Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…
🔍 AN DER SUN’s NOT GONNA SHINE ON HER 🔍
🎶 Somebody else is TAKING MY PLACE…Little you know the price that I have paid, little you care for vows that you made…My heart is aching, soon will be breaking …For somebody’s TAKING MY PLACE…🎶 “Somebody Else is Taking My Place” – Benny Goodman with Peggy Lee 1942 https://tinyurl.com/ddzwfjzu
🔍 The set of figurines are gone, known as the “COBALT Two”,
A PIGLET and its Farmer, well known for their color blue…
The safe is opened so we SENSE an inside job at hand,
And Anderson is thinking if she cracks this one how grand…
But does Columbo foil her…and force her just to WATCH?
She so wanted to solve this one …gain another belt notch…
What will be done…a mystery…Will our Pepper lose face?
If it appears she dropped the ball…when it WASN’T THE CASE? 🔍
So…Los Angeles, CA, circa ‘74-‘75. And we see Angie Dickinson…as Detective Pepper Anderson in the TV show, “Police Woman” https://tinyurl.com/bdcpr2tn …arriving at the scene of a robbery, hoping to work the CASE, only to be upSTAGEd by Peter Falk, in his role as “Columbo”. https://tinyurl.com/ksu9hcze And it’s definitely vintage TV Detective Day today! …”And just one more thing”…While they both worked for the LAPD, with “PW” airing on NBC, and “Columbo” on ABC, I’m not sure that they ever crossed paths…But hey…Jeff can DRAW a bead on this CASE if he wants! Bottom line? The real mystery here today wasn’t the solve…Nope, that WASN’T THE CASE at all. No WRINKLE there…I cracked that wide open at first glance…For me the real mystery was identifying the characters…now that called for some SLEUTING…But…*
And the Gems of today’s puzzle? It seems there’s a few…but a lot may very well be mere speculation on my part…Just like Jeff’s game, “What’s in Ned’s Head”, https://tinyurl.com/39zde28z sometimes I find myself playing…”What’s in Jeff’s Head”…but here goes…There looks to be a handgun on Pepper’s badge…and in the promos for the show she was often pictured with one… https://tinyurl.com/2k5y4924 Colombo has his signature cigar showing in his signature raincoat pocket. The painting that was covering the wall safe is a portrait of Jeff Tweedy, https://tinyurl.com/3vzf4f4z Jeff’s friend and lead singer of the band Wilco. Jeff’s titled the painting “Lord Tweedy”, and has JT dressed in period clothing. He’s seen standing before his Seeburg Jukebox, guitar before him, Chicago skyline behind. The Lord part? I’m not sure…But, JT did write a song, “Only the LORD Knows”,….But what JT has to do with TV Detectives? IDK! And on that note…Who knows?….This could all just boil down to…”What’s in Angela’s Head”! …but it’s always a fun ride guessing…
So…There you have it, Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe ..and here’s to sleuthing…fact or fiction…🔍🙋🏻♀️

Well , good morning Saturday weekend ! The anagrams gave me a SENSE of fun jumble ! So I had to WATCH that I didn’t get a COBALT for the one anagram PIGLET ! I kind of oinked that one , but I did get the jumble ! WAS and CASE left NT and that was connected to WASNT THE CASE with the apostrophe ! Great way to end the week with a fun fun jumble ! Everyone have a great Saturday !!!!
But how does one get a Cobalt? 😉🤷🏻♀️
I know , just a chemical reaction to not seeing PIGLET !
May I offer a suggestion, Jim? Two-syllable words are great for two-word puns. What I saw was “So I had to WATCH that I didn’t COBALT while trying to solve that one anagram, PIGLET!” Be well & take care.
Mike…Didn’t cobalt? 😉🤷🏻♀️
🤚🏻 Today is INTERNATIONAL LEFT HANDERS DAY…And I hate how most people don’t seem to respect us left-handed people…It’s just not right..🤚🏻🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/5fk2eyz9
Happy Left Handers Day, Miss Angela. 🫲. My sister is left handed. I send her a card with a lottery ticket in it every August 13th. Celebrate !
Thank you very much, Miss Betty. 🤚🏻 You’re definitely a very caring sister. And you know I thought of you both this morning with a piglet in the puzzle! …And yes, celebrating is definitely the right thing to do today…no pun intended! 😂🙋🏻♀️
Such a nice leisurely Saturday morning for a blind solve….it always helps when a phrase or contraction appears, with which to ease our burdens. Wonderful Jumble Gems you told us about, Angela. Marsha saw the Columbo figure, but I missed that…along with the Angie Dickenson character. Most importantly, I am left handed and former Jr. Hi. clarinetist….Was really into the Big Band Sound during the late 60’s and BG was one of my favorites.
Tks, Terry. The Big Bands were amazing sounds. I’m a total sucker for horns..🎶🙋🏻♀️
Often better at cracking a case
Female detectives, a fairly new race
Can connect all the dots
But when calling the shots
It’s the men who don’t want to lose face!
An online site I accessed this morning left out the apostrophe from the first word, but a second source had the apostrophe . I was a big Angie Dickenson fan in her police show.
Professor, I think it pays to stick with the Chicago Trib site. 🙋🏻♀️
Using the USA Today online version I ran into a problem. I had 9 letters and 10 spaces. There was no apostrophe or any way to insert one. When I selected the Solve function, it just dumped all the letters into the spaces in the order they had been previously with an empty space at the end.
Maybe this was just a random problem unique to me. Did anyone else have it?
Yes on my online version, same problem an extra blank space and no apostrophe.
Ray..I’ve never used that site, so I can’t speak on it. But it sounds like it was an error with them alone. Here’s the link to my local paper, the NY Daily News, which is part of the Tribune group. There wasn’t an problem there. 🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/2p8uc2uj
It doesn’t make Sense to Watch a Piglet ingest Cobalt!
This ole lady GOT words and ans no problem EL 102yrs
God bless, Miss Eleanor! 👏🏻👏🏻! 🙋🏻♀️
Easy solve this morning. I’m thinking of Sherlock Hemlock a character from Sesame Street who usually found out he was the culprit in the crimes he was solving. He would shout “Egad”! Wishing all of you a good day.
Good Morning, Everyone. I hope this finds you well…
