”…you knew our first word would start with a vowel… So, put it all together? There’s so many ways this one ADDS UP…You can’t be intimidated by nor TAX your brain with those 14 little circles…It’s always there Folks…Between the dialogue and the cartoon? Worth its weight in GOLD! The King was an IMPOSING FIGURE…And with this one we REIGN supreme!

And the two buzzards atop the King’s throne? …Fitting…

So…There you have it Folks, Done! Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and PAY it forward whenever you can…it’s a nice way to part with money…👑🙋🏻‍♀️

Please Note: …In light of Queen Elizabeth’s passing yesterday, please don’t take today’s puzzle as being insensitive or disrespectful in any way. Granted, the timing is terribly awkward, but know that these puzzles are submitted for publication six weeks in advance…and it’s just an unfortunate coincidence. Rest In Peace and Power, Queen Elizabeth…you were always the epitome of dignity and grace.👑🙏🏻

  3. 🐊 To her, the IGUANA was a rather IMPOSING FIGURE and she GRIMLY looked at it with little POISE…while for some strange reason thinking of a silkworm’s FLOSS…🐊

🤦🏻‍♂️ He couldn’t help but groan again, not GRIMLY at the pun,
“IGUANA hold your hand” by now had definitely ran its run…
Between that and his malaprops his Father always joked,
There was no POISE with this man…always laughing as he spoke…
You FLOSS your teeth he makes a joke… most words he will configure…
One can’t help but describe him as a most IMPOSING FIGURE! 🤦🏻‍♂️

  4. Good morning ! I tried to keep my POISE , but apparently I didn’t FLOSS ! I flinched a little GRIMLY but got it ! But I was bitten by the IGUANA ! Well it’s Friday and I’ll have to wait till tomorrow to cap the week ! Today’s jumble was not an easy one ! I had to IMPOSE on the answer FIGURE ! Great song choice ! I always like the Beatles ! Have a great Friday and have fun !!!!

  5. Hi Everyone – When I saw Reign in the letters, I wrongly thought it would be part of the answer. What helped me finally get the answer was knowing, as Angela said, that the first word had to begin with a vowel and trying the common ING ending.

    • Well, like Carolyn…tried seeing words with starting vowel.. and also ending with ING.

Anyway, that didn’t work, so speedily untangled anagrams… and away I went. Pretty simple after that !!

Will listen to song now. Happy TGIF. and RIP Queen Elizabeth.

  6. Interesting that the French word for taxes is “impôts” where the circumflex above the “o” takes the place of a long-lost “s.” Similar in Italian Angela?

It’s one of the well-known facts
That monarchs used to impose tax
While some groaned and paid up
    Others tried to disrupt
And refused to pay to the max!

  7. Good morning. I’m giving myself a gold star because I was able to finish both parts of jumble today. The words were pretty easy but the cartoon answer was much harder. Wish I knew your ditty Angela about a vowel starting with the word following an. English wasn’t my strong suit, daydreaming was. But alas, I had ing for the ending of the first word and did figure, figure for the second word. The rest followed for a brief moment of pure pleasure. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.

  8. Unhappy Friday got the anagrams even iguana but was stumped big time by the cartoon puzzle despite having all the letters and a real paper newspaper to work with.
