Good Morning, Everyone…. 🦅 ON A WING…AND A PRAYER? 🦅
🎶 All of his DAYS have gone soft and CLOUDY, all of his dreams have gone dry…Life in the city can make you crazy, the sounds of the sand and the sea (I’m of the sea)…Life in a high-rise can make you hungry for things that you can’t even see…FLY AWAY…FLY AWAY…FLY AWAY…🎶 “Fly Away” – John Denver 1975 https://tinyurl.com/yubnz4fb
🦅 We hear about how Eagles fly, but never hear of this,
An Eagle prone to WORRY ‘cause he’s lost his daily bliss…
He’s GOTTEN injured, and right now AFOOT things just won’t be,
He heard a SWOOSH sound and realized there’s no way he could flee…
He can’t go see the kids now..he needs a real quick cure…
To mend his muscle because now he’s just TOO SORE TO SOAR! 🦅
I guess it was a crooked SWOOP-he-do…or did…CLAWS it seems like last night’s dinner…whatever it was that sPIKEd his interest…has him now CARPing…”For heaven’s HAKE..I can’t WING it…I’m FINished”!… And it looks like the kids won’t PISCINE today…
So…Adler and Earna Eagle, with their nest on the ground. Knowing eagles like wooded areas near water, I’d say from the looks of our cartoon that they’ve found the perfect spot. N’EST-ce pas? And with Adler having the wind taken out of his SAILs, it’s probably the best thing…EASIER for him… And speaking of…As far as our solve goes? Ditto…Another easy, breezy…lemon-squeezy…(Sorry, I couldn’t resist…I love lemon-squeezy on my fish) puzzle. You think of Eagles, you think of SOARing…You think of pulling a muscle…(God, how I love mussels too…OK…ok, I need to stop…I think I’m getting a little SHELLfish here with my afFINity for seafood)…AnyCRAY…Pulled muscle…he’s SORE….i.e….can’t SOAR…The end result? MINNOW you’ve got this…The Eagle was TOO SORE TO SOAR! And let’s be honest, Folks…this one LANDED in our laps with one FELL SWOOP…
So…There you have it Folks…Done. Have a good one. Be well, be kind, stay safe…and FOOD for thought…Maybe next time Adler should pay closer attention to what he’s doing. I mean we’re all aware of the term EAGLE EYE…But here it seems more a case of…Eagle EYE YI YI! …No? Hmm…Well, if you can think of a BETTA pun, I’m SOAR you’ll let me know…🦅🙋🏻♀️
I STAND WITH UKRAINE 💔🇺🇦
…AND I STAND FOR REFORM IN AMERICA 💔🇺🇸
my newspaper printed the 3rd word as “msseea” (Winnipeg Free Press). No wonder why I couldn’t couldn’t get the final answer.
Arlene…Scroll down and read the comments. You’re not alone .

I has same problem with my newspaper — third word was sesame not swoosh and only 12 letters circled while answer required 13 letters. Sloppy work somewhere!
They put wrong word in as I had msseea or sesame in the paper and should have bin swoosh pretty hard to solve with wrong words!!!

OWSSHO – New
The word swoosh was not on my jumble today. Instead the word sesame was used?
Yes, we’re all aware of it…Scroll down and read the previous comments. 🙋🏻♀️
🤦🏻♀️ After wrenching her back, and with all the children AFOOT, she began to WORRY when she heard a SWOOSH sound coming from the other room…and wondered what they had GOTTEN into now…only realizing that she was just TOO SORE TO SOAR in there…🤦🏻♀️
🤦🏻♂️ He didn’t want to WORRY, but when he heard that loud SWOOSH,
He had an eerie feeling something lurked within that bush…
Maybe he’d GOTTEN too close and now something was AFOOT,
And he’d be stuck in place with what was to be the output…
He’d love to get away quickly, but aching to his core…
He knew he’d never make it, he was way TOO SORE TO SOAR! 🤦🏻♂️
Fun one and easy.
Wow ! The eagle has landed ! Great thirsty-Thursday jumble ! Anagrams gave me no WORRY! I had just went AFOOT and had GOTTEN a Shirley temple for thirsty-Thursday , then SWOOSH , the jumble was about the one eagle that was SORE and couldn’t fly , but the letters gave me TOO SORE TO SOAR ! Another fun and entertaining jumble ! Everyone have a great thirsty-Thursday !!!!
🐠 So he dove for a fish in the lake,
And was heard to say…”For goodness sake…
I have damaged my wing,
And it really does sting…
So that trip today…no way I’ll make”…🐠
🤷🏻♀️ Earna wants to go visit the kids,
But her husband’s feeling on the skids…
A pulled muscle’s got him
Feeling pain, so he’s grim…
And a beg off is what he must bid…🤷🏻♀️
🦅 While an eagle is best known to soar,
It can’t happen when one’s feeling sore…
So there won’t be a trip,
Adler he’s heard to quip…
“Like the Raven…today? Nevermore”! 🦅
🤦🏻♂️ Adler finds himself out on a limb,
Pun intended…a witty one him…
There’s no way he can fly,
So he’s not high…but dry…
And it’s all due to that dinner swim! 🤦🏻♂️
🤷🏻♂️ Earna says, “How ‘bout wing and a prayer”?
Adler answers, “It won’t get me there…
With this muscle so tight,
There’s no making the flight…
So it looks like I’m staying right here”! 🤷🏻♂️
Did anyone else have Sesame as the third word? My daily newspaper printed it like that. They must have correct it in your paper(or source). I kept trying to figure it out and the circled letters in sesame was s, s, and e. I see you have swoosh posted as the third.
Gary…The third word is SWOOSH, as you can see from a copy of the puzzle here…taken from my paper, the NY Daily News. Perhaps you should contact your paper to let them know about the error. I’m sure it’s caused a problem for many of its readers.

I also had sesame – not swoosh!
My paper had sesame as the third word also.
Any significance that each anagram has a set of double letters…just wondering.
No, just a coincidence…🙋🏻♀️
Good morning. The hits keep coming. No problem with the words or cartoon answer. Until tomorrow stay well and stay safe.
The 3rd scrambled word “MSSEEA” doesn’t work for this puzzle. Did some one post the wrong one?
Benji…Scroll up and see my reply to Gary…It’s an issue with your local paper.🙋🏻♀️
Had sesame also. Can’t think the paper made the change themselves. Had to get it from somewhere.
It seems to be an error with a group of papers…Here’s the correct puzzle… https://tinyurl.com/7f4cz9h9
Initially….no clue to puzzle answer. Then, just cogitated a moment or two (like Angela recommends) and thought SORE might be part of the solution….that lead to SOAR and complete solution. Easy anagrams, but backed in SWOOSH. Good song, Angela….you’ve used it recently, no??
Tks, Terry. TBT, I’m not sure. 🤷🏻♀️
Looks like we had to correct a word because of too many or few circled letters. Not sure what the problem was, I usually check out by then, and a correction was issued on the 13th. Papers grab these and put them in their formats and don’t look for corrections some times. Sorry about the mix up. We try to get these out correct the first time, but a couple of times a year we have to go back and make an alert for papers to grab the new puzzle. They miss it many times.
Here’s the correct puzzle: https://tinyurl.com/7f4cz9h9
Thanks, Jeff. 🙋🏻♀️
Our puzzle was incorrect today. The third word was supposed to be swoosh, but the letters were m-s-s-e-e-a and spelled “sesame,” which meant the jumble answer didn’t work. How did that happen????
Kate…Look above and see Jeff’s explanation…And here’s the correct puzzle 🙋🏻♀️ https://tinyurl.com/7f4cz9h9
Well, today just my spirits will soar
Cos’ my wing feels like it’s stuck to the floor
The plump fleshy fish
Was a fine dinner dish
But that price I won’t pay anymore!
In the Dallas Morning News JUMBLE puzzle for 6/30/22 the third word in my version of the puzzle had the letters MSSEEA, which unscrambled to SESAME. However, each of the four words only had three circled letters, one short of the 13 needed for the puzzle answer. There was a missing O. I figured out the puzzle without it but when I searched online every puzzle solution had the word SWOOSH as the third unscrambled word. #Confused
Yes, we’re aware of it, and it’s been addressed. Please scroll up and read Jeff’s explanation as to what occurred. 🙋🏻♀️
I did the puzzle online and didn’t have a problem w swoosh,so a quick cartoon solution soon followed.
I do mine on line every night , I’ve never had a problem either. !
Flew right through the Jumble this morning. Cute play on words. Wishing all of you a good day.
My paper had the third word as msseea or sesame so I was an o short. There wasn’t any whoosh. Lol
I did get correct answer without the third o.
My paper (Dallas Morning News) had SESAME instead of SWOOSH! So I had four Os instead of five. Major screwup!
I this ole lady GOT it all no problem , EL 102 yrs old
Nice to see you, Eleanor 🙋🏻♀️
There was no OWSSHO in the Winston-Salem Journal’s 6/30 Jumble. It was MSSEEA (sesame).
David and Jeff’s JUMBLE is certainly getting a lot of attention today!! For what it’s worth, keep up the GREAT work, guys..
Absolutely agree! Our daily pleasure!
My paper had a mistake. It’s 3rd word was sesame, not swoosh. It was missing a 13th letter, but I was still able to solve it. Anyone else see this? Also, gotten di not have the E circled.
I had sesame also for third word and forth letter e not circled on last word.
Our newspaper gave us the wrong word to unscramble. Instead of swoosh it was sesame. Solving was not easy.
In the omaha World-Herald eedition for 6/30/2022’s JUMBLE, the jumbled word “owssho“ (swoosh) was not in the puzzle. In its place was “msseea” (sesame). Therefore, the answer to the puzzle was missing an “o” fot the solution. I hope this makes sense; I have a hard copy if you need to see it. Tbx!
Dot…Thank you, but David and Jeff are well aware of it. It was brought to light very early this morning. If you scroll up you’ll see the other comments regarding it, plus Jeff’s explanation as to why it happened. 🙋🏻♀️
Dallas Morning News had the third word wrong. They had msseea instead of owssho.
It’s been a longgggg day. If you care to, read through the above comments. The poor horse has been beaten to death! 🙋🏻♀️
There was an error in the 06/30/22 newspaper.
Instead of SWOOSH, it is (MSSEEA) SESAME.
I knew the answer but it did not match up to the words on my newspaper. McAllen TX, The Monitor, fyi.
Sylvia…Please read the numerous above comments…
