Good Morning, Everyone…🎭 ALL THE WORLD’S A STAGE 🎭
🎶 I don’t wanna PLAY IN YOUR YARD…if you can’t be good to me…🎶 “I Don’t Want to Play in Your Yard” – Miss Peggy Lee 1958 https://tinyurl.com/4avxduhd
🎭 The kids were acting up again, they caused a small UPROAR,
Our Mother looked upon it in DIMLY fashion…for sure…
Her kitchen busy, while she cooked, she couldn’t take the noise,
She’d spilled CANOLA oil…and it’s all fault of the boys…
Now dealing with a YUCKY mess…and pots of scorched Swiss chard…
She told the four to go outside…and just PLAY IN THE YARD…🎭
Nothing like having four kids underfoot while trying to prepare for a dinner party…And this poor harried Mom’s reached her boiling point…pretty much like the Swiss chard…
Ok. So…Three little boys, one still a toddler with a pacifier and a blankie, and a precocious little girl, (with her PLAYbook open to “Act 3”)…And after being sent outside to PLAY IN THE YARD…they took it up a literal notch…and did just that…Put on a PLAY IN THE YARD…But the reference to a Chief, a pig and having the conch allowing permission to speak? Plus the eye black and makeshift head on the yardstick?… Are these kids re-enacting Golding’s “Lord of the Flies”? https://tinyurl.com/2p8m5wks Uh..Beelzebub? It sure looks that way…And I guess that explains why Mom, in her Poi T-Shirt and her finger to her lip, is now questioning her decision to send them outside…Poor Mom…she’s definitely SCENE better days…And Dad, holding a ticket reading “Admit One-Seat 1”? I figure he just got home…and has no clue…
So, with two camp chairs set up beside the blanket, I guess Mom’s in Seat 2… And as for the Gnome with the rake? I have my thoughts…but at this point I may just be going around in RINGS…I mean circles…so I’ve just decided not to PLAY around with this puzzle anymore…
So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and seeing how time FLIES…here’s to hoping we all get to find some time to PLAY…🎭 🙋🏻♀️

🤦🏻♀️ After the UPROAR, she sent the kids to PLAY IN THE YARD, and set out to clean up the YUCKY mess left by the burnt CANOLA oil…DIMLY disguising her resentment…🤦🏻♀️
🤷🏻♀️Trying to cook in the DIMLY lit room, the word YUCKY is what came to mind,
The CANOLA, the spice…the right pots and pans…there’s nothing she’s able to find…
Sensing UPROAR arising within her…she decided the meal to discard…
Opted for a break…so she joined the kids…and went to go PLAY IN THE YARD! 🤷🏻♀️
Fun J that took me a little longer than usual. Still fun!
Good morning thirsty-Thursday ! Todays jumble made me very thirsty for a anagram hat , cause I had trouble with three of them ! One , I thought was Mildy, thinking of Mildly , but then I went DIMLY ! Two , I had an UPROAR , cause it just didn’t come ! And three , I didn’t even know what CANOLA was ! So I had a Granola bar to ease the pain ! Needless to say , I got YUCKY ! Now the jumble had me acting like a movie-star cause I had a PLAY IN THE YARD ! Whew ! What a jumble ! I hope everyone has a nice Thursday and have a thirst quencher to calm down tomorrow’s anagrams !!!!!
🤦🏻♀️ They were playing around in the house,
Those loud kid games like cat catching mouse…
And Mom had had enough,
And gotten a tad gruff…
Couldn’t help it…she began to grouse…🤦🏻♀️
🤷🏻♀️ She had dinner that she’d need to fix,
Boisterous children didn’t fit the mix…
Her meal taking a plunge,
The noise she’d need expunge…
So she’d need the kids to hit the bricks…🤷🏻♀️
🎭 Told the four kids to take it outside,
At this point with her patience quite tried…
And they thought they would wage,
Their efforts on a stage…
Took a playbook to use as a guide…🎭
🤷🏻♀️ Looks like “Lord of the Flies” was their choice,
A play that offers up quite a voice…
And so gathered their props,
They pulled out all the stops…
But I don’t think that Mom will rejoice…🤷🏻♀️
🤞🏻Wonder if the day did turn out well,
Or did everything just turn to hell…
Four kids can get quite tough,
And enough is enough…
But let’s hope all dissension did quell! 🤞🏻
Out of the starting gates, guessed PLAY IN THE PARK, close enough for honorable mention. Then went after the anagrams and puzzled with CANOLA, but that finally came to me, along with the final puzzle word…YARD. Am pretty well versed in Peggy Lee’s song catalogue, but somehow missed this particular song…Very apt choice (don’t know many songs using that particular phrase !! ) BTW, she even goes back to being one of Benny Goodman’s singers…and has a few song compositions to her credit….anyway, nice choice, Angela. Now waiting for TGIF and grandparent’s day at school.
Tks, Terry! 🎭🙋🏻♀️
Canola, like Cashew yesterday, are two words that seem to give me some trouble every time. I had to back into both. Wishing all a good day and better weather for those facing extreme conditions.
Yes Angela, Lord of the Flies sprang to mind when I read the dialogue, not a great choice for a play in the yard.
These four siblings are finding it hard
To put on a play in the yard
They all want to direct
And the play might be wrecked
And we won’t be sure just who starred!
It’s definitely not “child’s play”! 🙋🏻♀️
Indeed! Lord of the Flies, a heavy-duty novel, depicting the descent of people (youth in this case) to very base behaviour.
Good morning. Todays words made you think a little which is a good thing because it doesn’t make you feel like the puzzle is for dummies. No blind solve though but a quick finish. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
Canola gave me reason to pause and Y’s were plentiful in the cartoon solution, but seeing play as 1 of the 4 letter words, play in the yard was a quick solve. I’ve been fretting over the delivery of my papers, which had been arriving early between 6-7 in the morning, but the Sunday delivery was after 9 and yesterday’s after 9:30, so today’s was at 4:30! Yikes! Go figure.
Hope all Jumblers are doing great and weather in your area is beautiful ! I had a little trouble with today’s puzzle, for example, I had mildly for the correct word “DIMLY”, but the “PLAY IN THE YARD” was a reminder of all the many plays I directed in my community ! There was an “UPROAR” since my spaghetti turned out “YUCKY” when I forgot to use “CANOLA” oil ! Will never happen again – now my spaghetti is Great ! Until tomorrow – everyone have a sunny day !🌞
Easy breezy Thursday puzzle. Too hot to play in the yard in California as we’re still cookin. Apparently one more day of this heat wave is predicted. Listening for the fog horns which will be music to ears. 🌁. Happy Thursday all!
This ole 102yr lady did it again got it all yea EL no problem j
God bless, Miss Eleanor. Be well…🙋🏻♀️
